The West Continues to Lie About the Causes and Consequences of Their War in Ukraine

The current war being fought in Ukraine has been an example of propaganda and unmatched in other recent conflicts around the world. The so-called Western nations have been the principal purveyors of these lies and misinformation which is reaching unprecedented levels. The principal aim of this relentless propaganda campaign has been to portray the Russians as the originators of the conflict. The reality is somewhat different.

The origins of this war go back to 2014. In that year the legitimately elected government of Ukraine was overthrown in a violent coup. A principal architect of that coup was Victoria Nuland, a right-wing American fanatic who saw the removal of a government that was friendly to Russia as a major achievement.

That coup was not universally welcomed in Ukraine. It led to the splitting away from Ukraine of three of its areas, the two regions in the eastern region of Donbass, and the island of Crimea. The latter had been gifted to Ukraine in 1954 by then Soviet President Khrushchev, himself Ukrainian. The people of the island were not consulted. Australians should have been aware of Crimea’s history. They sent soldiers there in the 1850s when the island fought a war with Britain. This history was conveniently forgotten by the Western media who have treated Crimea as having belonged to Ukraine.

The circumstances of Crimea’s return to Russia is also consistently misrepresented in the western media as a Russian “annexation”.  In fact, the people of Crimea had a democratic vote. The overwhelming majority (more than 90%) voted to apply to re-join Russia which they duly did and their request was accepted by the Russians. That democratic process has never been accepted by the West. It should be compared to the process in Kosovo where the population similarly voted to separate from Serbia. The West had no trouble recognising that process. Kosovo is now the location of one of the United States’ largest military bases in Europe, another fact that the Australian media does not regard as necessary to inform its readers and listeners.

The Ukrainians did not like this exercise of the democratic process. They imposed sanctions on Crimea, including the cutting off of its freshwater supply. One of the unheralded consequences of the present war is that Russia has restored Crimea’s water links to the mainland of Ukraine. It is unlikely to ever return to Ukrainian control.

The major consequence for the Donbass was that the Ukrainians have waged war on the territory for the past eight years. In the process they have killed more than 60,000 civilians, and 1 million more have been forced into exile. Again, the Western media does not bother to inform its readers and listeners with this fact.

In February of this year the Ukrainians were planning a major military exercise to retake the whole of the Donbass. They had for several years been occupying part of the region. It was this plan that finally forced the Russians to intervene to protect the citizens of the Donbass from the planned major attack by the Ukrainians. Another inconvenient fact that is ignored by the Western media. The Russian intervention was successful thus far, with large areas of the Donbass being freed from Ukrainian control. A Ukrainian army of an estimated 80,000 men is now trapped. They have a choice: surrender or die. At the time of writing, they appear to have made a decision to keep fighting.

The Australian government has made a decision to become involved in this war, although Ukraine is a long way away and Australia is not a party to any treaty to come to its aid. The decision has undoubtedly been made at the request of the Americans who have no interest in seeing the war end. It marks yet another sorry chapter in Australian willingness to become involved in the United States’ wars. Make no mistake, this is very much another United States war, to which the US is supplying military equipment, vast sums of money and personnel.

The Russians are currently laying siege to the Ukrainian town of Mariupol where several thousand Ukrainian troops are besieged in the port area. Ukrainians have made several recent attempts to helicopter some of the personnel away from the besieged area. The Russians have shot down at least five such helicopters. In the process they captured a United States General who had been with the Ukrainian forces. No word of this has been printed in the Australian media, but it confirms the fact that foreign troops are among those besieged.  It accounts for the desperation of the Ukrainians to attempt to rescue them. Again, no word of this appears in the western media.

The Russians now control the majority of the area of the two breakaway republics. The defeat of the remaining Ukrainian troops, now bottled up, is only a matter of time. They also have a stark choice: surrender or be killed. They, like the increasingly desperate Ukrainian government, are desperately hoping for serious Western intervention to save the day for them. For all the aggressive language uttered by the United States and its European puppets, they are very unlikely to want a full-on confrontation with the Russians.

Instead, they will continue to utter threats, impose sanctions and steal Russian financial assets. The blatant theft of $300 billion of Russian reserves tells one more about the true morality of this shameless bunch of thieves than almost anything else.  Russia has recognised the West for what it really is and has finally made moves to shift its trade to the East. One might hope that next winter when Europeans are freezing because Russian oil (40% of their needs) has been cut off, they might see the folly of their blind adherence to the United States’ war against Russia (and China). It would be unwise to hold one’s breath waiting for a dose of realism to finally penetrate their thick skulls.

The Russians have never said they intend to take over Ukraine, they have said though, on far too many occasions, they will wipe out the Ukrainian military ability and destroy the Nazis within that organisation AND within the Government of the Ukraine. Recently, they have also stated, they will assist in rebuilding the infrastructure damaged in the conflict. However, let’s be very clear, from the very beginnings, Putin has stated time and time again, he has no interest in taking over and occupying the failed state that the Ukraine was/is. Folks need to clear their ears and eyes and consider the information readily at hand. I’m thousands of miles away from Europe and the Ukraine, yet I can avail myself of the FACTS, as they are occurring. So why does the rest of our population seem to be unable to do similar, and just accept without question, the lies being propagandised by our Government and it’s complict media ? There are many European/Russian media resources available these days, and with a click of a button, their languages can be converted to English for anyone to read, thus providing a balance sorely needed in the MSM World today.

        In addition, Putin claimed that his forces had conducted precision attacks on mobile bio labs (18-wheeled transporters that had been insecurely converted to makeshift labs) that were attempting to transport deadly pathogens across the Ukrainian border into Poland. He told Trump that Russian SU-35 aircraft used laser-guided munitions to eliminate the roving labs.

        In addition, Putin said his warplanes destroyed a 200-acre villa owned by Biden 35 km west of Kiev. He insisted that Biden was deeply involved in Ukraine’s criminal activities and promised Trump he would soon provide the world with “all the evidence it needs”. Moreover, Putin claimed that “many people in Biden’s demonic den” were benefiting massively from the “conflagration of evil” that had taken hold on Ukrainian soil. Twenty of Biden’s fellow foreigners, Putin said, were killed in the attack. END Quote –

    • Interesting point Russell. Recently the W.A. Government released their budget, and within that budget was the FACT W.A.’s financial position was the best it’s been ever since the state was conceived. Think about that for a second. Consider too, it was achieved during what we are told was a World wide Epidemic causing all sort of problems, which to this day, are still not resolved. Yet the FACTS are clear. W.A. is floating above the profits gained MAINLY from the export of it’s iron ore, and also it’s CNG. Now according to your post, (I haven’t yet, been able to validate your claims, but will be looking ) the Americans want us to stop selling iron ore to China, thus become destitute as many states in the U.S. are. My answer to that is, fine, we have no problems ceasing iron ore trade with China, PROVIDED THE U.S.A. pick up the slack, caused by acceding to their demand.         No need to worry about the market, the world market is always there.
        People panicked about the lobsters going out of fashion in China, they are now getting eaten here instead for half price I believe.

        • w3, cant see us eating iron ore though. Over a period of 40 years, we have had one or two entrepenuers come up with processing the iron ore here in Australia, with one facility on W.A. and another in QLD, then running rail system between the two, exchanging ore and coal to power the plants. The last time this was proposed, was only a few years back, and a private consortium sought Federal approval for the project. Not one cent of Govt funding was required. Predicably, for some strange reason, the Feds did not like the idea at all, and refused to green light it. Imagine if they had approved it. The jobs and manufacturing in this country would have got a huge boost. How handy would that have been now, with all the spending on military proposals, instead of importing what we need, it’d be made right here ? On top of that, inland Australia would also have been given the opportunity to be developed with workers living and working along the line. No reason was ever given for the refusal of the proposal.

            But anyway remember BHP Hot Briquetted Iron project used to be visible from about 50km away up north got mothballed about 20 years ago due to design incompetence.
            Now we have Twiggy building his solar powered steel mill up north and why not, I had the same idea myself some years ago but couldn’t see myself getting the funding.

Just one query regarding the number of civilians killed over the past eight years – I had a figure of 10-15,000 in mind based on any number of reports prior to the start of the current ‘conflict’. The other day noted that it had grown to 40,000, and now 60,000. I would just seek clarification of this figure if I am going to share this article.

    • W3, Yeah your right on with that. Just read a write up about the Russian tanks and the systems they installed for ammo storage and handling. It told us to remove one crew member, they designed an automated shell replenishment system which rotates within the turret, in effect surrounding the gunner with high explosives. Then when they get hit, this high explosives also blow off, blowing off the turret and instantly killing the occupants. Clearly, a design fault. Dunno how valid it is, though it would explain how easily their tanks seem to be separated from their turrets.

  14. w3 – I’m still trying to work out how an over 60’s, overweight, wannabe politician, Clive Palmer manages to make 9 BILLION in 12 months !!!

    • That’s easy, since the GFC the government has been printing money currently at $200b per year I believe, so a lot of that has fed into sharemarket inflation. Therefore Clive’s actual holdings may not have increased at all, but the value of the money has dropped. We are forced to counterfeit our money because we follow the US and we need to maintain parity and also because the government needs a big tax-by-stealth to pay for all the hangers-on, which includes about a million administrators and useless eaters. CLive denies he was up by 9 billion and says it was the ABC or some other place who made up the number, he says he doesn’t know and that’s quite right, it’s a complex moving target.
