Australia’s Relentless Pursuit of Policies Contrary to its National Interest

If there is one singular feature for which the Morrison government will be remembered it is that its blind adherence to the United States’ view of the world that led to the destruction of our once valuable Chinese trading system. Successive Australian governments since at least the 1990s recognised the growing economic importance of China and gladly directed their trade relationships there.

By 2019 China accounted for more than 40% of all Australian exports, with coal, wine, other agricultural products and above all iron ore were the dominant sources of Australia’s trading wealth. That is all in the process of being destroyed. If one wished to locate a dominant factor in this decline one would need to look no further than the incredible ineptness of the Morrison government.

In 2019 the Australian Prime Minister, Morrison, openly questioned the role of China in the outbreak of the coronavirus currently infecting the world. There is little doubt that in doing so, Morrison was acting on behalf of the Americans, the primary source of most foreign policy initiatives that stem from Canberra.

It is true that the world first became aware of the virus following its appearance at the Chinese city of Wuhan in late 2018. Aided by the relentless propaganda from the United States, and in particular its president Donald Trump, a major effort was made to label it the “Chinese virus.” Specifically, it was alleged that the virus originated in a Chinese laboratory in the city of Wuhan which at the time was host to the world military games.

Despite the almost complete absence of evidence to support this allegation, the western media, and in particular the United States version, expended enormous effort in promoting the Wuhan laboratory theory as the virus’s origin.

It was to this general, and Ill-informed hysteria, that Morrison lent the weight of his government. The Chinese reaction was unsurprising, they denied any responsibility for one of their laboratories being the source of the virus. That denial received some powerful support from independent medical researchers, including, but not limited to, the United Kingdom’s Lancet magazine.

An international body set up by the World Health Organisation to investigate the virus has recently reported its findings. It provided no support for the escaped virus theory, much less did it support the argument that the Chinese have been derelict in their reporting of the virus.

The Australian government has remained silent in the face of this evidence. Whether an apology for their premature accusations would do any good is a moot point. The Chinese were understandably furious at the Australian attitude, and the total lack of remorse over the falsity of the initial accusations. They took action against the import of a wide range of Australian imports. At last count, the monetary value of the lost Chinese market is approximately $40 billion. Only iron ore has so far escaped the carnage, and that owes more to the current absence of alternative sources than to any other factor.

It would be incredibly naïve to expect iron ore to retain its present position. Although it is the world’s largest source of iron ore, with about 50% of the total, its export position is enhanced by the problems currently being experienced in Brazil, the world’s second largest source with almost one third of the total. Their problems will be overcome in the foreseeable future. Russia is the world’s third largest source with about 25% of the total reserves and is rapidly increasing exports to China, reflecting the growing trade relationship between the two countries.

Apart from exports, China has also been the largest source of foreign students in Australian universities, and the largest source of foreign tourists. It is widely known that the Chinese government has been actively encouraging the students to look elsewhere for their studies. Foreign visitor numbers have been badly hit by the virus, but again it would be naïve to expect a return to the previous prominence of Chinese numbers once the virus has been defeated.

All of this amounts to a spectacular own goal by the Australian government. Instead of taking any steps to repair the relationship the Australian government has pretended to be instead the innocent injured party.

One cannot expect the Prime Minister to admit that his whole approach has been profoundly wrong. He seems incapable of admitting that he has ever made a mistake, and this current situation with China is a classic illustration of the point.

To compound the error, the Australian government recently passed legislation giving itself the power to veto any relationships that the States might have entered into with foreign countries. This was clearly aimed at Victoria they had signed an agreement with China as part of the latter’s Belt and Road Initiative project.

This is a further illustration of the Australian government’s blind adherence to the American viewpoint. The United States, like Australia, has refused to sign up to the BRI (unlike 140 countries around the world) and is instead pursuing a half-baked alternative scheme with India, Japan and the United States. There could be fewer clearer examples of pursuing a policy to suck up to the Americans with an absence of any discernible Australian benefit in view.

If one looks to the Labor Opposition, they display exactly the same anti-China attitudes and policies. It is difficult to determine any rational basis for this policy. One is left with the conclusion that allegiance to the Americans ranks higher than the Australian national interest. The full consequences of this profoundly stupid policy have yet to be determined. What is certain is that it will not be good for Australia.

    The Pentagon has recently acquired access to four new Norwegian bases, two in the Arctic Circle, which has caused serious concerns for the Russian Foreign Ministry. And Admiral Alexander Moiseyev, the commander of Russia’s Northern Fleet, has recently expressed alarm over the increasing presence of U.S. and other NATO nations’ ships and submarines in the Barents Sea and Norwegian Sea, which he said is at the highest level since World War II. (Evidently meaning vessels from nations that later joined NATO.)

    He also condemned larger and more frequent NATO military drills that are occurring closer to Russian borders and the recent prevalence of nuclear-capable strategic bombers near Russia’s northwest and Arctic borders. All of which, he warned, have caused “an increase of the conflict potential in the Arctic.”

    The recent docking of the U.S. nuclear submarine USS New Mexico near Tromsø in northern Norway could not have reassured him.

    The 21st century has seen the top of the world become a strategic battlefield in which NATO and Russia are facing off against each other.

    • I can’t work out if you’ve cut and pasted most bits of this info / tirade 3 times or 6 in a row but it’s a refreshing change that your’e not howling out your window about jews as usual, it’s better if you can maintain a slightly wider scope than one simple fixation.
      I was thinking about the origins of the term “Judeo Christian” and it occurs to me that the reason for the imbalance, (that is, there are so many jews in power in proportion to christians), is that the original christians were privileged italians and the original judeos were … privileged inhabitants of Judea I suppose. So basically we have jew bankers and italian mafia, (in the loosest sense of the words), hiding behind religion. That would strike a more equal balance between Judeo and Christian and also well represent the present arrangements where we have lots of italians in key positions, Pelosi, Fauci, Cuomo, to name a few, we’ll call the pope an honorary Italian for convenience.

    By the way, Australia’s loss of its position as human rights leader in the international arena (yes, we did have that reputation) must be a disappointment to many Chinese people at home and in the diaspora. I can say for sure that many students in Adelaide, from China and other Asian countries, want the Western view of individual rights to prevail. They want to enjoy life free from fear, like us — oops, I mean like the the former us.

This morning on channel 7 they were saying the CCP was telling us, if we side with the US or Taiwan in saying Taiwan is independent then they will be sending some missiles our way, the expert whose name I think is Keith Suiter, was saying the missiles would go to Pine Gap and North West Cape US army installations.
    The fact is that Taiwan was (illegally?) invaded by Chiangkai Shek about 1949, the CCP has no special claim on it, when they say “Taiwan is part of China” they mean “Taiwan is projected to become part of the CCP empire”. China is China, everyone knows, it is the “middle kingdom” inbetween Mongolia and the ASEAN countries. When did it ever include Tibet or Taiwan ? Or islands off the Philippines ? Only since the CCP started building their empire.
    The fact now is that the US has a chip manufacturing plant on Taiwan and they won’t let it go. The other fact is that if the CCP picks a fight with the US it will be annihilated. Russia won’t defend them in a unilateral provocation. Nothing will happen. It is all drum-beating by the usual idiots.
    For my part I am happy for Australia to go back to all the other countries to trade with and exclude the CCP. They have done their dash, their growth spurt is over, they are going into demographic decline, their economic growth is going nowhere. They are building ww2 style battleships, who cares. They are building aircraft carriers but they can’t manufacture jet engines, they have to buy them from Russia. They want the Taiwanese chip factory. One empire is much the same as another in terms of belligerence, ruthlessness etc., but at least the US has a semblance of FREE SPEECH and a respected constitution which is all about RIGHTS and that is the single biggest difference. Anyway it should be an interesting year even without ww3. I wish things would move a bit faster.

    • I must admit that the first time I saw the Attwood bod I thought he was rather creepy, slimy, a bit like your average politician trying to appear to be one thing while doing another. There are heaps of them like the recently exposed “Sacha Stone” (another one that gave me the creeps as I think I said right from the get go). Annett is one that I had been warned about long before I had any exposure to him.

      The thing that appears common to all these (and there are many more) is the kind of anarchy that they espouse. The notions of right and wrong are just a kind of opinion that they sell in which some ONE is not guilty because of crimes they commit but by association with something that these bods despise.

      I think that it cannot be doubted that the crookedest criminals always aspire to positions of authority and indemnity but that does not mean that the necessary authority should be replaced with an anarchy of arbitrary upstarts. Fix it is not the same as fark it or destroy it. I contend that the only thing worse than a “legal” tyranny is a worse and arbitrary tyranny arising out of anarchy; the anarchy of an autonomy that assumes that good and evil is determined personally according to fashion or convenience.

      • Oldavid, I have watched Annett for a long time and have no creepy feelings about him. Nor is he an anarchist. At least I would never had thought it until this Attwood interview where he slightly hints at it.

        He has tried, creatively, many means of using traditional institutions and is still using common law. At the moment he is under a new threat of arrest. He deserves our support.

    Just goes to show how dim witted are those narcissists whom call them selves scientists and the gullible soak it up as fact with the conniving of the mass media and globalist controlled politicians.
    Reminds me of all those who believe that they are ‘chosen by God’ inserted into the Schofield bible.

      What about some thoughts from our geopolitical analyst? After all, a colleague and legal counsel who has spent decades debating evidence in court might have a submission to make to a court, if produced by a witness with a opinion presented from the witness box as in the Turin video.
      Go for it James, let us hear the cross examination.

      If the shroud of Turin is proven genuine to the world majority, even if disclosed in censored China, does that cause any reconsideration of your geopolitical, world assessment. i

          • Strange that you mention Jacques de Molay along with the Shroud, Kevin. Isn’t that the de Molay that devised the ‘Masonic boy’s club where they select and groom compliant ideologues for promotion into positions of influence?

          • Thanks, however I’ve seen much better videos on the Shroud. What I was looking for was a Carbon 14 test on a portion of the original Shroud. The test in 1978 took a portion that had been repaired with cotton thread and gave false readings. That test was proved conclusively to have given false readings and the readings were consistent with a combination of the original Shroud and the dyed cotton patch.

            Was there a subsequent test of the material from the original Shroud?

          • I’m not aware of any recent samples of cloth taken for C14 testing.

            C14 testing is only of very limited use in some very specific circumstances, in part because the whole process relies on pretty basic assumptions that are unproven and, I suspect, unprovable.

            For something like the Shroud that has been exposed to some 20 centuries of contaminants like dust, pollen, smoke, bodily oils, shed skin cells from its handlers (to mention just a few of the possible contaminants that would skew any dating that relied on decay of isotopes) making any such attempts barely more than of curiosity interest.
