Here’s the broad view. The MDBA was set up in 2012 as a result of legislation created under Water Act of 2007. Malcolm “Goldman Sachs” Turnbull was the Minister for Water and the Environment under the Howard Government in 2007 and was instrumental in the passing of Water Act of 2007.

It’s complicated but essentially there are just a few simple issues that need to be understood. (I think.)

Not Necessary To Be a Farmer To Get a Water Licence

The Water Act,2007 separated the right to have access to “water rights” from farmers in the immediate vicinity of the river system and made it available to financial entities who had no connection whatsoever to the immediate region. Think Hedge Funds in Sydney, Melbourne or Brisbane or anywhere else.. Companies like Duxton Water (who have “rights to 75Gigalitres or equivalent to about 15% of Sydney Harbour) and Blue Sky Investments.

Now, why would they want to do this?

Speculative profits. Colliers International described the returns being made by water investment companies in 2018 as “eye-watering ” when it released its 2019 agribusiness forecast in April. Too bad if the people who actually need the water to grow food and fibre can’t afford to pay the exorbitant prices. Since the MDBA Plan has been implemented, the price of water has skyrocketed up to 700% to the point that many farmers simply can’t afford it.

The end result is devastating to our agricultural and rural communities. Farmers going broke means country towns will wither and die. But hey, that’s OK ’cause somebody in an air-conditioned office, hundreds or thousands of miles away is making a motza!!

Environmental Flows

During September and October 2019, Wyangala Dam in NSW released 22 gigalitres of precious freshwater down the Lachlan River, to “benefit the resident catfish and freshwater shrimp”, while desperate farmers watched helplessly. The NSW Water Minister, Melinda Pavey called it “blind recklessness” in an existing drought and with Bureau of Meteorology forecasts of little substantial rain for the next 12 months. Wyangala Dam is now down to 18% capacity.

The government agency responsible for this “blind recklessness” is called The Commonwealth Water Holder and its rationale is to protect the health of the river system generally, by periodically releasing “environmental flows”. An obvious question, in the case of Wyangala Dam, is what happens when 18% capacity becomes 15%, 12%, or lower? Especially in  the event of BoM forecasts for the next 12 months!  And if this “blind recklessness” is happening at one dam, it’s more than likely happening elsewhere as well.

According to Christopher (Topher) Field in his brilliantly explanatory video series on the MDBA, 70% of the water flowing into the Murray-Darling basin can’t be used for human purposes and must be used for “environmental flows”. This leaves only 30% of the available water to be “traded” (speculated) between legitimate agricultural irrigators and financial interests.  Topher Field’s video series is a MUST WATCH, in order to gain an appreciation of the stupidity (or deliberate malevolence) of the activities of the MDBA. (they’re short and to the point)

And he makes an excellent point that the birds, bugs and native wildlife can’t tell the difference between a man-made watercourse and a natural one. They’re just happy to have the additional habitat.

Estimates are that the combined additional irrigation channels within the Murray Darling Basin add up to an additional 6000 kms of viable habitat for native species. This can’t be a bad thing for the environment and the farmers. So where is the logic in restricting access to water for the irrigators by regulators or by pricing them out of the market? I can’t see any logic at all. Unless… with 70% of available water designated as “environmental flows”,  combined with a couple of naturally dry years and the MDBA bureaucrats “blind recklessness” in dumping the increasingly scarce water downstream, (for the catfish and freshwater shrimp… cough) even the most naive punter can guess what has happened to the price per megalitre. Any entity holding a “high security” water license (one which is guaranteed allocation and delivery) would have an eminently profitable commodity to sell. Hence, the “eye-watering returns” mentioned above.

Keeping The Mouth of The Murray Open — Why??

One of the primary aims of “environmental flows” stipulated in the MDBA Plan is to “ensure the mouth of the River Murray is open, without the need for dredging in at least 95% of years, with flows every year through the Murray Mouth Barrages”. But as Topher Field explains in this video presentation, this objective is patently impossible, unnatural and a shocking waste of valuable freshwater for nil gain.

And being good bureaucrats on safe, taxpayer-funded salaries and perks, they will follow their instructions to the letter, even if it kills a farmer or two dozen, destroys the natural habitats of native flora and fauna and reduces the rural communities of the Murray-Darling Basin to poverty.

These objectives are mandated into the Basin Plan, which itself was created by Water Act, 2007, which was heavily promoted by Malcolm “Goldman Sachs” Turnbull.

The bureaucrats in the MDBA can legitimately say that “they are just following orders” and ” complying with the law”. This is of course true. but this begs the question, “Who wrote the Water Act, 2007 legislation?” and why were these unnecessary provisions incorporated into an Act, which purports to have the best interests of the environment, the farming community and the rural communities supported by the agricultural sector uppermost in mind?

Is It All About Derivatives Contracts?

Few of us really understand derivatives. They’re obscure, ghostly, opaque financial instruments invented by Banksters. But whilst We the People don’t understand them, (((they))) certainly do.

It’s estimated that there are derivatives contracts in the order of US$TWO QUADRILLION floating around the world right now. They come in all shapes and sizes, involving Pork Belly futures, Gold and silver futures, Carbon Credits, Interest Rate Swap futures, Weather Derivatives, and WATER DERIVATIVES. 

You name it, there’s a Derivatives Contract for it. Warren Buffet, the American “Super Investor” and CEO of Berkshire Hathaway, with a stated net worth of $US 88.9 Billion, has called derivatives contracts “Weapons of Mass Financial Destruction”. He should know!

Here’s Duxton Water again, mentioned in this Motley Fool article. “The justification for an investment in water seems pretty straightforward. Many people predict that demand for water will increase significantly over the coming decades.”

 

An article produced by RMIT, Melbourne, by S.Schneider in July 2009, entitled “Water price dynamics, water derivatives and general equilibrium modelling” began with this abstract:

“ The Council of Australian Government’s (COAG) water reforms of 1994 opened a new era in the irrigated agriculture market. After the separation of land and water rights, water became a tradable commodity. In the past, the value of water was significantly underestimated, which led to irrational ways of using this valuable natural resource. The water tariffs were not related to the marginal values of crops grown by irrigators, which caused unsustainable consumption of water, especially during the drought years. The major aim of the COAG reforms was to enable a proper market value for water and to re-allocate water consumption to more economically valuable crops.”

By jacking up the price by 700% percent!!

The Water Act, 2007 appears to be THE PERFECT SET UP to introduce speculation into Australia’s water market. Think WATER DERIVATIVES!

UN Agenda 2030 — Just A Crazy “Conspiracy Theory” ?

Take a quick look around any of Australia’s major cities today. High-rise apartment blocks 20 and 30 storeys tall. Ten years ago this would have been unheard of. Today, cranes litter the skyline. Same for Melbourne and Brisbane. It appears that an expected influx of occupants is anticipated. It’s almost as if the “sudden influx” might not come from overseas, but rather from within our displaced rural communities…

The UN has some crazy plans. Agenda 2030 is one them.

In a nutshell, they seem to want to concentrate populations into massive urban slums to “free up” the hinterlands (to save the environment from us pesky humans, of course). These psychopaths really seem to hate us, whilst at the same time happily accepting their bloated government salaries and benefits.

It’s estimated that approximately 2 million people live in the Murray Darling Basin. If the MDBA Plan is not stopped or seriously amended, the outcome is inevitable.

Family farms reduced to bankruptcy and sold to the highest bidder, which will no doubt be an overseas Agribiz corporation from Asia, the US, UK, or Europe, just as Dairy Farmers was sold recently to China Mengniu Dairy for $600 million. And get this. They bought it from Kirin Beverages, a Japanese company!  From “our” own ABC, “Japanese-owned Lion plans to sell its dairy business (including brands Dairy Farmers and Pura) for $600m. The buyer is China Mengniu Dairy, which recently bought Bellamy’s for $1.5b. Earlier this year, Lion sold its cheese business to Saputo for $280m”.

Bottom line is, Australia’s “cooperative” politicians have ALREADY SOLD US OUT, going back as far as the 70’s when our Trade Minister Don Willissee (yep, father of Mike and Terry) stitched us up to the Lima Declaration, without our knowledge. This was a UN inspired plan to “de-industrialize” Australia and the Western World generally.

 

Our politicians have been chopping Australia up and selling it for years.

Think power poles, ports, communications,(OPTUS) banking, even our local dump is controlled by SITA (Société Industrielle de Transport Automobile) which is part of SUEZ, a French multinational corporation. But you get the point. And who has been paying attention? Precious few of us, unfortunately.

Death by government, also known as Democide… “the intentional killing of an unarmed or disarmed person by government agents acting in their authoritative capacity and pursuant to government policy or high command“.  It’s starting to look like we are at war, whether we like it or not!!

Cicero said 2000 years ago:

Watching grown men reduced to tears of frustration and exasperation is truly enough to make your blood boil in anger at the government. As if there aren’t enough “issues” to deal with….. (just ask Dee-heaven help us)

Spread this far and wide because our farmers, and ultimately all of us collectively might not have much time left.

    • Re the 1948 Genocide Convention, Australia ratified it in 1949 but has not made a law to criminalize it (unless possibly it did so under the 2002 International Criminal Court thingie).

      Article II of the Convention defines genocide as:

      any of the following acts committed with INTENT to destroy, in whole or in part, a NATIONAL, ethnical, racial or religious groups, as such:

      (a) Killing members of the group;

      (b Causing serious bodily or mental harm to members of the group;

      (c) Deliberately inflicting on the group conditions of life calculated to bring about its physical destruction in whole or in part;

      (d) Imposing measures intended to prevent births within the group; or

      (e) Forcibly transferring children of the group to another group.

  3. The Water Act, 2007 is unreadable for the average layman. But of course, that’s the way (((they))) like it. Totally unreadable. That’s how (((they))) can slip in nasty surprises, whilst still claiming “total disclosure”. You just have to read it in black and white, knowing that virtually no one will read it. Words like sustainable, environmental flows, transparency, water charge rules, new culture and practices, populate this piece of legislation. More often than not, the true purpose is hidden in gobbledy-gook and the true meaning and purpose often has the opposite intent from that stated.

    • Terry, first a large enough percentage of the population needs to realise that there IS indeed a war being fought against us. Mind you, I found myself arguing/debating last night on New Year’s eve that there could be a problem with some vaccines,(with a doctor and a nurse) that 9/11 might not have happened the way we were told it happened,and that the Wunder Kind, Greta Thunberg is linked to Geroge Soros. George WHO was the response. The battle goes on, and I think it’s a battle for the mind of the population, whatever is left of it.

      • I don’t think the population will wake up until they hit bottom. Only then will they look around and wonder what has been going on. I probably won’t see that awakening in my lifetime.

    Easy. Derivatives contracts.

    They don’t actually have any water to irrigate with. They just have a contract to have water. Doesn’t matter WHERE the water is. It’s FAKE WATER. Like everything else to do with derivatives. FAKE.

  9. Since 9/11 the greatest amount of legislation has been to do with “National Security”. However the biggest threat to Australia’s national security is Government. Just look at all the resources sold to private enterprises, now mainly owned by foreign interests, via shares if not direct.

    Every one of those sales affected our National Security and self sufficiency. However because this treachery was done by politicians on both sides of politics the population has accepted the situation without trepidation.

    Very few people have asked the question, “why has water from the Ord River Dam not been allowed to be used elsewhere in Australia?”

    My answer is that, until this asset is in the hands of private enterprises the UNO will not allow such a project to go ahead, under the auspices of Agenda 2030, (preservation of water sources). In the meantime huge volumes of fresh water will continually flow back into the sea every year, while southern Australia runs out of water because of over population, caused by the same UNO.

  11. We were talking about Agenda 2030 impact on Oz only this morning. In Adelaide we have been SMASHED by chemtrails since mid-December. The point of this geo-engineering must be what has occurred, namely absolutely no prospect of rain, which coupled with high temperatures (normal for this time of year) means drought and bushfire prone conditions. Not sure qi bono but certainly not the community. Maybe they want to buy up the burnt land and turn it into carbon sinks? And when is the BOM going to start reporting the truth – “hazy cloud cover from persisting chemtrails”? I think that the geo-engineering is connected to the MDBA and concur that it’s all part of a UN program.
    And it is sickening how politicians have sold this country out, principally to China. Did you notice Paul Keating popped up out of nowhere to defend China recently? Interesting… But not content to take all our manufacturing now they are invading via immigration and buying us out with the wealth they were gifted under the Lima Declaration that should be ours! We need to take this country back, kick them all out and re-create our manufacturing base!

  12. A big part of the problem is, that politicians are able to vote on Bills that they have not read, or understand. Another big problem is, that when a Bill is brought to either the House of Representatives or the Senate, very few are in the Parliament to hear the Bill read and debated. Then when the Bill is to be voted on, you can quite often count the number of politicians actually in the chamber on your hands. (As was done 14th Feb 2018, when the “bail-in” Bill supposedly became law. (There were 8 of 67 Senators in the chamber.) These creatures are supposed to represent their constituents. Absolute bunkum!

    Where is there representative government?

    These creatures receive good remunerations and benefits for their services but most fail to carry out their most important duties.

    nothing to do with environment.. if there was any such thing as environmental flows the darling would still be flowing and there would be no pipeline from wentworth pumping water uphill for >200 kms to give broken hill a drink..

    i think bourke has been on bottled water for months.. wheres this so called environmental flow? last time i put a boat in the murray i got stuck on the sand!

    if you want a healthy murray river… give the management to a person who lives at goolwa.

    if you want the mouth kept open… put in some pipes at the bottom off the coorong…. connected to the sea under the sandunes… with a one way valve… so when the tide comes in… the coorong fills up from the bottom… and flows out the mouth..

    gets rid of the need for the decades old dredges that were a six month solution….

    none of this is my original idea.. but it sounds good to me.

    seems to me.. the plan is… let the rivers run dry… and burn everything.
    wonder how thirsty people have to get before they start getting angry?

If we are silly enough to believe that water is a marginal cost of crop growing. then we can see why increasing efforts are being made to include fresh air as a marginal cost of the commerce of living. And, sadly, judging by the successes so far when that time arrives (which it has already in various unnatural forms) voters will accept that cost without a single question.

            If I hadn’t run into the ‘Mandela Effect’ and the Bible changes, I would have doubted that such a thing could occur. There are literally millions of copies of the Bible laying around. How could anyone possibly round up all those Bibles and ‘re-write’ them?

        • Note the following videos on Nestle’ ……. particulary in commie California where they pay a pittance for millions of litres of water from the acquifiers and sell it for dollars in the shops.
          Here i avoid Nestle products like the chocolate, its coffee, Uncle Toby products ( yes the freaks own our Toby) and FRANKLIN WATER etc.
          Why have our water bubblers disapeared? ……. yes water is food, pay for it you pissant.
          But when it rains, it is free? No, in some areas in the US you pay to let it fall on your driveway. Now there is a nice little earner, charge for rain falling on you property according to the area. Yep just add that charge to the peasants with the carbon tax affecting powere etc. It should be a Co2 TAX. IT IS NOT CARBON.
          As plants, trees etc, need Co2 and it is a food for plants, why not charge landowners for that gas that plants need to grow according to private ownership of plants, grass and your rose bush?
          Wake up peasants!

          • At the 47min mark, there will be a planned farewell party for parents as the kids would think convenient.
            At other reports I understand the party will be when their used by date is at 75 years.
            Seems that many of us will have to book ahead a venue for our partys before demand becomes too great.

          • Let me go back to one evening (probably late 80s early 90s.
            I walked through the ‘TV’ room.
            Whilst walking through I noticed a snippet of a program.
            The report referred, with a video, of a senior citizen at a family function referring to a scene where the male (appeared upright and healthy) was with family and about to depart the gathered and in respectful celebration.
            At the time I merely passed through the room not taking any notice.
            I have not seen or heard of the programme ever since. STRANGE!!!!!
            I do not know what channel it was on.
            Strange, how a few seconds, ultimately become a larger dot in life’s conscious when Dr Day is exposed.
            Now I know, after 30 years or so.
            Evil surrounds us and the msm and pollies surround, as does the ‘post turtle’ wonder.

    • Dee, you’re not going to believe this but I agree with him at 3.27 that water should have a market value. It already has one.

      What is the alternative? — to say that if your neck of the woods has a lot of water, you are entitled to use it all, while I in a dry area have to go thirsty?

      Or should we decide that the society owns all water and can distribute it? These are hard questions. There is nothing to be gained by pretending that everybody lives in Nature’s embrace. Living in a skyscraper apartment is not living with Nature. Period.

      (See? The presidential candidate in me is thinking that one has to deal with reality. Which is not to rule out that a healthy solution is to abandon one’s skyscraper for the woods.)

      For the record: In the SA Liberal Party I strongly opposed the sale of Telstra. It should have remained with the people, via the govt, and not be sold to profiteers. Of course I would say the same for H2O.

  24. What an unnatural economy we now live in.
    Australia is in a very real rural crisis, yet for people (the majority) in the larger towns life seems the same as always.
    How are all those people going overseas who have depended on the enormous amount of food we used to export?
    Does anyone know?
    Does anyone care?
    We are giving all this water to the environment?
    How about attaching environmental conditions to irrigation water?
    Free water for organic farms?
    Nah, terrible idea.
    Helps too many people.

  28. What is the difference between “giving water to the environment” and wasting it?
    I suspect it is only verbal.
    I remember a rice growing year when South Australians were freaking out about the birds leaving the Coorong. Here in south west NSW there was every type of water bird in large numbers.
    It took them a short time to fly across in a straight line.
    Turning water into a commodity has led to more waste than we have ever seen.

  33. Some years ago I was reading a post on the Above Top Secret website (tongue-in-cheek name) and in the post it was noted that an oil industry executive stated that water would become the new oil. I think that has now happened in Australia and likely other countries now.

  34. berry – the most galling thing of all about this water situation is no politicians, lobbyists, public servants or bureaucrat has any right to sell any part of the Australian continent or its fishing zone because absolutely none of it belongs to them. It belongs to our national estate and our national estate belongs to every Australian.

    At the very worst, foreign interests should only be permitted to lease a part of the national estate and then only for a maximum of 20 years …but….but they cant take it away I hear you say. Well…..for exactly that same reason there is no reason why the should not be happy to lease it is there?
