Farewell to Australian Independence in Latest Defence Agreement With the US and UK.

By James O’Neill*

The recently announced deal between the United States, United Kingdom, and Australia for the provision of nuclear-powered submarines for the Australian Navy was an announcement that caught a lot of people by surprise, not least the French who had until that moment a contract with Australia for the provision of submarines to this country with an estimated value of $90 billion.

The new deal marks a very sad day for Australia, for it represents a loss of sovereignty in foreign policy. It will in all probability be nearly 20 years before the first submarine actually arrives in Australian waters. There is speculation that in the interim the United States may lease one or more of its nuclear-powered submarines to Australia. United States’ control of these ships will almost certainly remain, not least because Australia currently lacks a single sailor with experience in controlling a nuclear-powered ship of any description, little alone one with the particular needs of submarine warfare.

A little-known element of the deal reached between Australia and the United States is that Australian ports will become more open to visits by United States ships, some of which will undoubtedly be stationed here. Those ships will carry nuclear weapons. It is part of the appalling secrecy of the Morrison government that they have not disclosed this fact, and part of the complete hopelessness of the Labor “opposition” that they have not challenged it.

The deal also reveals some interesting points about the Australian government’s mindset. It is a classic white man’s alliance, with Australia once again ignoring the sensitivities of Asian neighbours. There have been media reports that Indonesia and Malaysia, among others, are deeply concerned about the announcement. Both of those countries, important regional friends of Australia, do not want nuclear-powered ships in their region.

That is an entirely understandable reaction. It is one shared by New Zealand, one of the most important of Australia’s neighbours and allies, who have already announced that no nuclear-powered submarines will be welcome in their waters. This is a long-standing New Zealand policy, shared by both the major parties, and one that enjoys overwhelming support from an obviously better informed general public.

The three-nation agreement appears also to ride roughshod over the four-nation agreement (with Japan and India) that was previously touted as the magic key to protect Australia’s safety. India and Japan have the unfortunate disadvantage of not being white-skinned and hence rank lower in the United States and Australian eyes as worthy of respect.

The whole scheme is clearly aimed at China, and the Chinese have been very clear in announcing their displeasure at the whole program. This only reinforces the stupidity of the Australian plan. Even those with only a token knowledge of the role of China understand that its position has changed radically in the past 20 years. By some measures, their GDP is now greater than that of the United States. They have forged a variety of regional and world trade agreements that Australians are at best only vaguely aware of.

It is not difficult to imagine that China’s position will be vastly stronger 20 years from now when the submarines actually come into service. But Australia has long held a false image of China. It is represented for example, in the refusal to join the Belt and Road Initiative, now embracing more than 130 of the world’s nations. It will be recalled that the state of Victoria sought to join the scheme and received special legislation from the federal government to cancel any arrangements they had made.

That all of Australia’s neighbours, including New Zealand and Indonesia, have joined the Belt and Road Initiative has had no effect on the Australian government. Its hostility confirms the view that the scheme is “Chinese” and therefore not worthy of serious consideration. It confirms in my view the essentially racist nature of Australian foreign policy, of which the latest “defence” agreement with two white imperialist powers, the United States and the United Kingdom, is ample proof.

Perhaps once the details of the latest deal to buy United States submarines are known to the public, and its implications for Australian freedom to decide its own defence policies are revealed as non-existent, there may be a public reaction against it. That may be too optimistic. The more likely consequence is that the public will shrug their collective shoulders and happily surrender what little remains of your foreign policy freedom. If so, there will be much to regret.

    • On a sunny 25 degree day I might be able to forget about my arthritis
That doesn’t mean that it’s not there
Because as soon as the temperature drops….

      • Independence is a post-war fantasy, probably has some connection with the old “tyranny of distance” which doesn’t exist anymore. And we can see it has all been fully usurped in a matter of months, just on the basis of a bunch of lies, mostly coming through the TV.
Liars of every shade come on one after another stealing our imaginary freedom. Despite having an immensely valuable continent, we are denied a means of protecting it for ourselves. We are simply expected to rely on the UK / US and it has always been thus.
So the premise of the story is wrong. We never had freedom to start with.

        • By the dawn of the 20th century Britain’s ability to manage the colonies was in decline so between then and WW2 a sense of freedom took root but the battle of the coral sea proved that it was never anything more than that.

    • W. HUGHES, Premier of Australia, Saturday Evening Post, June 19, 1919 “The Montefiores have taken Australia for their own, and there is not a gold field or a sheep run from Tasmania to New South Wales that does not pay them a heavy tribute. They are the real owners of the antipodean continent. What is the good of our being a wealthy nation, if the wealth is all in the hands of German Jews?”

  1. “It confirms in my view the essentially racist nature of Australian foreign policy, of which the latest “defence” agreement with two white imperialist powers, the United States and the United Kingdom, is ample proof.” – Ample proof? Perhaps it could also be blamed on global warming.

    • It’s not entirely “racism” because we have the same corruption in China as in the US and here, a clear difference being that in the US we can understand what they’re saying. This is important in mafia deals. For an indication here is a video previously provided by DdV:

and note the follow-up video “what is China doing at Bagram airbase” … did Sleepy Joe actually sell all that Afghanistan stuff to China, when sleepy Joe was crying about never returning to Delaware, does that mean he will be spending his dotage in China ( after “dying from brain cancer” ), seems like a sensible exit strategy … when is his flight booked ?

      • CCP delegation goes to Bagram airbase, collecting stuff

Seems Swissy’s plan together with the CCP is to divide Pakistan / Afghanistan off from India, this drives India toward the AUKUS thing previously known as “the square” I think, where China was to be surrounded by India, Australia, Japan & US or some such notion.
So we have Europe loosely aligned with one-belt-road and Swissy hiding in the middle cashing in. The anglo crowd on the other side, includes Zionist infiltrators playing both sides I guess. Basically a lot of players, playing any side they can.
They drive up the tension by splitting the world clearly into two halves, along the old lines of 1st world, 2nd world, 3rd world. It’s good for arms sales, and also solves Swissy’s big problem of nice tourist destinations being overrun with stupid slobs.
Like any committee there has to be something for everyone, this requires extracting the absolute maximum from the non-participants, that is, the 99.99% of us.

        • Sorry it’s called “The Quad” not the square and the big quad meeting is on the 25th, the same day as the Arizona audit release. That’s interesting in that John Howard was invited to Washington 20 years ago for 9-11 which he spent in a bunker and now Scotty is there for the AZaudit, who knows what sort of bunker they will stick him in by the weekend. And leading up to this auspicious day they are talking about other things in particular how they are going to INJECT all of us for a benign delta variant which isn’t causing any special problems anywhere, despite HCQ & IVM being banned by crooked genocidal BigPharma. Well it’s good India is floating around since they have dealt with the “pandemic” by normal means, if we had real MSM journalists they would expose this but I don’t think there will be any initiative shown AT ALL from that quarter.

      • I truly believe Joe Biden is in Chinas pocket, look at the $10m the “big guy” got. So yes it would not suprise me that the weapons etc are going to China. Good plan……get Hunter Biden drunk or high and he would spill the beans!

  2. Can’t we just all get along. Lets buy one from the US, UK, Germany(or Swiss via Dresden), China, hell throw in a Russian October job.(ooh la la) Its all good for GDP growth.
As a start to white reparations I propose the HMAS Barry Soetoro to be the first commissioned in recognition of his advances in use use of drone bombing

    • Good call, but anyone doesn’t know the name Barry Soetoro that is the award winning actor starring as Barack O’bama from the Hollywood production POTUS 2008-16

      • shhh, they could connect Whinestein possibly exposing Harpo Winfree. We don’t need a Good Club though I would never discriminate against the members from having one.

  3. James, what is the current situation re the Joint Committee on Ratification (?) of Treaties? I mean is the agreement you described already set in concrete? Per sec 61 of the Aus Con, the queen has power to enter Australia into a treaty. I recall (from the good old MAI days in 1999) that the public had to be given at least 15 days to submit a comment on a proposed treaty.

Bring it on! (That’s per statute, not the Con, and it has no teeth but I think it’s important. You could make a stink.)

In the US we say a treaty needs 2/3 approval by Senate. But, if I understand corectly, the president got that before signing. The following is from the website senate.gov:

“The United States Constitution provides that the president ‘shall have Power, by and with the Advice and Consent of the Senate, to make Treaties, provided two-thirds of the Senators present concur’ (Article II, section 2). The Senate does not ratify treaties. Following consideration by the Committee on Foreign Relations, the Senate either approves or rejects a resolution of ratification. If the resolution passes, then ratification takes place when the instruments of ratification are formally exchanged between the United States and the foreign power(s).”

In both Oz and US, domestic legislation is needed (if relevant) before the treaty can work.

    • The Queen no longer wears a Crown nor does the Pope. All earthly power at present resides with the Crown City of London which is not a part of Britain nor the E.U.

  4. This is a bit like seriously discussing italian art and architecture as Rome burns.

How can one write an article and get every single piece of history, and future projections, so hopelessly wrong?

A rhetorical question because the reason is obvious. if one is a busy barrister for decades, one has no time for genuine geopolitics. But come retirement, there is the ongoing presumption of superiority endemic to legal eagles. So a retiree’s casual pickings from the Australian and Time Magazine over four decades is rebranded as geopolitical analysis. Add to that a compulsive belief in China’s destiny as the next world empire.

First misconception: We have had no sovereign foreign policy since 1947. But we did retain the right to make our own guns and land mines. As of 1973, policy was shaped by Rupert Murdoch and his Rockefeller alliance. In 1975, the CIA and MI6 ensured all policy was formulated in NY and London..

The current policy change has nothing whatsoever to do with China. It is all to do with financing future US wars, because blowing military research and development funds on Afghanistan has led to the US being behind the 8 ball.

Biden wants to tax the NATO members to make up the $2.5 trillion deficit, but it’s not enough. And White Hall played hard ball and demanded its only industry gets front running… its armaments industry. Hence the UK aspect of the alliance.

Bonn is furious because it loses ground, relative to London, hence the sympathy for Macron.

As for the nuclear subs, there is no way in hell we are ever going to operate these subs. As usual, we are kindly permitted to provide cannon fodder. That and join NATO and “pay our way”.

Absolutely nothing has changed. We are the 51st state, the one without representation, or even a voice. And now, instead of worrying about being shot or jabbed by our own soldiers, the job wil be done by Brits already cleared for this task a decade ago.

Now this role might well be a genuine local initiative. I suspect that Scomo has realised that our army boys might not be prepared to kill us, which is what they told me in 1994. Hence the outsourcing for some khaki bovver boys, so to speak.

All of this is telling me that reading this site in the forlorn hope of expanding the Resistance, would be time better spent doing the actual job.

    • “Doing the actual job,” Tony? Get thee hence to a nunnery and read my book Keep the Republic (honest, you can omit the too-American stuff). It’s a free download. How to locate it? Go to the top of Gumshoe home page and click on the word BOOKS.

    • They have a gestapo guy on TV at the moment making threats, of course everyone should know you are not allowed to walk down the street because of this terrible virus that nobody else in the world is much troubled about. Huge football crowds in the US, business as usual in India, the drama and excitement never even got started in Africa, but in Melbourne where the leadership is sold out, the police go into combat mode against anyone daring to go for a walk in the street.
And prior to that there was a traitorous shill of the brown skinned persuasion trying to sell quaxxines to the aboriginies. Takeup has only been around 10% !!! Congratulations aboriginies, you obviously have recent memories of attempted genocide and can’t be fooled so easily.
All in all, the behaviour of our authorities has been utterly sickening, and their day will come. Nobody will lose sight of what these uber-villains have been up to. It has gone way too far. Forgive and forget will be a mirage for this delusional bunch of megalomaniacs. The truth is coming out. Vile and nauseating liars, you will end up with nothing.

      • I wonder how much of what is going on in Melbourne could be fixed by simply hanging Dan from a lamp post. Who would give the orders then?

      • And on a personal note, my daughter turns 11 on Friday. She asked her 2 closest friends to have a sleepover. I consider myself best friends with one of the mums, I love her. We met at mothers group, the girls are born one day apart, only children, so like sisters and I’m proud to be referred to as her 2nd mum. I pick her up every Thursday after school for dinner, I don’t think a weeks gone by when I haven’t seen her since meeting at mother’s group.
I just had a call from that friend. Her daughter won’t be coming over Friday night. She thinks it’s best her daughter is not inside with unvaccinated people, for the time being.
How happy this must make those in charge of our health and well-being.

        • “She thinks it’s best her daughter is not inside with unvaccinated people” – What a moron. So she thinks an unvaccinated person that doesn’t have the disease, can give the disease to someone that has been vaccinated against the disease.

I’m so over all the stupid people. This mass psychosis has truly turned into a de-facto IQ test. I expect it really is in your interest to stay away from such people. If one of them begins to experience the effects of ADE it is VERY likely you will be blamed for their stupidity.

          • Yes the concept of mass psychosis is being raised lately and this can’t be understated, they have already lost their powers of reasoning. A handful of politicians and top bureaucrats are responsible (as in ww2)

    • Unlike most bods on these pages I’m convinced that each and every aspect of the bullying that’s taken place since March 2020 has been based on fear of losing control.
The irony being that if you were to ask any cop if the respective measures have increased or diminished their ability to coral a mob ………………

        • There’s a world of difference between an organised strategy to gain control and a fear of losing it. So far as I’m concerned individuals such as Dan Andrews are the personification of the latter, the entire modus operandi being that of a wild animal cornered, a frantic hissing spitting creature that’s far from harmless but just as far from commanding.

The phenomena isn’t exactly uncommon, the classic example being parents who scream at their kids and kids who consequently wind up with a complete lack of respect for any form of authority. It might well create the perfect climate for some sort of ruthless faux leadership to get a foothold but it doesn’t actually have anything to do with setting up any such thing per se, in fact, as already pinpointed, it’s the antithesis of political manipulation

          • The “Beast system” spelled out in Revelation is actually based on the pretext that the World’s ills can be cured purely by human works/effort; in other words it’s based on altogether denying the need for Christ/ Divine intervention thereby playing right into Satan’s hands

  6. As an aside, I have just started reading ‘Return to Moscow’ by Tony Kevin.

    Dedication:
“This book is dedicated to the unique resilience and courage of the Russian people, who have triumphed over unimaginable cruelties at the hands of both invaders and their own past rulers, to create a society that is today worthy of admiration; to the beauties of Russia’s landscape, history and culture; and to the grace of Russia’s women who continue to inspire, me, in life as in art.”
    … Tony Kevin

After the first 50 pages I am finding it a thoroughly agreeable and informative read.

I stumbled across Tony incidentally (via Caitlin Johnstone I recall) and I found him so genuine that I was compelled to buy his book.

  7. From a simpleton’s view, it all goes back to Sarajevo 108 years ago. Renaissance Catholic Europe had to be crushed, because then as today, traditional family life which was the essence of arts and crafts honed and passed from generation to generation, the main obstacle to internationalism now called globalism. Same players, four generations past now in hands of the fifth, Crown Zionist elite enforcing communism on our mass.
When Russian and Eastern European ‘wall’ supposedly fell in nineties, simultaneously all ‘western’ industry was shifted to CCP. This was no coincidence, but an envisioned dystopian black handed deal between Churchill Stalin and Roosevelt, the protocols for world enslavement.
Military industrial with tv screen brainwashing the tools used.
Now with bio-weapons and cyber surveillance, conventional hardware obsolete but still necessary for depopulation agenda. War a game for players licking their wounds, as collectors count the money in billions at taxpayers blood sweat and tears. Snoops and goons, have been rewarded on bases loaded, from all creeds and colours enforcing satanic agenda now visible eugenics genocide. Oz a nation abundantly rich with raw materials, spoils shared by oligarchs only, the krown kabal komunist triumverate mandating mark of beast with dragon’s red fire hellbent.

The only obstacle to this artificial insanity is the natural order revealed by Jesus, with His two laws for living.

The polar end ignorantly stupid in realising truth, blinded believing lies for innocent lives to ‘freedom’.

  8. In all the news today ( just look up on duckduckgo ) the CCP is not going to build any more coal fired power stations in other countries, this is disguised as an environment move, but obviously finance comes first, they no longer have confidence in their customers to pay, or the CCP’s ability to make them pay, or else thy simply looked in their accounts and found they could’t cover all these projects.
The English / US empire has much more experience in all the ripoffs so I don’t give the CCP much of a chance in a finance war.
Biden may be selling out the US as fast as he can but the president’s most tangible and enduring power is probably in hiring and firing, firing is probably restricted by a need to prove an individual was not doing the job properly.

Canaan the son of Ham – took by force Shems’ inheritance, [Shem, from whom came the term Semite ] that being the land called Palestine today. Judah married a Canaanite woman and thus except for one pure line beginning with the Tamar/Judah union from whom Christ came, Judah became mixed and degenerate by following Nimrods’ [the grandson of Ham] Babylonian pagan idolatry or Baal worship. The priests of Nimrod the founder of Babylon wore black robes.

    • Let’s take all the imaginings about morality out, there exists no substantial morality in this.
My knowledge of Taiwan history after 1945 is based on some easy guesswork, I can’t be bothered with historians and their books.
Taiwan and Korea were part of the Japanese empire. After ww2 most americans probably had little appetite for wars especially wars of expansionism. No matter how the Korean war was dressed up ( propaganda such as the TV series M.A.S.H. ) nobody much in the US would have liked to storm into Taiwan. They already gave away the Philippines after winning them in the Spanish war many decades before. Too far away, too much trouble, but rightfully perhaps, belonging to the US as “spoils of war”.
Next the Chiangkai Shek crowd poured into Taiwan complicating things further. Now the US has sponsored Taiwan, they have the worlds biggest motor plant (TECO) the worlds biggest chips plant (Taiwan Semiconductor) and they had a big HCQ factory until it was destroyed late last year. Taiwan is a virtual territory of the US and that is underwritten by the presence of the industry as mentioned, more effectively than any treaty.
When the expansionist, belligerent, outspoken CCP (Tibet, Uigurs, Philippines) says “Taiwan is part of China” they are lying and they have no claim whatsoever.
