Once upon a time there was an emperor who loved to wear beautiful, shiny garments to win the admiration of his subjects. Two mischievous tailors decided to have a joke on him. They told the emperor they could make a robe out of very thin material. It would have a special characteristic: anyone who was stupid could not see the fabric at all.
The emperor was thrilled and set the tailors to work. After a while, he sent his trusted aide to check on their progress. The aide saw two tailors working over a table, making the gestures of cutting and sewing, but he couldn’t actually see any fabric. He didn’t dare admit this for fear of losing his job.
Finally, the new gown was ready. The emperor himself thought it was invisible — but he couldn’t allow himself to be categorized as stupid. He praised “the beautiful colors of the cloth” and paid the tailors a good fee.
When he paraded down the street the next Sunday, people bowed and applauded as usual. Each was nervous but could not really accept the reality of what they saw. Most of them thought “If the others don’t see it I must be wrong.” A few thought “We could never, never offend our emperor by smirking.”
After a while, a little boy said “Mommy, look at that.”
All fell silent. You could hear a pin drop. People were scared; they glanced anxiously at the bold child. He said “Mommy, look up, those are chemtrails in the sky. I saw them on the Internet.”
Everyone was very relieved. They, who until now had utterly refused to contemplate the criss-crossed sky, were suddenly very interested. Talking about chemtrails became a good thing to do. Eventually the townsfolk became quite knowledgeable on this subject.
No one ever thought about that “other problem” again. The emperor and his subjects continued to love one another. All were satisfied and they looked forward to a happy future.

Looking at some photos thanks to worldtruth.tv, there may well be explanations for some e.g. clean up mission for oil spills. Perhaps a hoax, another seems to show a label on the cockpit control panel “DEFER CHEMTRAIL NO: 3601009 M42-S” – since there are no such things as ‘chemtrails’ 😊
A plethora of websites ‘explain contrails’ (certainly NOT referred to as ‘chemtrails’, heaven forbid). In answer to my googled question, “Do propeller planes leave contrails?” I found this concise explanation: “Contrails originate from condensation of vapor coming from internal combustion engines, regardless of being a turboprop, turbojet/turbofan or cylinder engine. Vapor is a by-product of the hydrocarbon (fuel) being combusted with the atmospheric oxygen.”
Other ‘reasonable’ explanations: “Some contrails form due to lower pressure areas at certain angles/speeds of flight. Wingtip contrails & propeller contrails are good examples.”
“Propeller contrails are only short, because no water gets added in them, so they evaporate again as the vortex slows.”
The site http://www.airservicesaustralia.com/aircraftnoise/aircraft-operations/9518-2/ explains “Why and how long does a contrail last?” and “Why contrails may become more prevalent”
So, these ‘contrails’ we are seeing today are innocuous??
Curiously, a photo of P-47 Thunderbolts over Emden on Sept 27, 1943, show very persistent trails that do appear to ‘follow’ the propeller engines. (Whether these are indeed ‘harmless’, considering they were English (enemy) planes, is another question!)
But this photo has confused me. Can anyone explain? The ‘trails’ are not in line with the propellers OR the wingtips. Nor does it look like it would be an effective clean up mission.
