Queensland mining billionaire Clive Palmer is ramping up his war on the government of Western Australia. The Labor government is now probably terminal, having completely exhausted its goodwill from the secessionist-style Covid response, and there could be a backlash. In Western Australia there is a strong expectation of getting work and getting ahead and incumbent government(s) will not be well tolerated, regardless of where the fault may lie, for unaffordable housing, excessive immigration, the price of petrol and so forth. There will no doubt be very few speeding tickets served to Western Australian motorists before the next election, due around Easter 2025.

Clive Palmer has a number of issues with former Premier Mark McGowan which range from the personal to the material, substantially because in various ways he was locked out of his mining operation.

Western Australia it seems is basically a company town and they don’t need any extra competition from interstate. McGowan has gone on to work for Chris Ellison of MinRes, another mining interest, as well as his other jobs, and is reported to have amassed a fortune already. McGowan was formerly a lawyer for the Australian Navy.

Palmer is taking his case, now claiming $300 billion to the Hague, with former federal Attorney General Christian Porter, previously his lawyer, as a witness. Porter himself is an interesting case but in relation to Palmer the key point is that Porter was from the other side of WA politics, as the forces against Palmer, namely McGowan and WA state Attorney General Quigley, threw together some legislation to prevent Palmer coming after the state for redress. They got the full support of Kerry Stokes’ WA media empire, which savaged Palmer, stopping short only of calling him a terrorist.

The High Court case that precipitated this move to the Hague involved the use of something called the Investor-State Dispute Settlement (ISDS) clause. ISDS clauses were originally designed to compensate foreign investors from countries against having their assets appropriated by developing countries which had under-developed legal systems, as appears to be the case in Western Australia.

In a case of fortunate timing, Palmer moved ownership of his companies to Singapore in 2019, immediately before the Covid interruptions, which theoretically qualified him for use of this clause. 

Another complaint of Palmer’s relates to the constitutional provision for free travel between states, which Palmer was denied, on the basis of Emergency Regulations. Section 92 says the movement of people among the states shall be “absolutely free”.

Only lawyers could re-construe the constitutional meaning of absolutely free, into the opposite.

Clive Palmer’s company accused the Federal Government of attempting to hack the email accounts of lawyers who are working on his $300 billion lawsuit against the country. Several of his lawyers simultaneously received emails from software providers in relation to opening access for their files, which was interpreted as resulting from an attempt to breach security.

A major grievance of Palmer’s was his importation of 37 million doses of Hydroxychloroquine, which was seized by the Australian government and destroyed.

Clive Palmer has become a significant populist political leader in Australia with common sense policy positions such as the individual’s free choice to take or refuse medication, as they see fit. Australia’s medicines regulator, the Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA), has warned that the drug and its derivatives “pose well-known serious risks to patients, including cardiac toxicity potentially leading to sudden heart attacks, permanent eye damage and severely low blood sugar levels that can lead to coma”. The TGA has said it is considering legal action against Palmer.

Clive Palmer appears relentless and fearless, even pushing forward with his building of “Titanic II”, it seems no Globalist, no government, not even an ocean liner sized jinx can sway or torpedo him on his path.

Amusingly, Palmer has also invested heavily in beachfront real estate, pumping money as if by a fire hose to beat off the competition, none of whom seems to believe in the rising sea level stories.

In these ongoing European battles over land, the aboriginals have been swept away as if they were non-existent. What’s more, they go back four centuries. “There were also Millions of Flies, very much troubling Men. They saw a great many Footsteps of Men and Children, but all of an ordinary bigness. The Coast is very foul and full of Rocks”.

The name New Holland was still invoked as the name for the whole continent when Charles Fremantle on 9 May 1829 took formal possession in the name of King George IV of “all that part of New Holland which is not included within the territory of New South Wales.In 1832, the territory was officially renamed Western Australia.

    • Quigley ( WA ALP A-G ) wrote the forced injections legislation we currently have in WA. Even kids can be held down and force injected. This obviously has implications for sending them to school, especially if they are doing monkeypox injections that day. Quigley had a couple of cars burned in his garage a few years ago and he thought it was very funny. I don’t know if they caught the arsonist.

I agree with lots of green policies such as save the koala bears, save the porpoises, save all the old trees everywhere, save the miniscule frog, stop the plastic, stop the multinationals etc etc all good green policies trouble is the Green Party does not support / achieve anything in relation to this and instead tells lies about CO2 to scare children and tries to cover up the Great Injections Scam of 2021. This is absolutely bizarre behaviour and I am surprised any Greens Party voters would accept this.
    I also agree with Twiggy’s “green steel” thought bubbles where he wants to smelt steel from the iron ore rocks up in the Kimberley, using solar power, this would be a great economic leveller since China has to burn coal. He could also burn all the rubbish up north there instead of sending it to Asia.
    The best way to re-green the Greens Party would be to compost the whole lot of them including the Teals. Then we could have a real Greens Party instead of this fraud we have now. Looks like the CO2 fraud is living on borrowed time now and only the hard core greenwashed brains will still be banging on about it soon.
    A good way to save the environment would be to compost the packaging king, local billionaire Pratt. The amount of packaging he gets on everything is like another GST. Why doesn’t Pratt do the recycling, I bet he pretends to.
    Why is Twiggy’s green steel taking so long, I heard about it years ago and I had the idea myself long before that, unfortunately I lacked the finance or it would be done by now.

    • I note that at both assassination attempts an ‘assault rifle’ was used. First the AR-15 and then the AK-47 variant. That isn’t logical for a sniper. There are plenty of much better hunting rifles to use in such a situation. Rifles that can shoot much more accurately and reach out to much longer distances. – Call me paranoid, but when the government wants to ban ‘assault rifles’, it appears too convenient that the ‘lone gunman’ in both cases is using a shitty assault rifle.
