Editor’s note: The Member for Bennelong, New South Wales, John Alexander had a wonderful and celebrated career as a tennis player from the 1960s to mid-1980s, winning seven singles titles and 27 doubles titles. Then he went into politics and is the Chair of the Standing Committee on Infrastructure, Transport and Cities for the Liberal Party (in Australia).
One of Gumshoe’s readers wrote an email to the Member for Bennelong asking for clarification about ScoMo’s Religious Discrimination Bill. Daniel, from his office, then sent the author of the letters a detailed response about the Bill. The letter below was the reply to Daniel, requesting that he bring the letter to Mr Alexander’s attention –that is the first LETTER (asking for protection for more than just religious discrimination…)
John Alexander MP’s email, announcing his retirement, came two days after that email. (Quickest response ever!) The author found para 3 particularly weird: “Out of respect to you, I have decided to let you know directly, before I inform the news media.”
We have no idea if this was a generic letter. But the timing is pretty strange…
LETTER
Hi Daniel,
Thank you for your detailed response to my request. It is pleasing to hear that the Government is working to protect our freedoms to some degree.
I note your comment that the Religious Discrimination Bill will ensure protection “in the same manner as other existing attributes covered by anti-discrimination law”.
I request that you bring this letter to the attention of Mr Alexander:
It is extremely concerning that, whilst the government works to protect our religious freedoms, our Health and Medical freedoms are being utterly eroded despite their proffered protection under Human Rights, even under the Nuremberg Code. The vaccines remain listed as “provisionally approved”, which indicates they are still being trialed. People have the right to choose.
It is becoming glaringly obvious that we are in dire need of anti-discrimination protection regarding the Covid-19 vaccinations. The two-tiered society being created by governments at all levels through the restrictions being imposed on those who choose to wait until the vaccinations are fully proven as “safe and effective” – which appears not likely – is flagrant discrimination and shocking to behold, and as far from democracy as you could get.
Furthermore, the withholding – even banning! – of treatments that have shown great success against the coronavirus overseas, such as Ivermectin and HCQ, is highly questionable, if not criminal.
The rising numbers of adverse reactions and deaths post-vaccination are being denied and suppressed by the media and authorities, but word is spreading rapidly on social media platforms.
Our Constitution provides protection against civil conscription (medical), whether the government seeks to achieve such by direct or indirect means. What are our elected representatives doing on our behalf?
There are legal challenges mounting in regards to the governments’ handling of the ‘pandemic’ and the various restrictions they have adopted. These may seem relatively minor for those who have lost jobs or business, or those who have been denied education or entertainment. However, they will reach a whole new level if:
- citizens are injured or killed by a vaccine that has been forced upon them OR
- citizens die or suffer more serious consequences when they are denied medical treatment because they are discriminated against based on their vaccination status.
Since the vaccine manufacturers are immune from liability, I wonder who will be held accountable.
I implore Mr Alexander to speak up for his constituents and defend our Health and Medical freedom of choice. This medical tyranny must be stopped immediately. There will be no seat for Members of Parliament who neglect or betray their people.

I came to Parliament on the advice of John Howard. He was looking to see more people with vision, and diverse backgrounds, in Parliament, especially in his old seat. Winning back Bennelong wasn’t easy. But we got there through hard work and perseverance. Doorknocking over 10,000 homes in the process, I committed to listen, listen and listen again. This remained my mantra every day, which may have contributed to a majority of people supporting me through five elections since 2010.
Bennelong is a wonderful community and I have loved serving it every day. I have always sought to identify local problems and find solutions in Canberra, which is why I have been so vocal on issues like settlement planning and housing affordability.
I’m proud to have represented local issues vociferously, particularly my support of multiculturalism, recognition of the Armenian genocide, and support for our innovative businesses especially from Macquarie University and Macquarie Park.
I’m also exceptionally proud of all the initiatives I’ve started, from providing table tennis tables to our schools to get kids breaking down cultural barriers by playing sport together; to our small business campaign born out of the ashes of the GFC, the ‘Bennelong Village Business’ initiative; and our push to get schools connecting with our high tech companies in Macquarie Park through the highly successful Bennelong Schools’ STEM Challenge.
