Australia Faces Some New Demographic Challenges

A population can continue to grow in one of two ways, either by maintaining a steady net immigration inflow, or by a sufficiently high birth rate. The magic replacement level fertility rate is 2.1 children for each woman, on average. It has been a number of years since Australia’s birth rate was at the magic replacement level. In 2021 it reached an historic low of 1.55 children per woman on average. Nobody realistically expects this level to increase in the future.

Because of previous years of a higher birth rate this low figure does not translate into a declining population. The Australian population could still be expected to grow from this natural cause for a further 20+ years. Australia could still be expected to grow its population beyond this date if it continues to have a high net population inflow, i.e., arrivals exceeding departures.

What happened in 2021 however, was that the population actually declined as the net migration outflow exceeded the natural increase from births exceeding deaths. This was the first time in living memory that there had been such a decline, and yet it received little or no coverage in the mainstream media.

That decline in population is likely to be a short-term effect as the country is expected to resume a net inflow of migrants as the shock caused by the current pandemic declines. What may change however, is the source of those migrants. For many decades Australia receives a significant boost to its population by taking migrants from the United Kingdom, Ireland and western Europe. This however, is likely to change.

Not the least of the reasons for the decline in migrants from Europe is that this region is also experiencing significant internal challenges to its population structure. Low sub-replacement levels of fertility rates have been a feature of European nations for a number of decades. In many cases they have already passed the point where annual deaths exceed births. This phenomenon is also occurring in Japan, which has a very low level of migration intake, and where deaths already exceeded births by half a million per year.

In Europe, the situation is equally dire. Taking the whole of Europe, 42 countries from Scandinavia in the north to Greece in the south, in 2020, 27 of the 42 countries experienced more deaths than births per year. A further three had almost equal levels of annual births and deaths. In some countries, for example Russia, Germany and Italy, the excess of deaths over births ran into hundreds of thousands annually.

What does this mean for Australia? It seems to be a widely accepted principle that Australia’s population needs to grow. That will not come from the excess of births over deaths which has only a very limited time frame. Neither, it seems likely, but it will come from the traditional sources of migration, that is Europe and the United Kingdom. If Australia wishes to attract significant numbers of future migrants it is going to have to look to non-traditional sources, which in reality means most likely India and Africa, both of which are expected to experience significant population growth over the next 50 years.

Significant increases in migration from either or both regions will have inevitable consequences for the racial composition of the population. Australia for most of its existence since the British first shipped their prisoners to this country has pursued what was essentially a white Australia policy. This will no longer be possible.

This has been modified in more recent years, with for example, significant increases in the population of Asian origin settling in Australia. There are for example, approximately 1 million people (more than 5% of the total) of Chinese ethnicity that call Australia home. The prejudice and antipathy this group has met is a foretaste of what can be expected with the reaction to significant numbers of Indian and African people seeking to make Australia their home.

Maintaining a white enclave on the edge of Asia was always an improbable goal and the events of recent years have made it even less sustainable given, for example, Australia’s strong trade links with Asia. Building upon those links always seemed to me to be a more realistic goal than either trying to maintain a European bias in our migration policy, or having to accommodate a surge from Africa which poses more cultural challenges than would be the case in increasing the Asian population intake.

The old system has clearly reached the end of the road. To adjust to the new challenges will not be easy, but it is certainly going to be necessary.

  1. I live in St Kilda, Melbourne. It is a looking glass into the future demographic of Australia. A multitude of languages spoken – from all over the globe. On a sunny day the beach is populated with a cross section of people and couples. What I have observed is the significant number of SE Asian or Asian and Ozzie mixed marriages (or couples). The blending of races.

      • If the average Australian ever becomes aware of the infiltration of the Jewish agenda in Australia, watch out. Notice, it’s very much held under cover, yet it’s infiltration is very much wide spread. Here in the West we even have whole suburbs where they live and congregate.

        • I only know around Dianella, where they have security guards on the synagog, but the guards are just their young boys aged early 20’s and they are quite friendly not like the ones in city nightclubs who push talkative people backwards down the front staircase, or headbutt them, and so forth. The jews really get a bad rap and it just seems to make them stronger. Maybe I will go and infiltrate the jew community one day and see what’s going on. I infiltrated the masons once and that was interesting, some of them were very secretive, they seemed to enjoy being paranoid.

  2. Why is it a given that population must continue to grow? Why must the Kalergi Plan proceed here? It is a failed social engineering strategy. Why isn’t it satisfactory to maintain the same population? Reproduction should be incentivised like it is in Russia.

    • Richard: Reproduction WAS “incentivised” with a “baby bonus” and then was viciously attacked by the elite claiming that any young person having a baby was “doing it for the money”. $3000 doesn’t go very far with a brand new baby! I don’t think they even offer that any more.

  3. The world is changing and rapidly. Ancient technologies denied to us for a very long time are about to come back on line – such as free energy and a more equitable financial system that will benefit everyone, and not just an elite as we have been made to accept for far too long.

    But change will be difficult for many to accept, especially those who will cling to the imposed class system and debt slave mentality.

    James has based his article on what was once accepted, and expected by many, as par the course for economic growth – which has proven to be a dismal failure anyway – especially after 1971 when the world turned away from the Gold standard and embraced, or more to the point, was forced to accept a new monetary system based on petroleum.

    I believe some on this site could take their memory of that time and re-live the havoc and upheaval to Western society that move by the Globalists caused. I know I can!

  4. To keep up with interest as it vacuums money out of circulation the population has to be continually topped up with debt free borrowers in order to keep money in circulation.

    • The American natives formerly known as Indians used to take beads as a form of money, when they found out the beads were counterfeit and not accepted as money they wanted their property back. This led to the English term “Indian Giver”. Why should beads not be interchangeable with printed notes ? Obvioulsy the system was corrupt.

  5. Mother Nature is hard at work on this issue. Many countries have initiated studies as to why men and women around the World are become less and less fertile. It does not matter what colour your skin is, or where you live, male sperm counts are decreasing everywhere, and so far, no one has come up with why this is happening, or with a solution. IMHO, Immigration is NOT going to fix that problem. Immigration in Australia is not about increasing our population, what immigration is about, is MAKING MONEY GO AROUND. Basicly, it’s an INDUSTRY, I should know, I’m a migrant, and as such, I grew up in a World where migrants were frowned upon, taught nothing, and ripped off at every opportunity. Migrants need houses, and all aspire to a home of their own, bust their guts to work to that end. Builders/banks/ home furnishing businesses all love it, the core of their business. Industries love it too, cheap labour available at the drop of a hat, and many such migrants are prepared to do work the average Australian is loath to do. Then of course we have the issue of the FACT that Australia is the World’s driest Continent. It is FACT, that the majority of Australians all live within 100 K’s of a city along the coast. Very few, population wise, live inland. The reason for this is the inhospitable climate therein, and the lack of employment and WATER. These days we are being pummelled with climate change releases, a veritable tsunami of information/claims/allegations being made by all sorts of experts, but the IRONY in all that, is the FACT that NO ONE pushing that agenda is prepared to consider, that with the climate change, there just maybe a LIMIT as to the population Australia can hold and self sustain. For example; In my state, Western Australia, we have again been told by our State Authorities we must reduce out water useage next summer, as insufficient resources are being depleted and with climate change, said resources are not being replenished as fast as they are being emptied. Never mind the fact, every West Australian already knows this, with the exception of our Government Authorities, who seem to think the less water people use, the more will be available for increasing the population. Never mind the fact, we have two desalination plants already running full steam and another being built at the time of writing, essentially ensuring the MAJORITY of the metropolitan area is supplied with desalinated water. Yet people are still told, to reduce your water consumption. No one ever asks the question ; If I reduce my water consumption by X amount of liters per year, that allows (for this excercise ) a migrant family to use that water I saved. Said migrant family will have kids who also use water, thus increasing once again, the demand being made on the resource and so on. There MUST be a limit, how long this can be sustained. What happens if one or two desalination plants suddenly fail ???? Clearly, increasing our population, IMHO, does have it’s dangerous blowback staring us in the face. Notice I have not dealt with regional areas outside the 100 kilometer distance. I cant speak for the Eastern states, only W.A. in that regard, and believe me, we have serious issues there as well. The only bright side is the FACT that over the last 50 years, these regional areas have been stripped of all Government support and turned into ghost towns, some survive, but the majority are simply empty shells of what they once were, so the pressure for water resources there has decreased somewhat, but the ones thriving, are still hampered with the lack of water resources. Every time there is a drought, these towns need to be supplied by tanker trucks in the 21 Century, believe it, or not. Yet our Government and it’s fellow conspirators, big business, conspire to increase the population, KNOWING that there is a definate limit, as to how many people Australia can sustain. Wasn’t too long ago, the Eastern states were at their wits end on this issue, and they all thought they were going to die, with the drought drying up every source they relied upon. Too late, they built desal plants which were then very quickly shut down when the rains/floods came, and all concern of water shortages were consigned to the black hole of their memories. Were any actions taken by the authorities, to ensure such resources would be available in the future droughts, given that they now KNOW they’re staring climate change in the face ????? None that I’ve heard of, it seems all they are occupied with is shoveling the mud from homes, and trying to get business going again. The drought and water shortages a very dim memory. Increase Australian populations at OUR PERIL.

    • Well this will give you a shock. As you know Perth was originally full of lakes fed by springs, in fact all of Northbridge used to get totally flooded periodically, and it used to drain out at Claisebrook Cove. Conceivably it was flooded out beyond Leederville and to the north about 20km or more, on some occasions. Well, an old guy who used to work for the Water Board told me they did an outfall pipe about 1.5m diameter and made a jetty over it at Ocean Reef. This pipe delivers fresh water out to sea at a fantastic rate, this is overflow from somewhere, it sounds like enough for about half a million people, or if they were Yemenis or Ethiopians, probably 5 million. I’ll have to get back to him for some more details, there was more, I will be checking it out. Meanwhile as you know they are expanding Perth, along the Tonkin highway in particular, they will presumably settle the cheap imported worker replacements out there, in little townhouses built by their developer friends.

      • Dunno about that Joe, but I do know there is such a pipe in the location you’ve mentioned, however it takes sewerage out to sea for 11k’s and spread is out. When I was a young fella, we used to spear fish and dive up there. Followed the sewerage pipe one day to it’s outflow in the ocean. Recently, it was decided to separate the water and recycle/treat it.. You probably read of the debates regarding this in the media. Anyway, due to the resistance of drinking recycled sewerage water, it was decided to pump this water into the Joondalup catchment area and allow natural forces for it to sink to the water table. They completed laying the pipe only recently. I used to walk around the lake, that’s how I found out what they were doing. Regards Claisebrook Cove, I used to work there, (railcar depot) at that time, the brook was practicaly none existent. It wasn’t until the developers moved in to develop housing there, that they managed to clear the flow and reinstate the brook which now flows into the Sawn. Good place for a walk and coffee at the Cafe in the morning.

        • Thanks for the update on the filtered sewage scheme, sanity has prevailed. Do you know if they add fluoride in Perth ? As for the stormwater etc., I will make further enquiries. I have no reason to think my source was lying.

          • When you consider the income of the water board, probably more than $2 billion per year, and the actual work they do, it seems they have a healthy surplus to work with, and consider also their product falls free from the sky, this type of business would be attractive to the wrong type of person, who might hand out contracts to their friends, for projects that were next to useless, desal plants spring to mind.

          • Recently spoke to a guy who drills and installs domestic bores. (This was 5 months ago.) He told me the W.A. Water Corp has been 50% privatised and as such, is encouraged to produce policies to ensure the profitability of Water Corp. In light of this, in some suburbs of Perth, they are installing meters on Private bores, which after a certain allowance, will ensure a charge for further water drawn. Local Councils, sporting groups ect, ect, will all be given similar orders, and demanded payment for water consumed above the allotted allowance. NONE of these actions are to conserve water, but designed to ensure high profitability of W.A. Watercorp. A few folks have raised objection, as they say if everyone stops using this crappy, bad smelling stuff, it will raise temperatures within the metro area. I can prove this without a doubt. From my back door to my garden there’s 5 deg of difference mid summer. That’s just in my back yard, imagine the whole of the metro area. There’s also another group, who are ropeable, as they were SUBSIDISED a few years back and ENCOURAGED to sink bores instead of using scheme water, they now want their money back and paid compensation for being LIED to and led up the garden path. Regards the drying up of water sources in the Perth area, the finger is pointed directly at the housing and development supported by both parties when in power. I live in the North of the river and I can recall many such resources that have been destroyed, not by drying up, but by LANDFILL and development.
            B.T.W. very few W.A. people are aware, that way back when we were suffering from drought and the dams were seriously depleted, the Watercorp decided ILLEGALLY, to sink a series of bores alongside Beach Rd, starting near Marmion Avenue all the way to Alexander Drive. Bores were sunk ever 600 metres and connected together via 200mm pipeline funneling all water received to Alexander Heights where it is treat and introduced into the system. All homes.businesses North of Beach Rd are all supplied with this water. I discovered this was done ILLEGALLY, as all bores required a license from the Harbours an Rivers Commission, and were required to install bores to their recommendation. I found this out, when my bore ran dry, and investigation revealed their bore was sucking the water from my bore. They called it the “area of influence” of the Watercorp bore. That’s when the legalities rose up. Turns out they were obligated to restore my access to my bore water, this was done by reducing the draw from their bore, and rembursing me for costs incurred. Yep, real nasty shit mixer it was. They then had the audacity to ask me to sign a disclaimer absolving them of further liabilities in the future. I laughed at the guy, and told him where to go. B.T.W. regarding the Perry lakes drying up. I returned to Perth in 1975, whilst abroad, I had taken up the hobby of radio controlled power boating. I used to take my boat to Perry Lakes to give it a run, within 2 years of my return to Australia, that lake dried up. 1977. So it defies the claims being made today, of recently drying up.

          • Last I heard bore water sprinklers were only allowed 2 days / week, same as government water, and that has to be turned off in winter, even though it all percolates back to the water table, along with the rain. Your info about the Water Corp being half sold off sounds very credible, it must pay great dividends. Some places I think they charge for rainwater. All the water belongs to them !!! They bought it from our crooked politicians, and our lying media never told us anything.

      Re falling fertility.

      In point of fact, a hell of a lot is known why.

      (1) over-eating. Too much food makes men impotent. Once per week, fast from 9 PM to 5 PM the next day. You won’t believe the wake-up effect.

      (2) PCBs and others. Avoid anything wraped in plastic.

      (3) Chemicals in processed food and takeaways. Obviously, avoid or die in the arse.

      (4) Lack of exercise. Ride a bike or swim regularly. Lift weights, Every day, do push-ups.

      (5) Medical intervention. Stop it.

      (6) Preserved meats. Avoid.

      (7) Cheep beer. Two days a week pissed, maximum.

      (8) mRNA jabs.

      (9) Porn

      (10) Insufficient sleep. No electric(electronic) devices near your bed. Total darkness. Kill your neighbours dogs.

      On immigrants, both you and O’Neill misconstrue. It was never about “white Australia” policy. It was always about incompatible cultures. Chinese, Japanese, Ashkenazim, and African immigrants refuse to accommodate Australian culture. If I ever get the chance, most will be sent back where they come from, or shot, whatever. I don’t care.

      Let me qualify this hard-core position. I know some Congalese who are great immigrants. They don’t put shit on Aussies and they try to fit in, but I also notice they really want to go back home. I made a deal with them, they help me get our Australian nation back and I will then help them to get the Congo back to the dream kept alive by Patrice Lumumba, and help them get the African Unity dreamed of by Muammar Ghadaffi.

      Both of these heros were murdered by the US; Lumumba by the CIA, and Ghadaffi by psycho Hilary Clinton and Barak Obama. They too, must die for their crimes.

      I think my deals are reasonable but I am sure many will disagree. Frankly, I don’t give a fuck. I stand by freedom for all people.

      • You left out one, fairly important “infertility” factor: For most women the prevalence of conception peaks between the late teens and late-20s.For many, delaying the arrival of dependents till age 35 + just doesn’t work, but as we al know, various forces are driving said trend

      • Ah Tony, I guess we’ll differ greatly on this issue. You must’ve missed the bit where I explained I too am an IMIGRANT. I am well aware of the racisim dished out to folks who are different. It’s got nothing to do with their colour or language, it’s simply pure unadulterated racisim. Because I’ve been on the receiving end, I KNOW it for what it is. May I also point out, Australia would not be the country it is today, with that immigration. For example, when I was young, a night out on the town would consist of an evening meal of fish and chips then the pictures. With the increase of immigration, we were able to swap the bland fish and chips for spaghetti bol and roast chicken, which Australians had never heard of before. Over time, more such dishes made their way into Australian stomaches. Chinese foods took off like rocket ships, then the introduction of middle eastern foods. I also have very good Chinese, South Korean, Macedonian, Rumanian friends. The only folks I have an issue with, is Indians from the subcontinent. I worked with many of these in my workplace, and found them to be the most back stabbing, conniving folks I’ve ever come across. Of course, there may be some good ones out there, but the ones I worked with, I’d rather never see again.

    • The nature of Australian governance sure is evidenced by the complete absence of any foresight re water supply and management and the southwest corner of the country is a prime example. As Perth gets plenty of rain in winter every house should be built over it’s own run-off collection tank; the reliance on bores, dams, and desalinisation is all about centralised control.

      • Totally agree with your post. But where would you place a catchment rainwater tank with this infill housing crap ? Also, when my family first arrived in this country, we were sent to a place called HAIGH in the middle of the Nullabor Plains. Only water available was captured rain water. The house had FOUR tanks, one at each corner of the house, each tank held 5,000 gallons making all up 20,000 gallons for a family of 2 adults and 4 kids. These tanks lasted approximately 10 months, using water only for cooking/bathing/drinking/washing, no gardens of any type. Also no pressure system either, just run straight from the tanks gravity. When they ran dry, the railways sent out tanker trains which then refilled these tanks until the rains came again. My point is, (a) today, there is no consideration or room available to install rain water capture systems of any kind. (b) to install such systems, is not encouraged by our Government or Watercorp, as it interferes with their profit margins. (c) general population are incredibly ignorant of how such systems work. (D) filtering and sterilisation of such water is also beyond the capabilities of the general population. Though for the later, the water we grew up with on the Nullabor, was not filtered/sterilised in any way. But then, there was minimal pollution around in those days. 1953.

  6. and there is a housing crisis! Where are they to live? Even country towns haven’t got the accomodation for the seasonal workers they expect to come from overseas. That could be part of the reason our own folk aren;t flocking to “pick fruit”?

    Back on topic…Apart from the above long list of fertility issues from tonyryan,
    I have pondered this for many years and thought it maybe an innate collective-unconsciousness kind of auto monitoring phenomena. that we all actually “know” we have a limit. ??? Dream on. That would be such a peaceful and gentle way to step slightly backwards. I’ve mused that perhaps the whole rainbow thing was heading towards that too….pick a long term friend and enjoy peaceably. Why can’t we let people do that? Amongst consenting ADULTS.

    • Luved your post ,mate. The mention of bicycles got my attention. My son’s been trying to get me interested in electric bikes, but every bike I’ve looked at is JUNK. Couldn’t work out why, they just were very awkward to ride and handle. Then the other day came across a site on YouTube where a Canadian had visited Holland and hired one of their push bikes for the duration of his stay, and made a video of his cycling and experiences on that bike. It blew me away. He actually highlighted everything I found I hated on bikes available at the shops in Australia. The difference he made very clear, was the fact that push bikes in Holland are a necessary, reliable, comfortable, means of transport. They are not designed for sporting purposes as the majority of bikes are in Australia. He highlighted the fact you can ride their bikes sitting up with clear all around views, simple back pedal braking, with no cables brackets ect to wear or get tangled, frames made with steel to ensure long reliable life, same goes for wheels/spokes and tires designed similarly, chains totally enclosed to prevent wear and tear also avoiding clothing catching, same goes for back wheel protection to avoid dresses getting caught. Majority of bikes have carriers fitted, back or front to assist carrying your goods, have built in generators for lighting requiring no maintenance. The list just went on and on. Now if I could buy such a bike with an electric pack fitted, I’ll hand over the money lickety spit. Problem is, we don’t cater for bikes like this for general use in this country. A friend of mine recently returned from a trip to Europe, he picked up a bike over there, cause he found the walking tiresome. When he got home here, he decided to go on a trip and camping with a friend or two using their bikes. Unfortunately his bike could not handle the dirt roads and the corrugations and literly, fell to bits. He’s now looking for a proper bike for his next trip. I’ll steer him onto these Dutch bikes.

    Actually, this is a point I’ve made before, but now I’m boiling it down to the bare essentials.

    Here we go:

    If you were a) honest and b) the head of a major public health agency, there is something you would do, before declaring COVID a worldwide pandemic requiring extraordinary measures (e.g., lockdowns).

    You would carry out a study.

    A study to confirm that a newly discovered virus (SARS-CoV-2) really exists and is causing illness and death on a global scale.

    After all, that is the claim. So wouldn’t you want to prove it’s true? Wouldn’t you feel compelled to do that—rather than just SAY it’s so?

    This study wouldn’t focus on 20 or 30 or 50 patients. Those numbers are far too small. We’re not talking about the assertion of a minor viral outbreak. This is supposedly a titanic disaster.

    You would gather together a few thousand people, at minimum.

    All these people have been diagnosed with the purported pandemic infection.

    You would take tissue samples from these patients and analyze them. You would test them for the presence of the new virus.

    How could you NOT?

    —And yet, such a study WAS NEVER DONE.

    NEVER.

    Try making excuses for that omission.

    We’re talking about science on such a basic level, a child would understand it. You say X is causing a global pandemic—so test for the presence of X. Test for it in a sufficient number of people. Immediately.

    Since you’re claiming more than a billion people could become infected, surely you should test at least a few thousand people, to make sure you’re right.

    THIS WAS NEVER DONE as one complete study.

    Now, we could certainly argue about the kind of test you should run to see if the virus is present. Is the test accurate? Is it reliable? Is it relevant? Of course. I’ve covered that subject exhaustively. But here I’m putting all that aside. The point is, you WOULD test for the virus.

    Even the staunchest most rabid defenders of the existence of SARS-CoV-2 would have to agree, if they were being honest.

    In other articles, I’ve offered much proof that SARS-CoV-2 doesn’t exist—but here I’m just making the most basic of points: RUN THE STUDY, DO THE TEST.

    So what do I get in the way of replies from the “defenders?” They completely ignore the need for the wide-ranging study I’m demanding; and instead they persist in offering up small studies that focus on three patients, 40 patients—as if that is sufficient for declaring a global pandemic and wreaking massive destruction, by lockdowns and other measures.

    They keep insisting these little minor studies are sufficient. Why? Because that’s all they have. So they pretend they’re doing good science.

    They’re not.

    They’re faking it.

    Some of them know they’re faking it.

    Here’s an analogy anyone should be able to understand. Putting aside lying and cheating and fabricating in doing studies, when a company wants to gain approval from the FDA for a new drug or a new vaccine, how many people do they enroll in their clinical trials, to prove safety and efficacy?

    THOUSANDS.

    Not three, or 50.

    Pfizer enrolled 30,000 people in their clinical trial of the RNA COVID vaccine.

    Why didn’t they just enroll 40?

    Because they couldn’t get away with it.

    I’m talking about standard research practice here.

    So why doesn’t the same standard practice apply to proving the existence of a virus that is supposedly causing widespread illness and death across the world?

    The rabid defenders of the virus also try to make this point: since millions and millions of people have tested positive for SARS-CoV-2, this proves the virus exists and is causing terrible damage.

    This is what I call “after the fact” proof.

    By that standard, Pfizer would have been able to market its COVID vaccine without any clinical trials at all.

    No. The proof required for a major medical/scientific assertion comes WHEN THE ASSERTION IS FIRST MADE, before all sorts of brutal measures are taken that are based on that assertion.

    The rabid defenders of the virus twist and distort science to fit their agenda—and then claim OF COURSE everybody knows the virus exists.

    You buy what they’re selling at your own peril. They have their story and they’re telling it over and over.

    They’re naked, walking in the rain, pitching you raincoats.

      • It seems the spike proteins were understood to have the most impact on existing weaknesses in the body – depending also on where they randomly migrated to. Quite an assortment of locations / severe symptoms but the ones I’m mostly looking out for are gall bladder / appendix / heart / stroke. How they differentiate Bells Palsy / facial paralysis / stroke for example is beyond me, if the cause was the same. It’s like saying the spike proteins know exactly where the boundary is and they know not to jump across. When I had covid (after the airport opened) the last treat I enjoyed was my eyeball being invaded, the eyeball must have quite a decent blood flow since it’s evaporating fluid all the time. But don’t worry I had some IVM so I wasn’t too concerned.
