Australia Needs More Than a Change of Government: It Needs a Change of Direction

The Australian government continues to make one bad foreign policy choice after another. If you were embarrassed by the Morrison government’s blind loyalty to the regime of former United States president Donald Trump, then you were prepared for the even greater shock of the blind obeisance paid to his successor Joe Biden.

The latest manifestation of this blind following and bad foreign policy choices is the allegiance given to the awkwardly named AUKUS alliance, consisting of Australia, United Kingdom and the United States. Seemingly discarded in the rapid formation of this trio was the previously much heralded four party alliance of Australia, India, Japan and the United States. Both agreements have in common at least one binding principle; a distrust and dislike of China. That has to be modified in the light of the recent discussion by Japan’s Prime Minister with his Chinese counterpart.  It is fair to describe a 90-degree turn in Japan’s Attitude.

It is impossible to read the Australian media without coming across references to “Chinese aggression,” a formulation of China’s foreign policy that shows a total disregard for the actual facts, but it’s a convenient narrative of portraying China’s newfound “aggression” as an existential threat to Australia. Were it not for the potential consequences, such a characterisation would be almost laughable.

Coupled with this constant reiteration of China’s allegedly aggressive intentions towards Australia has been an equally fallacious depiction of China’s “genocide” of the Uighur population. This particular mischaracterisation of China’s policy towards its Uighur people has thankfully diminished in recent months, although there are occasional flurries in local media that persist in using the nomenclature.

There was a similar characterisation of the return of Hong Kong to Chinese rule. For well over a century Hong Kong had been a British colony. It was a particularly egregious example of British colonialism that they only very reluctantly considered to its return to Chinese rule, albeit with a transition period that was itself a perfect example of British arrogance. Both the British and American governments attempted to make Hong Kong’s return to Beijing rule as difficult as possible, actively fomenting local dissidents to cause trouble. Those dissidents have now either been jailed or have fled the territory and much less is being heard nowadays about their fate.

Attention has now turned to Taiwan, and it was recently disclosed by the Washington Post (although not a secret to the Beijing government) that American forces are present in Taiwan and “training” the locals. That training can only be in the use of the vast quantity of United States weapons that the Americans have sold to Taiwan. The Taiwanese would be extremely unwise to rely on United States training as any significant part of their defence policies. The presence of United States military for training purposes does not have a good record as the Vietnamese, Iraqis and Afghanis can readily testify.

It does however give the Americans the opportunity to stir up trouble in the region, as their deployment of multiple warships amply testifies. In this piece of flagrantly provocative behaviour, Americans are joined by the Australian Navy, in an exercise given very little publicity in this country. It is yet another count in the indictment the Chinese are gathering against Australia, most obviously manifested in a squeeze being placed on Australian exports across a wide range of products.

The Chinese have stated quite bluntly that Australia will pay a price for its subservience to the United States provocations in the South China Sea and elsewhere in the region. The trade sanctions follow the diplomatic freeze that has been placed on ministerial level encounters between the Chinese and their Australian counterparts. That diplomatic freeze is also a topic that the Australian media persist in ignoring. Given the importance of China as a purchaser of Australian goods in recent decades, to the point where they accounted for 40% of all exports in 2019–2021 one might have thought that it would be a major topic for the media and a cause of vocal concern for the Australian Labor Party. Instead, the topic is almost completely avoided. Why is this so?

Not the least of the silence comes from Marise Payne who is supposedly Australia’s foreign minister. Her silence is astonishing. She is almost completely invisible in her role as foreign minister. A recent appearance by this person on local television publicised her visit, and that of one other minister to Washington. Most likely it was to receive more instructions about what Australia has to do to remain in the good books of the Americans.

This is essentially a colonial mentality at the root of Australian subservience to the wishes of the Americans and to a lesser extent the British. What our politicians need to do is look at a map, followed by an investigation of the trade figures. The continent of Australia sits at the southern end of the Asian landmass. Most of Australia’s main trading partners are from the region. The vast bulk of Asian countries have good relations with China, with most of them signed up to China’s Belt and Road Initiative, which encompasses more than 140 countries.

Most people will remember the reaction of the Australian government when the state of Victoria attempted to sign up to the BRI. The government passed special legislation to forbid Victorian involvement with the scheme. What were the government afraid of?  Most of Australia’s neighbours have signed up, including Indonesia and New Zealand and other important states such as Australia’s new friend, India. None of those countries exhibit the xenophobia which is a distinguishing characteristic of the Australian government.

Many years ago the Singaporean Prime Minister Lee Kuan Yew predicted that Australia would become “the poor man of Asia”. His predictions were not accepted at the time. The present Australian government seems hellbent on making it come true. Is that what the Australian people want?  They are starved of political choice at the moment, with the Labor opposition seemingly anxious not to differentiate themselves from the xenophobia that is such an obvious characteristic of the government.

It is not too late for a change of attitude and behaviour. Failure to do so will however have disastrous consequences for this country.

          • Some of them used to throw the wife on the fire in India and if you read the Conquest of Mexico by Cortez or whatever that book was, which I’m sure you have, they were even more crazy with their pyramid sacrifices.   4. James… No doubt you can think of a non-sinister motive for 1.2 million Chinese being sent money from China to buy up Australian residential and arable land, these invaders holding citizenship, not required to be cleared by FIRB. This is invasion, 21st century style.

    Frankly, I am as hostile to your obseisance to China as I am to anyone supporting our puppet role under the American Empire. Both entities are oblivious to Australia’s needs, and both merely want to steal our resources.

    Am I anti-Chinese? No. I occasionally encounter Chinese who speak Australian and, to me, they are just Australians, but most arrogantly speak Mandarin in public. This speaks volumes.

    In the NT, the Fightback and mRNA Resistance are in the process of conjoining. On Saturday 16th, more than 2000 Darwinites marched, roaring “Fuck you Gunner”; and on Saturday 23, even more will march, to restore freedom in the NT.   7. I only read the first 3 paragraphs of the story, it is an astonishingly uninformed “opinion”. I’ll just mention the CCP sent an unarmed ICBM (“Long March” rocket) over Sydney about a week ago at very low altitude, and also sent one over Japan, then they claimed (probably yesterday) these were re-useable space rocket tests. I don’t know if they sent one over India too.

    • Lee Kuan Yew didn’t say poor man, he said “poor white trash” and Mahathir echoed it when Keating called him recalcitrant, for not getting on board with some scheme, no doubt some ripoff scheme, the Malaysians were ripped off later anyway by 1MDB, was that a corruption backed by Goldman-Sachs ? I forget. Leading to the the PM being deposed recently.
      The author of the story above seems to frame our position as a choice between BAD and GOOD which is simplistic, misleading and wrong, the choice is between BAD and WORSE.
      The story that Chinese have rocket supremacy is nonsense, the supremacy is at “Space-X”, controlled I guess by Swissy but based in the US.
      “Talk softly and carry a big stick”, is an idea the CCP seems to understand very little of. So the US with enough nukes to blow up the world ten times over should be in fear of an emerging or developing country ? Everything is a ploy. Everything is a lie. Every appearance is designed to deceive. Every action is pre-considered, in order to dupe. Only the public is stupid enough to take it all at face-value.

  8. w3 I am disappointed with your latest comment. Has there been any evidence that China sent an unarmed ICBM over Sydney recently. We are told by the msm of this event, but we know they are serial lies. From accounts that I heard this rocket seen over Sydney (if it was a rocket) came to Earth in the exact opposite direction on our planet — supposedly near Sri Lanka north of the Maldives. This to me seems unrealistic.

    What concerns me is the number of Aussies that really believe China is the threat that is portrayed. In my opinion if China had wanted to take over Australia it could have done so at many times in the past. It is the same sort of story that we were told in the 50’s and 60’s about communism advancing on Australia. A thinking person knows that an ideal can only take over a country from within. As was the case the number of Aussies against communism prevent such an outcome. It was not because we followed US into Vietnam. As history tells us the communist forces beat the US / Aussie forces and took control of South Vietnam. That did not mean that communism was able to take over Australia as our politicians had been telling us would happen.

    Why do our politicians keep spitting in the eye of our largest trading partner? Because they see political advantage in that action. History is keen to repeat itself. As in history previous to World War II, Germany was forced into a war because the Zionists refused to allow it to trade with other countries. The same was true in regard to Japan. So the best way to get China to attack Australia militarily is to stop trading with it. That would give that country an excuse to take the raw materials required in today’s world by force. Of course to stop trading would also be non beneficial to the Australian way of life. However the World Economic Forum have found a different way to do that.

    • Chinese are developing their own resources, they are our “newest” trading partner and their spectacular growth has probably fizzled already, their big development company Evergrande is falling apart, with all the empty hi-rises.
      The “Long March” rocket over Sydney I first saw on high quality citizen journalism, and the one over Japan was on the Japanese news I think.
      Just on Japan, they were forced to OPEN to trading, by gunships as I vaguely recall ?
      The Germans wanted rail access to the oilfields, all the countries between Germany and Turkey were allies with the Germans, though they probably only had pitchforks for weapons.
      There’s a word for the new empire challenging the established empire but I can’t remember it.

      Communism has already infiltrated Australia, as we saw with the Germans in the 1930’s, the socialists get infiltrated by the fascists and by the time anyone notices it’s too late. Rockerfellas Foundation follows this model of behaviour.
      The first amendment is what distinguishes the US from any other country that I know of, but it’s up to citizens to make use of it. Australia needs a bill of rights, but it wouldn’t be much use without a big enough citizen army, at present we have nothing. The invasion of Australia (by some northern neighbour) was worked out in monetary terms and it was decided that nobody could afford to get an army across the desert, getting strafed all the way. Wars have to be paid for and if you want someone else to pay, first you have to achieve some type of hegemony. Nothing is so wonderful as being able to print money and export this product across the world. It has no known equal. It is an invention on the scale of fire, the wheel and anti-gravity ( apparently not achieved yet ). It is a design of slavery that is so simple yet so sophisticated that nearly everyone just goes along with it. The monetary system along with education / media / medical brainwashing is a marvel to behold. They have created an abundance of totally mind-kontrolled lemmings.

      Just on Zionists, it’s strange they are supposed to have “taken over the world” in the last century or so without actually taking over Greater Zion, and apparently the next thing is to have the greatest battle in history there. One might imagine all of this was put into train by someone who didn’t much like jews.
      It seems to me all the stuff about jews is scuttlebutt, put about by someone who doesn’t like jews. When considering jews’ ( I use lower case because it’s an undefined term, not a pronoun ) place in the world, remember that at least a million got killed relatively recently (source: Nuremberg prosecutor video) and survivors were therefore “naturally selected”.     • It was reported over Sydney weeks back as a “boomerang shaped” UFO, with locals looking up at it vacuously like the partiers in the Independence Day movie. What they saw was the atmospheric wake of the missile creating the “V” shape.     I for one am more inclined to listen and learn from the likes of Matthew Ehret, Daniel Dumbrill and Brian Berletic (I don’t really follow Carl Zha) than stay imprisoned in the Colin Powell post-truth capsule. I simply don’t get it that readers cannot see the pattern involving Iraq’s WMDs, Syria’s poison gas and now China’s ‘Uygur genocide’ and threats to China (aka Taiwan), and the information sources. The talking hawks simply give me nothing to resonate with, yet like w3 they are right once every 24 hours.

    (PS – Brian Berletic does need to be gently eased into the truth of 911, but when he talks about “when America was attacked” he is rally only coming from a position of naivety and ignorance; he is not pushing the narrative. Same thing with everything we have been told about WWI and WWII – we are all blissfully ignorant until we disclose the truth.)

    • Last time round x22 was saying the CCP sent an ICBM rocket right around the world, this is not in orbit but atmospheric I think. Maybe the CCP’s biggest ever failure was in not getting the entire world to adopt its one-child policy, and keep it going, until we were down to one billion.

  18. The state premier came on and said all the workers have to be injected, I work from home so I’m not affected. The premier would not look up so it seemed as if he was not proud of what he was doing. My reaction was that I immediately went to the computer and applied to join Craig Kelly’s party and offered to work as a volunteer. When I typed uap.org.au into the address bar the kaspersky (russian anti-virus) tried to prevent me from accessing the site, with warnings, and tricks.
