There are many conspiracy theories about wrongdoing by government. A typical one is “The CIA deliberately arranged for JFK’s motorcade to be in a place where he could get assassinated.” It remains only a theory — no member of the motorcade team ever swore in court, or on a TV news show, that they had been instructed to “let the assassination happen.”

Of course, there could be a general investigation in which eyewitnesses or expert witnesses tell whatever they know and a panel of judges draws a conclusion, for example, that “The CIA knowingly contributed on November 22, 1963, to the president’s motorcade being exposed.” Or, depending on the testimony received, the panel could deduce that “LBJ orchestrated the assassination.” Whatever.

In fact, there was an official “investigation,” known as the Warren Commission, but it is largely considered corrupt. By no means did the commissioners invite “anybody who saw something to come forward.” There was also a congressional committee’s investigation but hardly anyone knows of it.  It found that “Oswald probably did not act alone.”

By the way, in regard to JFK’s death, there has been a congressional order in force, for a long time, for the Executive Branch to release all the pertinent documents but this gets side-stepped. Many private scholars and journalists, however, went looking and the consensus among them is that Kennedy’s death was an Inside Job.

Occasionally, a conspiracy theory has a breakthrough.  The best kind would be a deathbed confession by a guilty party, but even a long-lost video or audio record of the event might do the trick.  I consider myself to have made a breakthrough in the 2013 Boston Marathon case, by uncovering a CNN video that shows the suspect being arrested, naked, at 1pm, in good health (no wounds from gunshot or being run over by a car), a half hour after he allegedly died in a gunfight with police.

But even a good breakthrough like that might not make any dent in the case. Once the government narrative, aided by the media, has entered the popular culture it is hard to erase. Those critics who find good evidence to counteract the narrative, are called nutjobs.

The January 6th Affair

Personally, I think the staging or scripting of events is commonplace, but the public is not likely to accept this view. After all, one instinctively wants government to be right. If our leaders are lying they are our enemy which is pretty frightening. Today I want to examine, briefly, the so-called Invasion of the Capitol building in Washington DC on January 6, 2021.

A few minutes ago I phoned a friend — “Betty” — who has no connections to conspiracy theory.  I began with “I promise not to quote you by name, but I quickly need your thoughts on the January 6th affair.  Do you recognize what I am referring to?”  She said “Oh yes, everybody knows about it.” I requested: “Please pretend a European person who never heard of the Jan 6 event asks you what it’s about. Just give the basics.”  I took notes, verbatim, of her sketch as follows:

“Protestors wanted Trump to stay in government. People were hired by Trump to make a scene. They wanted to breach the Capitol to prevent the counting of the vote, but I don’t think they actually got into the Congress’s room while the certifying was taking place.  Oh yes, I remember now, they did get in but later in the evening the certifying did take place. Several security guards were killed.  I am not sure if they were National, Guard no I don’t think they were.”

I then asked: “How did your neighbors talk about it the next day?” She replied: They all said they wished it would never happen again, a disturbance of the peace related to voting.” I asked “Was anyone arrested?”  Betty said “Yes quite a few were sent to jail.”

The Possible Breakthrough, by Tucker Carlson

Today, March 8, 2023, in New Hampshire, I watched a video by Tucker Carlson of Fox News. He claims to have videos that were recently obtained from officials — this is now two years after the event. The most startling three bits that he shows are:

1. the leader of the invasion, in costume, being “escorted” by two cops around some internal doors into the Senate chamber. 2. The same man passing a group of 8 cops without any of them trying to stop him. 3. The same man inside a room, maybe Senate room, offering a prayer of thanks that the police “let us in.”

(I interrupt to explain something about the Congress people’s location that day.  On January 6 of every inauguration year, the full Congress — 100 senators and 435 Representatives — are supposed to meet together in the House of Reps’ chamber for the counting of votes for president. But for the entire Covid period, the 535 persons observe social distancing. Only a portion of them sit in chamber; the rest watch the proceedings from their office rooms.)

Tucker Carlson is making big claims, in saying that the cops “escorted” the man — perhaps they were only tailing him to make sure he did not destroy property.  He appears to be unarmed. Carlson also makes the big claim that all national media were in on it, and that we now see that Democrats and Republicans are “married” (not his word). Carlson shows Mitch McConnell, the Republican senate minority leader supporting the government narrative. He also said, “I think it is wrong of Tucker Carlson to have presented this in variance to what the chief law enforcer told us.”

Then we see Senate majority leader Chuck Schumer condemning those who have released the new videos. Finally, Tucker opines that the person responsible for Jan 6 is Nancy Pelosi as Congress is in charge of Capitol police.

Although Fox News is mainstream media, indeed Rupert Murdoch is its boss, this does not mean that Democrats will see the Carlson report.  That’s because the Fox News channel caters to Republicans. Carlson himself speaks the Repub line on most subjects. Still, I wonder if my friend “Betty” from the telephone call happens to view it, will she consider this a breakthrough? Would she have any misgivings about the way the event was first portrayed? Would she puzzle over Mitch McConnell’s “crossing the floor”?

I am skeptical of Tucker Carlson and do not know what to make of the MSM flashing such pictures at us. I cannot contribute much else to this tale. As I said in previous articles, Trump did appear to incite the invasion. Yet I doubt that conservative Republicans were inclined to get violent, and also it seemed obvious to me that the cops initially welcomed the protestors at the door.

By the way, I asked Betty if she knew anything about the Liz Cheney/Adam Schiff committee. No, she had not heard of that. And let me acknowledge that Betty is only one person, I can’t magnify her answers to be that of everyone.

The committee procedure was outrageous, shades of the 911 Commission. I think that one thing that will come of it is the ouster of McConnell and Schumer.  Their speeches were truly embarrassing. One of Mitch’s arrogant remarks to the press: “You know some of my bad habits, but one of them is NOT answering questions that I don’t want to answer.”

So much for accountability! And goodbye Nancy, Farewell Adam.

The Long Run

I assume that the Capitol invasion was invented by the Powers That Be in order to take attention off the counting of the ballots that day, and more importantly, to create in the public’s mind the idea that protest is sinful and “unfair to America.” Oh dear.

At least now some legal-minded observers will be able to sort through the arrests of the sinners — I mean non-sinners — and make a shout about the way prisoners were put in solitary for six months and were then encouraged to take a guilty plea.

The decades-old destroying of the law may actually get its day in court.  Yay!

    What it looked like to me is that the cops had been instructed to not ‘arrest’ people. This could either have come from the top (Pelosi) or was an obvious action by the officer in charge to give an order to placate actions. There was no way that the small number of cops could EVER control thousands of people. Their seemingly polite escorting of the painted face man demonstrates that he equally appreciated their actions by thanking them in a prayer.

    To me it’s clear that Trump had no idea that an “invasion” was about to take place. He wanted his supporters to gather in the designated space as a visual sign to those inside.

    It seems to me that the Dems desperately needed a disruption to dissuade any re-evaluation of the voting. Pelosi is seasoned enough to know it was fraud. All that was need was a handful of “instigators” in the crowd to make the charge. They know how the brain works… in crowds of such size it is as easy as pie to manipulate the HERD. The sound of one window breaking… can spike the adrenalin and excite the crowd into moving forward.

And good on him to do that – since we know the deep state are desperate (1) to not reveal those footages and (2) are desperate to hide the corrupt voting.

His (numerous) original speeches … about draining the swamp ETC., could be deemed more provocative. Anyone with a brain knew the election was frauded … and to give a speech (can’t remember the exact wording) saying we are going to march to the Capital and let your voices be heard – is nothing different to anything he said for the 6 years before that.

    But I think Trump understands the game – one step to far – and its “lights out”. (G5 said there were multiple assassination attempts) But maybe Trump is also playing his part in “Divide and Conquer” –

    Kevin D. Greeson died of a heart attack, collapsing on the sidewalk west of the Capitol on Jan. 6.

    Rosanne Boyland appeared to have been crushed in a stampede of fellow rioters as they surged against the police.

    Benjamin Philips, the founder of a pro-Trump website called Trumparoo, died of a stroke.

    Mr. Greeson and Mr. Philips died of natural causes, the Washington medical examiner said in April. He added that Ms. Boyland’s death was caused by an accidental overdose.

    Tucker most likely is the embodiment of controlled opposition, how could he not be. I dislike his voice lilt, much like that of Brian Stelter (hypnotic rhythm).

      If you are so concerned to defend ‘your clients’ and prove their innocence, have you ever thought of accomplishing that by proving who REALLY DID IT?
      Surely that is basic for any investigator or competent criminal lawyer.
      Try it and present the evidence available to at least present to a jury some reasonable doubt for your ‘clients’.

          as with all such episodes, there are many stories about. many much more deserving of your – in my unqualified opinion – harsh words directed at Mary. You also could offer 5000 words explaing what actually did happen, to clear things up.

          Ive not known many that write anywhere near as much as Mary, and I always appreciate her perspective, even if I dont always agree.

    Well appearances can be very misleading. When someone is canny in one area it doesn’t make them the full bottle on everything, in fact rather the reverse. I really don’t think he had a clue about the gist of the storming or how it would pan out. Having talent/ability in one area doesn’t make one the full bottle on everything, in fact rather the reverse.

    And there’s nothing like wealth to put a wedge between one and the real world. Just look at the massive blunders that Solomon made ( and I’ve no doubt he was the greatest statesman who ever lived)

  15. Sadly, on April 13, there will be a “trial” about the stolen election. Namely Dominion will sue Fox News for saying the election was stolen. Major public rallies continue in Israel as citizens protest the power-grab of the Bibi government, who presumably has an eye on the Brunson case and wants to make sure nothing like that happens to him. They make more and more laws, sneaky laws which can’t be understood until some years later when they are presented in context, like the force-injection laws in Western Australia, introduced by the Barnett government about 6 or 7 years ago. So the Bibi government wants to curb the powers of the Israel Supreme Court so he can veto their decisions, or similar.
