Russian Collusion over Uranium is Boomeranging Back onto Democrats — But No Reports in Australia

For nearly a year the Democrats have been bleating that Trump has colluded with the Russians. But now the FBI have revealed that before the Obama administration approved a controversial Russian uranium deal in 2010. They had gathered evidence that Russian nuclear industry officials were engaging in bribery, extortion, kickbacks, and money laundering designed to grow Russia’s atomic energy business inside the US.

I never knew Russia had any atomic energy business in the US. But it seems that Russia bought into a US uranium and mining company, Uranium One. And with the company controlling one-fifth of uranium mining capacity in the US, the FBI reports suggested that maybe it wasn’t such a good idea to let Russia in.

On the 17th of October, The Hill reports,

“They also obtained an eyewitness account — backed by documents — indicating Russian nuclear officials had routed millions of dollars to the U.S. designed to benefit former President Bill Clinton’s charitable foundation during the time Secretary of State Hillary Clinton served on a government body that provided a favorable decision to Moscow, sources told…”

Rather than bring immediate charges in 2010, the US Department of Justice (DOJ) continued investigating for nearly four more years — essentially leaving the American public and Congress in the dark.

But it seems the mainstream media in US, and here in Australia, are not reporting much of this. They prefer to comment on Trump, and so this was in The Sydney Morning Herald five days ago,

“US President Donald Trump’s re-election committee paid almost $US238,000 ($300,000)… to the law firm representing his son, Donald Trump Jnr in connection with ongoing investigations of Russian interference in the 2016 election… [about] a 2016 meeting he had with a Russian lawyer while seeking damaging information about Democrat Hillary Clinton.”

They keep on about Trump’s link to the Putin — but Clinton and the Democrats are now possibly going to face their own music.

  1. There was a suggestion some time ago that the Federal take over of ranch lands by the environmental department, during the Obama administration was because of the uranium and other mineral deposits known to be under that land. That culminated in the killing by FBI agents of one rancher and the illegal incarceration of other ranchers and a journalist.

  2. mmm … not sure what Fox and Hannity et al are playing at here … could be to play the ‘bad Russia’ card – while Clinton, Obama, Holder et al will probably ‘escape’ as usual – maybe even play the ‘victim of evil Russia’ card and get sympathy.

    • Hannity interviewing Jesse Ventura 8 April 2008 re 911 (from 1:40)

At 1:40+ – Hannity: “the one thing in the book that I found just totally … just ALIEN [emphasised] to me … is this idea that you believe in 911 conspiracies …”

At 2:45+, Hannity: “I’m not an engineer… but if it were true, a lot of engineers would have come out before that” – and he quickly changes the direction of the narrative

I wonder if Hannity has looked this up yet

Is that what they call ‘gatekeeping’?

Back on this Clinton-Obama-Holder Uranium One scandal – this is raising more questions than it is answering so far …for example:
    • Which ‘Russians’ exactly were involved in this saga?
    • Are they some of the oligarchs with connections like Browder that Putin has been ousting?
    • What was Vladimir Putin involvement if any – was he even president during the key events surrounding Uranium One (or just PM)?
    • etc …

    From Wikipedia:
    * https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Uranium_One

Uranium One is a uranium mining company with headquarters in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. It has operations in Australia, Canada, Kazakhstan, South Africa and the United States. In January 2013 Rosatom, a Russian State-owned enterprise, through its subsidiary ARMZ Uranium Holding, purchased the company at a value of $1.3 billion.

In 2007 Uranium One acquired a controlling interest in UrAsia Energy,a Canadian firm with headquarters in Vancouver, from Frank Giustra.

UrAsia Energy’s acquisition of its Kazakhstan uranium interests from Kazatomprom followed a trip to Almaty in 2005 by Giustra and former U.S. President Bill CLINTON where they met with Nursultan NAZARBAYEV, the leader of KAZAKHSTAN. Substantial contributions to the Clinton Foundation by Giustra followed. The PODESTA Group then lobbied on behalf of Uranium One.

    … as I said … many more questions …
