Mozzies — Get Outta Here! (Maxwell’s Testimony in Honolulu)

Ms Tina Lia, the host of “Hawaii Unites.og,” informed me of a hearing at which the public could give testimony regarding the mosquito release, so I attended. I think they accept any comments as “testimony.” The meeting, on May 10, 2024, was run by the Board of Land and Natural Resources, starting at 10am.

There were many agenda items, mostly about land. However, there was an agenda item about the scheduled release of millions of mozzies on the island of Maui. I assumed there would be a crowd of protestors, but I was the only one.  I was allowed to speak for two minutes and then Ms Lia and one other person, Travis, came in by zoom to say more (for two minutes each).

For the record, I am printing below exactly what I said. I scribbled it on an envelope before my turn was called, so I am sure it is accurate, except I am not sure at what point the Chairwoman cut me off. It may have been after the word “responsibility.” I am pretty sure that I did not get to read the sentence about the Lahaina fire. (The cutoff was because I reached my 2 minutes.)

Note: It is the incredible use of Directed Energy Weapons on Maui on August 8, 2023, that has got me involved.  (At least a hundred people were killed and 2400 homes destroyed.) Subsequent to the fire I heard of two more assaults on Hawaii so I also participated in the protestations, just because — well, just because.

Those two were: the decision to use fragile land at Oluwalu for the dumping of the toxic waste from the fire, and the decision to save a particular bird species by releasing bacteria-infected mosquitos into the air.  Both of those things went ahead. The toxic dumping is occurring, and the mozzies have been released, not only on Maui but on the island of Kaua’i.

Goes to show that there is no such thing as People Power anymore.  Nor such a thing as reasonableness.  All gone with the wind.

Note: On another occasion I gave in-person testimony to the Maui Council. My subject was The Seventh Amendment. I hope to provide the wording of that talk in a later article. On that day I was greeted by Police Chief Peltier who said with a hearty smile “Hi, how are you?”

Here is what I said at the May 10, 2024 meeting in Honolulu (where, also, the staff was cordial to me):

“My name is Mary Maxwell. I am thrilled at the chance to put my thoughts on record.

I hate mosquitos, especially when they wake you up at night. [Mary makes little whiny noise].

In general, I am critical of gene modification. I think God does a better job than, say, Bill Gates, on balancing Nature’s forces.

Today in our society — or perhaps worldwide — we are plunging headlong into radical changes for humanity, such as such as to ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE AND GEOENGINEERING OF THE WEATHER.

I object to the plunging headlong. Please note that humans have an instinct to go along with a new trend. Just like in fashion, we say “We’re doing this now.”  This is not a good instinct today!

ASK: WHO MAKES THESE DECISIONS ABOUT NEW TECHNOLOGY?

PEOPLE SAY VESTED INTERESTS.   YES, THIS INCLUDES MONEY interest, but also the interest the top dogs have in staying at the top.

I have a PhD in Politics and a law degree, and it’s obvious to me that a clever way for the powerful to stay in power at the top is to weaken everyone else.

If I were powerful and I got the clever idea to release billions of mosquitos to harm people and make them lose sleep, I’d probably do it. [Makes whiney noise again]

Surely it’s absurd to say that the mosquito release is being done just to save birds from malaria.

Let me wrap up because I see I am the oddball in the room.  I’m here to validate the reasonableness of the public. Hawaii in my opinion is best placed; its culture has not lost the values of beauty, of love, of responsibility.

I don’t know if you realize how unique Hawaii is in this regard. I even think it is not crazy to say Hawaiian culture is a threat — its good people may have to be attacked. I think the Lahaina fire was such an attack.

Bottom line — all Americans must take a stand against the mosquito weapon.”

The person speaking after me (by zoom) was the aforementioned Ms Lia. I was too unnerved to take notes from her talk, but I am copying from her website the sample testimony that she asked people to email in:

I’m opposed to the BLNR 5/10/24 agenda item C6. These bacteria-infected mosquito releases are a dangerous experiment on our islands. Serious concerns about this plan have not been adequately addressed. The agencies involved in this project have lied about the introduction of foreign organisms into the islands and about the release of female mosquitoes that bite, breed, and spread disease. On Maui, these agencies are also flagrantly deviating from the approved plan, increasing the risks of helicopter fire and accident incidents.

Southern house mosquitoes transmit diseases to people and animals, and pathogen screenings are not being disclosed. Wolbachia bacteria can cause mosquitoes to become more capable of spreading diseases. The agencies releasing these lab-altered mosquitoes have admitted that the plan does not include monitoring the effects of the experimental mosquitoes on forest birds. This project has the potential to cause the extinction of the native birds it is meant to protect, and it could impact the health of the people. I demand an environmental impact statement.

Tina and others are also pursuing a lawsuit about the failure of the state to produce an environmental impact statement.

The Pasco Rrupt

The only other person to zoom in on this agenda item was Travis Christian Lau, who writes The Pasco Rrupt [not a typo], which I have not yet been able to download.  Dee McLachlan will smile when she hears that he describes his site as ” The P.R. is a gumshoe of a muckraker built on the back of a carpetbagger sloth.”

Speaking of which, no one at the Land Board meeting accused me of carpet-baggerism. But I hadn’t announced being from NH anyway. These hearings are all wonderfully informal. By which I mean they are great. Human-like! Beautiful.

In any case, as I listened to Travis’s zoom, I heard him specifically endorse my statement that it is absurd to say that the purpose of the mozzie release is to save a bird.  Thank you, Sir.

Hot Porn

One more thing.  The meeting experienced two sex bombs.  That is to say, when the Chairwoman called for “the next zoom contribution, please” it turned into a visit from I dunno, somebody with some very hot videos. “Up close and personal” shall we say.

Afterwards, I told the secretary that maybe my visit was the prompt for this sort of thing to happen. That is, it’s possible that the “bombing” was meant to discredit any dissidence.

The meeting ended with the board voting an extra $12 million for the mosquito project.
