Interview with Niels Harrit

[Editor’s Note: This is a partial transcript of an interview given by Niels Harrit on 9/11 Freefall and republished from 911Tap.org here (with their permission). It was transcribed and lightly edited for clarity by Wayne Coste, PE, but then I have reordered the interview , starting with the last question (plus a few edits). The interview was two months ago.] 

Importance of Educating the Public

Andy Steele: I think, for a lot of people, 9/11 truth started the distrust … Our last question to you today is: We are 10 years out from when you wrote that paper, and here we are in 2019.  As a leader in the truth movement, what do you think we should be doing to educate the public and keep us on that track?

Niels Harrit:In terms of documentation, in terms of exposing the narrative, we have won… There’s nothing left from an academic point of view to prove. So what is going on now: Architects and Engineers is doing a lawsuit that is absolutely perfectly fitting and I think the report by Leroy Hulsey will probably also add some momentum.

It’s more important now to inform people about the basics that the official narrative is wrong and – also please notice one thing – I don’t know what it is like in America, but around here the concept of False Flag is now common language. This was not the situation to just 2 years ago or 3 years ago. That’s a big thing. Everybody now knows what a false flag is. Also because of Syria.  They didn’t know it three years ago.

I don’t know what it is like in America, but here they’re waiting for the pulling a false flag on Iran  – they would probably shoot down some airliner. But they can’t do it in anymore. Everybody would cry out and say false flag. Could you imagine that the false flag could be something nuclear – but Iran does not have been nuclear weapons, and neither does Venezuela. So what can they come up with next?

Andy: …So now we’ve done our job in that respect. We’ll keep doing our job until we have the final victory, which is full acknowledgment of what happened on 9/11 so that everybody knows, and the children learn the truth from the history books. That day will come.

Niels: It’s going to be in my lifetime and I’m an old man.

Talking About Niels Harrit’s Paper

[The start of the interview.]

Andy: We’re talking about the paper you (Niels Harrit) co-authored about the red-gray chips found in the World Trade Center dust. Pretending that you’re talking to somebody who has only the most basic chemistry education and you’ve only got a few minutes to do it, what are the findings of the paper – what is the “meat and potatoes” of what you presented in those pages?

Niels: Well, you can’t do that in three minutes. When I’m doing a presentation it usually takes two hours to bring a completely uninitiated person, with no knowledge of chemistry, to the point of having an understanding of the coherent collapse scenario of the World Trade Center. Richard Gage (Architects and Engineers for 9/11 Truth) probably takes the same amount of time.

At the time the paper was published, we did not know where the nano thermite might fit into that collapse scenario. It wasn’t until 2011 I really got the point.

The Thermite Reaction

Thermite is an old invention.

The chemical reaction was published for the first time in 1893 by a German chemist named Hans Goldschmidt, who discovered that when you mix aluminum powder and pulverized rust (let us call it that) you can make them react – and the reaction is extremely violent and can reach temperatures of 2,500 degrees centigrade (4,500 degrees F). It’s about 1000 degrees centigrade beyond the melting point of iron and steel – and it produces molten iron in the process – at extreme high temperature. It’s very useful reaction because it produces molten iron so that it could be used for welding. It was patented for this application by 1898.

But it can also be used for destruction.

Nanotechnology

I said that the old time thermite, the Hans Goldschmidt thermite, is made by mixing the ingredients pulverized aluminum and pulverized rust as two powders. Then nano-technology came along in the 1980’s (late eighty’s; early ninety’s) which is a completely different way of making materials. You do not make things from the top down – you make the materials from the bottom up. You trick the chemistry to make the materials “atom-by-atom” or “molecule-by-molecule.”

Energy

…But you still have the energy. Now I have to talk about energy because the thermite reaction has lots of energy, but it’s very slow compared with explosives. Many people think that explosives are very energetic, but they are not. Rather, they are extremely fast.

“Tuning” Thermitic Materials

Nanotechnology puts you in a position where you can “tune” the material, which we now call energetic materials. You can tune it on a scale from incendiary to explosive – and in between you have something like rocket fuel… So this is the situation in the 1990’s when the military discovered this opportunity for using the energy in the thermite reaction to do work. You can make explosives from the thermite reaction, and you can make rocket fuel. You can “tune” the thing.

Nano thermite: Explosive or Highly Energetic

Many people have called the nano thermite we found called it militarily grade explosive. I disagree.

We don’t know that it was a military grade explosive. and I don’t believe it was.

An independent researcher, Mark Basile, made a recording of a reacting nano chip on the microscope. You can see how it swells – how a gas is being evolved but it’s not explosive. It’s more like a rocket fuel.

Thermate

So for a long time I couldn’t make things fit together. Another independent discovery was the sulfidation of the steel which did not fit into the nano thermite either. We could not account for that.  There was no sulfur in the nano thermite chips we investigated. But as you know, you can add sulfur to the thermite reaction and get thermate which is very well fitted for cutting through steel beams.

And also you had the discovery of the iron spheres in the dust. Huge quantities.

Propellant Does “Work” (Force times Distance)

You could watch on television how the steel beams and the girders were being hurled out from the Twin Towers, so “work” (in physics, work is defined as applied force multiplied by distance) was being done. Explosives can do work, they can move things around.

It wasn’t until David Chandler did his video called “Smoking Gun” about the South Tower collapsing, where he took a close look at the fragments being thrown out from the Twin Towers, and then suddenly everything fell into place.

Because when you have the thermite reaction, I said you form elemental iron, but you also form aluminum oxide, and that appears white when suspended in air. If you ignite a thermite reaction on the floor in the laboratory you see a little white cloud over the reaction. It is aluminum oxide, and it is white.

And Chandler, brilliantly, took a closer look at the fragments coming out of the South Tower. He noted that there were fragments that were accelerating faster than freefall. And there were fragments which changed trajectory – suddenly – where they were making a 90 degree turn and they were wiggling. They were not falling, actually.

Coherent Collapse Scenario

So a coherent collapse scenario for World Trade Center requires three energetic materials. Explosives are being used, obviously. We don’t know the chemical composition of these explosives – they could be conventional, what we call molecular explosives, or they could be thermitic. We don’t know that.

Also you see steel beams being cut and this is being done by thermate, and Jonathan Barnet’s work has proven unambiguously that thermite was used cut the steel beams.

The third energetic material, this is what I believe – it is a hypothesis, but it fits nicely – is that the nano thermite served for blowing the steel beams and the girders out of the Twin Towers.  This is because every fragment that you’re seeing thrown out from the Twin Towers draws after it a completely homogenous white smoke trail.

Now what is that? Is that concrete? No! You know if you if you throw out a piece of concrete through a window, it would not trace a white smoke trail. Is it wallboard? No!

There’s a chemical reaction going on – the smoke is white. My claim was that this is aluminum oxide – and I presented that at the Toronto hearings in 2011. I took a chance, I must admit that I held my breath and I took a chance. But then David Chandler went back to home and actually traced some of the fragments and discovered that they are moving faster than freefall. One of the fragments coming out of the South Tower is accelerating to the ground at 11 meters per second squared. This is faster than freefall, and this is only possible if there is a driving force of thrust adding to gravity.

I’m showing Chandler’s videos of the North Tower and the South Tower in my presentation – I’ve seen it probably a 1000 times and I’m still in awe by the scenario, because once you’ve seen it is so obvious what is happening. You know the canopy of debris / the mushroom cloud – it’s white.  Think about it the next time you see it.  It’s completely ridiculous. What I mean by ridiculous is that this is the scenario that has been watched by billions of people, billions of times, all over the world again and again and again. And nobody sees what they see, which is the key obstacle to actually seeing what you see.

Rockets at the World Trade Center:  Some of the debris from the South Tower at the World Trade Center shot downward faster than gravity. This is literal, visible proof of explosive materials painted onto perimeter wall units.

South Tower: Exploding Projectile: A close-up view of debris being ejected from the South Tower of the World Trade Center as the 30-floor top section falls to the east. It shows numerous smoking projectiles that look like comets. Several of them can be seen to explode. One such exploding projectile is followed here. It ejects two fragments, both of which undergo secondary explosions. (Note, the rising fragment to the left of the projectile under consideration appears to be a tumbling object that alternates from black to white to invisible. It passes behind one of the fragments described in the video.)

South Tower Smoking Guns: This video narrates a collection of diverse phenomena in the debris cloud of the South Tower that point to explosive demolition. Particularly notable is one projectile (which I have not seen discussed previously) that is shooting to the east, then stops midair, then turns a sharp corner and shoots straight down trailing white smoke. White smoke is characteristic of aluminum oxide which is a byproduct of the thermite reaction.

South Tower Smoking Guns (Follow-up): After finding the projectile that turns a sharp corner while trailing white smoke, I looked for it in other videos and found it in several. The clearest is from a camera with a very similar perspective to the first, but in this video the trail can be followed to the bottom of the collapse. Here I explore the significance of this find.

North Tower Exploding: This is a narration of a video clip of the North Tower of the World Trade Center which focuses on explosive ejections progressing in waves down the faces of the building under the canopy of falling debris. Observation is the foundation of science.

  1. I had forgotten about this video I had put together FOUR years ago. It provides a classic visual demonstration of explosion (towards the end).

    • A MSM program emerged explaining the collapse via an animation, but the animation never showed the projection of the debri. (I refer to that as deceptive)

      So I found a video of the collapse, then superimposed the start of the “collapse” alongside mid-destruction. This demonstrates with such clarity the sideways explosive force the EXPLOSIONS from the building. It is projecting huge pieces of the building hundreds of feet laterally.

      • OK, Dee, now I get it that the lateral explosion can be seen, but why are we to think that the video you “found” of that, is any more honest than the “deceptive” one.

        Also I don’t see animation. It looks like two real videos. Also, and maybe I am the only one not getting it, I don’t know what those two glass-like impositions are.

  3. It’s hard to believe a plane could cause that much damage. It never made sense to me, and I’m not a demolitions expert, or a scientist. The bright white flashes, which look like sparklers on a grand scale amongst the clouds of Ash and debris, are indicative of explosive reactions. What normal elements of a buildings structure could possibly create such bright light flashes? There’s nothing that I could think of.

  4. I’m on a bit of a tangent here, but I could not view the video because public libraries employ security which censors what we read or watch.

    This is an extension of the conversion of public libraries from places where people can read for education or recreation, to unsupervised child-minding centres wherein kids run riot, scream and shout, and turbotrap airhead mums catch up on prosaic gossip.

    How did this happen?

    The internet and other components of the electronic revolution meant that less people visited libraries. Librarians, bureaucrats, and politicians conjoined their giant intellects and opted for the plaground scenarion.

    What should have happened is that libraries also became institutions for media education, with training in social media usage, and also tuition on creating and manageing websites.

    What we got instead is another weapon for the dumbing down of Australians. The ABC and Murdoch complete the armory.

There was more at work here than just thermite/nanothermite.The “dustification” of the towers(metal spires, not just cut,but seen to be disappearing into “dust”)and the obvious lack of debris piles from 100 plus storey buildings indicate a process of molecular destruction(steel,concrete and building contents-only one filing cabinet found and NO bathroom fixtures).Nikola Tesla and in recent times John Hutchison have displayed this effect.The buildings not only collapsed freefall into their own footprints but the altered debris barely registered any seismic response( in order to prevent damage to the “bathtub” in which they stood which if destroyed would have resulted in the flooding of lower Manhattan).Dr Judy Wood(Where did the towers go?)postulated the use of DEW technology which is further supported by what she calls “toasted” cars some found kms away.An aerial view of the WTC site shows destruction of not only WTC 1,2 and 7 but damage to most structures within the WTC block and very little damage to adjoining buildings merely a street away.

  9. As a non scientist I am forever grateful to people like Niels Harrit for exposing the reality behind the fairy tales the mainstream media forever thrust upon us. My awakening on the JFK assassination came with the revelation that the fatal shot came from the front. Ditto with his brother 5 years later with the fatal shot being from a few centimetres away thereby ruling out the patsy Sirhan.
    Thus it has been for me ever since.
    What is also really revealing is the the msm continue to promote the fairy tales for decades afterward despite the literal impossibly of their version. That they never resile from their lies in the face of overwhelming evidence, such as that produced by Harrit and his fellow scientists, is also very instructive.

    I’m really surprised that the Kiwis have not had a counter-intelligence movement or action. Australia has already surrendered as they did nothing after the Sydney Hilton bombing and they did nothing after the Port Arthur Massacre. By signing the Communist UN treaty also substantiates and verifies the docile and subservient actions of Australia under a foreign power.

  19. Niels Harrit is a scientist. His findings are well documented and proven. He does not engage in conjecture. Whereas claiming that Dov Zakheim was responsible for 9/11 is not only conjecture, but lacks even the minimal circumstancial evidence. He was certainly part of the neocon clique that strove to capitalize on the U.S. hegemony, but he was not the only member of that clique. Focussing on this particular man means to downplay the role played by the ruling political elite which covered up the mass murder, as well as the interests of the American ruling oligarchy in this crime. He was hired to the Pentagon by the Secretary of Defense, Donald Rumsfeld just a few months before 9/11. On 10 September 2001 Rumfseld declared that over 2 trillion dollars of Pentagon money was unaccounted for. By this declaration Rumsfeld insinuated the Dov Zakheim (who was hired as a Pentagon Comptroller) was somehow involved in this scam. Was he hired for that purporse? While we do not know the role he played in US politics, we should be cautious in naming names without having solid evidence.
