Debri of the FlyDubai plane
By Dee McLachlan
Sadly, a few hours ago, 62 people on board a plane flying from Dubai were killed when the plane was trying to land in the city of Rostov-on-Don — about 600 miles south of Moscow. The Boeing 737-800, operated by budget carrier FlyDubai, was making its second attempt to land in high wind and poor visibility when it missed the runway. It erupted in a huge fireball as it crashed and debris was scattered over a wide area.
Let us look back at other aerial disasters.
The Challenger exploding in flight on January 28, 1986
It’s been 30 years since the space shuttle Challenger exploded. And August last year was the first time a collection of artifacts and debris was exhibited for the public at the Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex.
The shuttle broke apart 73 seconds into its flight over the Atlantic Ocean, killing the seven crew members. It was flying at about 17,000 mph (Mach 25) when it exploded. The debris was collected from the ocean, and was kept under NASA’S lock and key for nearly 30 years.
On display is a 12-foot section of the Challenger’s fuselage, with the American flag.
The window section of the Challenger’s cockpit.
This is what remained of MH17 when it crashed over the Ukraine.
And now…
This is the site (below) where “United Airlines Flight 93” crashed on September 11, 2001, at Shanksville. Please take note of the huge debris field and plane parts.

And take note (below) of the many plane parts from “American Airlines Flight 77” that flew into the Pentagon on September 11, 2001.

The mainstream media dares not to compare these events.
Have we forgotten Germanwings that crashed because the pilot was depressed?
I still wonder who was on that plane that needed killin’
Paul, I recently received, but have not yet opened, a book called “Dorothy” about a crash in Chicago that killed many people just to silence one passenger (wife of E Howard Hunt). I recall that dear old Sherman Skolnick actually sped out to the airport and sleuthed that crash in real time (in the Nixon era).
I suppose no amount of handing in your drink cans to TSA, or answering questions about Who packed your bag, would have much effect on your safety if there’s a High Value person aboard.
The insignificance of we little people was well illustrated with the story of the citizens of Tokyo trying to put out napalm fires using the old bucket brigade method.
I don’t agree. We’re not insignificant. Not at all. Please give us a link re that story. I am threatening to get out the poem about Peter and the dike. Were you taught that as a child, Paul? I’ll bet they don’t teach it any more.
Threat made good:

No link, just a reference in an old WW2 book. Its a bit like “duck and cover” became some years later.
That’s beautiful Mary. I did read it.
Well, Paul, your enthusiasm made me go looking for Wordsworth’s “Ode To Duty”. I was surprised by this verse which I had never noticed:
Serene will be our days and bright,
And happy will our nature be,
When love is an unerring light,
And joy its own security.
And they a blissful course may hold
Even now, who, not unwisely bold,
Live in the spirit of this creed;
Yet seek thy firm support, according to their need
Well, son of a gun.
In the pictures I’ve seen of the crash site, I am bewildered by the fact that the fragments are relatively small, and strewn over such a wide area, after a wing tip hit the ground, on landing? wtf?
I noted the same thing Davo. Where is the bulk of the plane? We await more pictures.
It fell the last 3,000 ft in 15 seconds. I saw a video and it looked like it may have been on fire prior to impact. The angle of impact was about 45 degrees.
This was not a crash on landing, it fell out of the sky.
Thanks Terry.
We can only wonder what happened?
Some pilot forum suggests the “fire” are the landing lights being exagerated by the night camera.
The plane was in a mid-air holding pattern for about two hours and the “crash” occurred more than two hours after the plane, flight number FZ981, was scheduled to land.
Yeah, it may have been landing lights, I didn’t know what angle the video was taken from.
The flight recorders should tell the story.
A report circulating in the Kremlin states there was a high level CIA officer on board as well as millions in cash! If this is true, don’t expect to hear much more about it.
Where did the cash go?
God almighty. Just look at the first minute of this crash.
