“Harvard, Do You Hear Us?” The Future is Open!

A most wonderful person has appeared on the landscape. She is a newly graduated Harvardian who majored in the History of Science. As one of the commencement speakers last week, she captured the plight of her cohort.

I was very struck by her saying that her class spent all four years under Covid — 2020 to 2024.  In fact, recall the law student who sued Harvard in 2020 because the lockdown prevented him from attending classes?

Wait till you see her speech below. I’ll mention the Palestine aspect first, so we can set it aside — as she had so much more to cover. It seems that 16 of the would-be Grads did not get their degree, as they were being punished for participating in protests a while back. Ms Struthi Kumar (yes, she’s Hindu, born in Nebraska!) paused to honor them.

She complained that thousands of students — and FACULTY — has signed a petition for freedom of speech. It went unanswered by “Harvard” — whoever Harvard is!  This is the item that is being covered by The Guardian and several other mainstream outlets. It’s why Ms Kumar stood there and said, using appropriate body language, “Harvard, do you hear us? Harvard, do you hear us?”

It seems she was off script at that moment. The rest of her talk had been vetted in advance, of course. (Hell, we can’t have a Commencement speaker saying “For God’s sake, will you thick Bostonians arrange some bail for Jahar Tsarnaev after eleven years?”)  The off-script bit was not really pro-Palestinian. It was clearly pro-Free Speech. Should hardly be needed in Academe.

Are we done with that now? Fine, let’s move to Struthi’s “original” speech. It was about Not Knowing. She thanked her professor of history-of-science for teaching her that science isn’t so much about knowing (from Latin scientia, from scire, to know). It’s more about not-knowing.

An aside: Note how our enemies in the Covid scam — mainly, the media — like to say that such-and-such a thing is “settled science.” I suppose it’s settled science that water boils at 100 Centigrade, but that’s about all.  Come to think of it, even that boiling point is probably open to debate.

Ms Kumar, Harvard ’24, is delighted that it’s valid for her to live in a world of Mostly-Not-Known, as this means she can make important discoveries. She can change the world. She can maybe get rid of starvation — Heck, there’s an idea!  Not an idea we’d ever consider in our old, closed-knowledge world, though.

I want to shout that I am thrilled with her approach. I shall send her a copy of Philip Allott’s Eutopia. Yes, Allott is an octogenarian, but he thinks like Struthi. “The future is open, open, open, and is entirely within the human will to create it. (“Do it, Guys, Hurry!”)

On top of that, Struthi gave her presentation with incredible self-confidence — and yet no touch of arrogance or superiority. I then went to find her website and Holy Cow, is she ever the champion of yoga!  I mean literally she has won championships.

Can you do these movements? CAN ANY HUMAN DO THIS? I’d like to think that the bit between 2.42 minutes and 3.01 minutes has been photoshopped:

Something else in her Commencement speech struck me. She said that, owing what was going on historically during the years 2020 to 2024, her cohort lived with constant uncertainty. Do you recall my saying that a recent Harvard Law seminar surprised me by what seemed a state of student depression? Ms Kumar says her group thrived on solidarity!

I must add here that, as far as I know, these young’uns are not into conspiracy theory. During 2020, I was a candidate” for the US presidency (only in the New Hampshire Republican Primary). I was asked to address a group of Louisiana students who came up to NH specifically to learn about campaigning.  I rolled out my best Conspiracy Theories for them, thinking I would get enthusiastic support.  All’s I got were blank stares.

  1. As I have mentioned, my dad was in the Class of ’22. Maybe he got “affirmative action” points — as the Irish, circa 1920, were considered Boston’s dregs.

    I assume Dad did not have even one classmate from India. But the recent Harvard intake was mandated to be 51% non-white (which a court has since disapproved). If this chick, Struthi Kumar, is any guide, I think it was a helpful mandate.

    Next year the intake could be “dissidents only.” What’s wrong with that? Sounds very constitutional to me. Everybody is forgetting that the US Constitution is Dissident City.

  3. Wow, here is another young person — an American veteran of our (both US and Australia) invasion of Iraqi in 2003. He arrived there in 2004 and was immeditely paralyzed. Accuses Bush and Cheney of the murder of thousands of his fellow soldiers.

          Christensen is off with the fairies – and your own support of him places you fairly and squarely into his camp. What he supposes to ‘expose’ has already been dealt with, and that you in your microscopic view of this world, fail to see you are simply backing another Don Quixote.

  5. All the institutions that has controlled us all for such a long time has got to collapse. If we are to venture into the New Earth and a more enlightening way of doing things for the betterment of Humanity, than nothing from the Old World system of control will be permitted to survive.

    No one can fix what has so obviously become beyond salvation, and for a very long time. Everything that has exercised some form of control over We the People, and that we are currently moving away from, has got to come down – everything.

    I rely on the reality of the land so called Palestine where our troops DIED.
    As for matters that the msm does not report start with the fact that terrorists murdered British soldiers in the King Charles hotel ……. Right through past the USS Liberty in June 1967 ; still lied about. (I communicated with a crewman on the USS Liberty pre 2014) to the celebrating Israelis on 911.
    Do really expect me to care about the Middle East hateful cesspool on either side.
    Hate produces its own reward and you can promote and have it.
    Just read sections of the lessons/instructions/attitudes/teachers
    So we are moo cows!

      Yeah, the territory that was named Palestine by the Roman occupiers in 70 A.D. after they defeated a Jewish revolt, the territory that had previously been called Judea, the territory that was then incorporated into the Ottoman empire in 1516AD, the territory that remained under Ottoman(Turkish) control until the Brits took over in 1917

      • I recall being amazed one day years ago in Marin Place station walking closely behind two 12-14 year old exclaiming loudly that they were superior as they approached the escalator.
        Both had that dangling white rope from their trousers that they think must be of an impressive STATUS.
