Rachel Vaughan Tells of Good Coppers in South Australia

In 2018, I interviewed Rachel Vaughan (born 1973) for Gumshoe. She reported her knowledge of the 1966 murders of the three Beaumont children, which she got from her older siblings. In regard to another famous case, that of 10-year-old Louise Bell, Rachel Vaughan personally saw the murder take place.

It is well known to the GumshoeNews community that the South Australian police, known as SAPOL, had some involvement in those murders as can be judged by their stonewalling of any investigation. No one has ever copped the blame for the death of the three Beaumont children. A man who is likely innocent in this instance, Dieter Pfennig, is in prison for the kidnapping and murder of Louise Bell.

Today we are entering the new era of Police State in Australia. Surely the majority of cops do not wish to become the tormentors of ordinary people, such as those who do not wear a “Covid” mask. We need to reach out to them to show support for their resistance to an unjustified and illegitimate police state.

Luckily, we have learned of spontaneous remarks made by police, such as “This is not what I signed up for,” and even one who said, “I quit.” (We don’t want them to quit, though. We want them to hold the fort and be honest.)

From Rachel Vaughan’s Notes

Today I asked Rachel Vaughan if she could provide us with any vignettes about cops being helpful to her. (Most were not – she received devastating treatment from SAPOL). Ever willing to look on the bright side, Rachel immediately came up with a “good cop” list. She wrote the following. I will not put it in quote marks – it is all from Rachel’s pen:

I did have a few good cops who did their best to help me along the way. I am grateful for their help.

Detective Annette Burton of the now-defunct Sex Crimes Investigation Bureau (SCIB) was the first to be decent. She even interviewed me in 2007 regarding the little girl whom I saw mutilated in the bathroom in 1977 when I was 4 years old.

My sibling also saw the same little girl, plus a man, woman, and two other children brought to the house in body bags that day. My sibling was 22. I also saw the man’s foot on the edge of the bath.

Shortly after I contacted her, Det Burton married another cop by the surname of Burden. Her surname then changed to Burden. I thought this an interesting name change.

Here are some of the notes from my chronology of ‘Authorities whom I have contacted’ regarding Det Burden:

August 21, 2007 — INTERVIEW with Annette Burden and Scott Barker of SCIB, at Police Station, detailing my sexual abuse; and a witness account of small child’s body as well as a man’s right foot in our Macklin Street bathroom in 1977.

It is important to note that during this interview, which I taped and Burden taped also, the second officer – Scott Barker – sat at the other end of the room with his head down as if he was in trouble. Burden would engage him occasionally with a word or two, and I really felt she was remonstrating with him for some reason. He seemed contrite.

At the end of our interview, as I walked past Burden to leave the station, I said something along the lines of “I’m not lying, these things really happened.” At which point she looked back at me. She had tears in her eyes. She replied with something like “I have no doubt….”

I have the exact words written down somewhere. I was so amazed and heartened by her words that I wrote them down when I got home. Sadly, this didn’t help to force any further investigation.

September 4, 2007 — phone call to, and conversation with, Annette Burden of SCIB to see how case has progressed. Burden says Scott Barker now handling my case but is on five weeks leave. No-one else is handling Barker’s portfolio in his absence.

September 10, 2007 — phone call to, and conversation with, Scott Barker (SCIB). Says he is in process of organising an interview with Max (my father) in Stansbury, and it will take 4 to 6 weeks.

[When Rachel says “Max,” she means her father, Max McIntyre, 1929-2017]

Later in 2007 — phone conversation with Scott Barker of SCIB. Told by Barker (taped conversation): “You are just one in a long line of victims and you have to wait your turn.”

December 10 or 11, 2007 — taped conversation with Annette Burden of Sex Crimes Investigation Bureau, in which she states that they are dropping their investigation into Max, re my allegations, and that Scott Barker would be writing to me to tell me why my sibling’s allegations do not constitute corroborating evidence.

This phone call from Scott Barker never eventuated. I waited over a year then tried again:

2009 — phone conversation with Annette Burden who tells me that Scott Barker was on leave, but would give me a written response asap. Tells me to wait for letter, but if it doesn’t come, to contact Det. Paul Lewendowski of SCIB instead. I did contact Llewendowski but he was truly awful and unprofessional in his dealing with me.

Another decent cop, named Guy XXX, came to my rental property in 2012 to pick up a statutory declaration re my witness account of Louise Bell’s death:

January 20,  2012 — my statutory declaration to SAPOL (signed 19 Jan 2012) declaring my witness account of Tracey Louise Bell’s murder, handed to officer Guy (XXX Police officer) at my then home (XXXX address) in the presence of my mother.

April 23, 2012 — rang XXX Police station, spoke to Guy. Asked re my 19 Jan statement, he said he couldn’t get anyone at Major Crime to take it.

As you can see – this nice officer had a hard time getting anyone at major crime to take the stat dec. The stat dec did finally make its way to Major Crime. At which the point the whole debacle headed by Detectives Anthony Van Derstaldt and David Sheridan ensued. Both failed in their duty to investigate appropriately.

This brings me to the third cop who was decent – her name was Sue Lock – again of SCIB. I rang Sue at SCIB on February 16, 2012. She was decent enough to listen to my allegations, my frustration with Scott Barker not returning my calls, and the fact that my two siblings and I had made serious allegations against our father but we were being ignored.

I asked why our corroboration was not enough to charge him. Sue basically said she was horrified at what we had all been through. Sadly, nothing ever came from the conversation, but at least I felt that I had been heard.

July 4, 2016. I spoke with the detective who helped Andrew get Tony Munro convicted in 2016. He was lovely. I won’t name him here. Seems he copped a lot of bother for pursuing Munro. I do wonder if this is why so few police have helped myself and my siblings.

The next decent officer whom I interacted with was Det. William Truesdale of the Special Crimes Unit. I liked him immediately because of his name.  As far as I know Det. Truesdale was already investigating Max (at the behest of my MP, Rebekah Sharkie), prior to Max’s death on the 13th of June, 2017, but this is the first correspondence which I have noted in my chronology:

June 25, 2017 — Letter received from Brevet Sergeant Will Truesdale of the Special Crimes Unit, as requested by Rebekha Sharkie, MP. No reference number. Asks me to make phone contact with him.

June 29, 2017 — Contacted Det Truesdale SCU. Sent Professor of Proctology Nicolas Reiger’s medical report regarding my rectal cutaneous nerve injury, as well as cystoscopy procedure hospital forms. He will email me medical document release forms to sign and return to him.

July 17, 2007 — Medical release forms for Det. Will Truesdale SCU received, signed, and returned to him.

As you can see, I signed medical release forms and sent them off to Truesdale AFTER Max’s death. I had to resend some further medical authorities later as they seemed to disappear from his emails:

July 21, 2017 — Resent some info which I had previously sent Det. Truesdale but which he did not receive, as well as more, signed medical consent forms.

August 10, 2017 — Contact from Det. Will Truesdale asking if I have contact details for Dr XXXX, my treating doctor, from early 2000’s. I contact his previous employer XXXXX Clinic. I am told that Dr XXXX left for XXXXX Medical Centre. I contact the centre but Dr XXX has moved on, whereabouts unknown.

August 25, 2017 — Meeting with Brevet Sergeant Will Truesdale (plus second detective) regarding my allegations against Max for sexual assault (at XXXX Café because the police station is closed despite Truesdale booking it for our interview – he seems genuinely annoyed that the station is closed) at which time Will explains that he cannot continue his investigation as Max has deceased.

At this point, I seriously questioned whether Truesdale was simply sent in to fish for info from my medical files. But I still bear him no ill will as he was decent in his manner toward me.

During our cafe interview, he asked me why I was so certain that it was a former cop and convicted paedophile Graham Bennett Fraser who had abused Louise Bell and me. I blurted out ‘because I had to suck his ….!!” Both detectives were a bit taken aback. I was apologetic and clarified that I wasn’t angry at the detectives – I was annoyed at the situation. I mean, what a stupid question!

Another decent police officer – Brevet Sergeant Tyson Mobbs of Christies Beach Police Station — came to my house on the 28th of July 2018 to interview me regarding my allegations against a family member who had statutorily raped me when I was in my early teens and then held me down afterward so my father and his best mate could rape me.

This was only days before my scheduled video testimony for the International Tribunal for Natural Justice, on the 2nd of August, 2018.

Det Mobbs was lovely. No nastiness whatsoever. He even followed up by interviewing both the family member involved and my father’s best mate. Both denied the rape but at least they were questioned. Sadly, I didn’t have any corroborating evidence such as phone confessions or letters of apology so there was nothing else that could be done with regards to charges. Some of my notes from that time:

January 9, 2018 — I call Sturt CIB and ask about my statutory declaration detailing a statutory rape by my family member and subsequent rape by Max and his best mate Wxxx Bxxx, whilst the family member holds me down when I am almost 14 years old. Told it has been given report number 18C95270 (lodged Nov 2017.)

July 8, 2018 — Find I have a message from Christies Beach police officer Brevet Sergeant Tyson Mobbs. He wishes to have an interview regarding my 2017 statutory declaration Report # 18C95270 alleging statutory rape by my family member and rape by Max and Wxxx Bxxx.

July 28, 2018 — Interview at my home with Brevet Sergeant Tyson Mobbs re report number 18C25970.

October 17, 2018 — I am informed by Brevet Sergeant Tyson Mobbs of Christies Beach Police station that one of the above abusers (about whom I made allegations to both Sturt Police station and Federal Police in November 2017, report number 18C95270) was interviewed in another town regarding my allegations.

Finally, I had two officers come to my home in 2019 after I reported that Louise Bell’s “grave” was being dug up at Macklin Street in November. This is a quick rundown of what happened:

November 23, 2019 — Receive a message from a friend in XXXX that the little shed/mouse house at Macklin Street is being jackhammered up.  I contact Dee McLachlan in Melbourne and friends in Adelaide and tell them what is happening.

I race into Adelaide and arrive at Macklin Street where four supporters are waiting for me. I can hear the jackhammer going. There is a skip in the driveway full of rubble. I try to speak to current owner Xxx Xxxx about the fact that he is digging up a crime scene and it needs to be done forensically. He says he’s contacted police and whistles as he works.

Female owner Xxx Xxxx comes out. She knows my name, asks me what I’m doing there. I explain that I am there as I have been waiting 36 years for this day and I am hoping for some closure. My supporter speaks for me and asks that I be allowed to go out the back and watch the dig or take some soil – for closure. Female owner replies no. Friend asks why. Female owner says “We’re not finished yet.” Emotional words are spoken and female owner then goes into the house.

My supporters and I decide it’s pointless and too distressing for me to stay, so we go to my car and get in to leave. Police turn up as we attempt to leave and flash their lights blocking my egress. I speak to the two officers, give my name and address details, and explain the situation to them. They say I need to make a report at a police station and that I cannot return to Macklin street for 24 hours.

I leave with my supporters. But I’m too anxious and annoyed to leave the area entirely, so we do some exploration.

We drive to nearby Castle Street and speak to the owner at house number XX — Cxxx Sxxxxx. We go to XX Railway Terrace and knock to see if the owner is home and take photos as the house is up for sale and we are interested in purchasing. Both properties have ‘easements’ indicated on 1955 titles which look like tunnels.

[Tunnels are essential to Rachel’s story, in general.  Adelaide publicly boats of its 19th-century tunnels; some are part of tourism.]

We then go to Chitral Terrace as I noticed on the way to Macklin Street that there was a foot-deep dip in the footpath over a place where there is a boundary line – sometimes indicative of a tunnel — indicated on the SAPPA government map I have been referencing. I take film footage of the dip in the footpath. Whilst there, my friend and I are watched by two men in a ute.

Whist on Chitral Tce, I ring Crimestoppers at 1:38pm. I then drive to XXXX police station and I ring Crimestoppers again at 5:12pm from the carpark of the police station. Both times I am refused a report number and told I must make a report at a station.

The police station is closed as it is after 5pm.

At 8:23pm (still on the same day, Saturday November 24, 2019) I call SAPOL on 131 444. I make a report that I rang Crimestoppers twice, and spoke to two police officers on Macklin Street and need to make a report as advised but the XXXX station was closed when I went there that afternoon. I tell the woman about the fact that a crime scene is being tampered with and if I wait until Sunday or Monday to make the report, the evidence may already be compromised/lost.

Two male police officers (Mike and Joe?) arrive at approximately 8:45pm and take my statement (report# SAI1900275279.) They ask to speak to my partner who comes out and speaks with them briefly. Both officers are professional and friendly.

Dee McLachlan publishes on Gumshoe News ‘Removing a Crime Scene Skip by Skip’.

That pretty much sums up the decent police officers whom I have been in contact with over the past 14 years. Sadly, these decent, well mannered, professional police officers are outnumbered by about 8 to 1. I am including officers at the PCA, Police Ombudsman’s office, and Major Crime department in that list.

Note from Mary W Maxwell: The following is a recent interview of Rachel by Shaun Attwood in the UK. At 6.30-7.00 minutes she explains the way a case against police gets shut down (both in UK and Australia) by being called “an operational matter.” And to think we let them get away with this!

  1. Thank you for Mary and Dee for putting this together.

I really do believe that there are ‘higher up’s’ in the SA police force who prevent proper investigations into serious crimes in order to protect certain individuals.

In my opinion the many major crime detectives whom I have contacted over the past 14 years regarding my father’s crimes are complicit in a cover up of monumental proportions.

Professor of law at Flinders University – Bob Moles – has been calling for the entire 10 000 autopsies overseen by forensic examiner Colin Mannock to be re-investigated.

Forensic examiner/coroners work very closely with major crime departments.

Perhaps this is another reason why ex head of the major crime dept Doug Barr ended things late last year.

    https://gumshoenews.com/2019/12/01/did-ex-head-of-the-south-australian-major-crime-department-take-his-own-life/

    • Because Colin Mannock was so unethical, I would make a “rebuttable presumption” that any “iffy” case he worked on (as coroner — heck, who knows how else he “worked on” people) be considered a murder.

So why was such a poorly credentialed man allowed to be coroner? Surely not to do the job ethically.

Suggestion for a law student to get a Masters of Laws in Adelaide or Flinders: pull out 50 of Colin Mannock’s cases and investigate. Yay!

    • Thank YOU Rachel.
It is the courage of normal people that allow the world to change. Each person that holds a light will help others hold their light. I believe so many are now coming forward. The old secret guard cannot hold onto secrets much longer. It is in their best interests to allow the truth be told.

    • That is very nice. There’s something angelic about well trained boy’s voices that is distinct from all others; although I think this little group is not as good as some of their predecessors that I recall from years ago.

It reminded me of when I was a boy soprano in a school choir that won the eisteddfod about 60 years ago. Our choirmaster insisted that our hands be clasped in “monkey grip” at the solar plexus because it almost forced a shoulders back, big chest for good breathing and resonance, and he insisted that there be no “head banging”, gyrating, swaying and all that. He said something like: Whatever the music makes you feel I want it to come out of your mouths in the sound so that it touches the audience.

Perhaps such focused “dictatorship” is no longer acceptable in “emancipated” society. I very much doubt that the best of humanness is compatible with indulgent “fun”.

  2. Friday evening news: Numerous paedophiles and child traffickers , arrested around Australia after AFP investigations. Why then has the alleged burial site of the Beaumont children not been excavated after years of allegations about this crime scene.

Are the authorities worried that there may be DNA evidence still at that site that would implicate some “elite” person of our society?

Brings me to another question that Mary may have answer to. Is it legal and is there a reasonable answer why, any court documents can be sealed for many years? These documents are the property of the people. The court is convened on behalf of the public. (Yeah!)

    • Mal, under Section 457J (1) of the law, it says “Any judge in Australia may seal a court document for an extended time in order to protect elites from incrimination.”

      Nah, kidding! Kidding!

I can’t look it up tonight, but I do recall that when a concerned citizen in the town of Dunblane, Scotland (a Mal Hughes type) tried to press his MP for information on the legality of the sealing of the records of the massacre of 1996, he got no answer. (Thus we know what the answer was, don’t we?)

Mal, your question is spot on.

As for the news re AFP, please give us a link. After all, Dr Russell Pridgeon needs to know.

    • This article came up in my feed from 22nd Oct – AFP arrests in relation to that Peter Scully creature:

      https://www.theaustralian.com.au/nation/police-bust-pedophile-ring-rescue-16-kids/news-story/029990cee0eb2cff88922ab668604c8c?utm_source=&utm_medium=&utm_campaign=&utm_content=

“A massive police operation has busted an international pedophile ring sharing some of the most extreme child abuse material produced, resulting in charges against 44 Australian men and the rescue of 16 children.”

“Horrific videos produced by convicted Australian pedophile Peter Scully, involving the rape and torture of girls as young as 18 months, were shared among the group and seized by police.”

“In South Australia, nine alleged offenders include a reservist, a wood and metal worker, a videographer and a restaurant worker.”

“Six children were removed from harm in Victoria, another six in South Australia, two in Queensland, one in NSW and one in the ACT.”

This is the same Peter Scully who was given $500 000 by Australia for his legal bill in 2018 https://www.theage.com.au/national/victoria/australia-pays-accused-paedophile-peter-scully-s-500-000-legal-bill-20180313-p4z449.html

I’m not holding my breath – but maybe there have been a few changes in the AFP.

Of concern is the nod to Peter Dutton at the end of the first article linked at the top of this comment.

  3. The Guardian News reported a few yrs ago that one third of police are masons (I think much higher ) if they don’t join and take the oath they will not get promoted past Sargent the main reason I think is so they keep their mouths shut about things they may/will encounter in their line of work namely SRA and organised child abuse speaking out will get them the sack or much much worse as to why Rachel keeps getting stonewalled or spin doctored from high rankers above These days unbeknown to many the police are actually UN/NWO enforcers along with the ADF many of whom are also masons as we will soon see when agenda 21-30 starts to play hardball Regardless keep up the good work Rachel you have a awokend many thousands of Australians and hundreds overseas about your case and all wonder why SAPOL refuse to dig for the Beaumont children

    • Wayne, I was made aware that for police officers in W.A. to become sergeants or above they must be a Freemason, some years ago by Brendan O’Connell.

  4. Answer to Mal’s question about the sealing of records. When Wm Scott inquired about the Dunblane sealing he was told “There is no statutory basis for it.” !!!

This is a poor quality video, so I have not made it public. The key phrase is at 3.33 minutes.
    (Please turn your volume up.):

      • Your article from 2018 on the Dunblane tragedy is a longish read – but well worth the time invested.

        Fascinating.

Meanwhile, I noticed the bit at the end about the threats that came your way Mary (I assume because you looked into the Dunblane issue ?).

If you’re not at liberty to say who specifically issued said threats, I’d be curious to know their nature. (ie: menacing untraceable phone calls ?, messages in your letter box ?, or was it from official agencies right here in Oz ?), and also the approximate direction they came from – if you’re privy to that.

Curiosity got the better of me Mary, so make some allowance for my nosiness.

        • Sorry, Veggie, I don’t recall what the threats were in June 2018.
I think I was in Adelaide at the time. I would not care to specify anyway.

In general, I do not get harassed. So I suppose I’m lucky. However I consider it an insult if “they” don’t think I am worth bothering with.

          What am I, chopped liver?

  5. Great video on heavy handed policing in Victoria posted on the Voice for Victorian People FB page regarding Friday’s rally:

The Voice of the Victorian People
“What really happened when Victorians came out to lawfully exercise their human rights. What the mainstream media won’t show you, the independent media will.
ABC news is reporting that “About 200 to 300 people were estimated to have attended the rally” Have a look at all the footage to see if this mistruth adds up. Who is the mainstream media lying on behalf of and why are they suppressing this type of real news and information from the general public?
Everything I filmed was for the protection of myself and the Victorian people as it is unclear if the police and the State Labor government are acting in violation of multiple laws themselves based on the conflicting statements of Assistant Commissioner Cornelius on 22.10.2020 and Daniel Andrews on 23.10.2020.”

The video shows Comm Cornelius indicating that we have a right to protest, whilst Andrew says we don’t – and that protesting is shameful. These sickos want protests to test out their mind controlled Stazi police force.

Looks to me like there are thousands of people at the rally.

Weep Daniel Andrews – your days on the stage are numbered.

  6. Pauline Doherty in ‘The Unforseen Warrior Woman’ recently published – also says a LOT about the problem of police- book includes quotes. it is shocking

  7. Thank you Deb. I see that the book costs $20 and a review at IndependentAustralia says:

“The NSW Police, the Catholic Church and the local council of Mudgee are all implicated in this shocking story about a wealthy and powerful family who still reside in the region and the terrible crimes they inflicted on her family.”

Maybe Rachel Vaughan could meet up with the author, Pauline Doherty. Rachel is a warrior woman to beat the band. Imagine if we had a fair number of courageous and resilient people in the population. There would not be a Lockdown.

  8. Herr Google gaystapo are deleting everything that does not align with depopulation agenda.
In these times of plandemic change, the beastiality and porn pushed by msm is on steroids and unprecedentant in history. An example the YAP song, in one day Aug 9 had 26 million views. Sorcery witchcraft and child sacrifice is the head of the snake in this dystopian gulag. It is why pedophiles and poofters roam free in all corridors of power worldwide. If they are to be arrested, the whole system will be purged of satanism – there would be no system left. So it appears, no government is the best government to eradicate the bloodsucking vampires, msm and philantrophists. Our problem, the crown talmudists have delivered abominations to the communists
to enforce Luciferian agenda globally. Without medical military martial law, and the resulting net of the web enslavement of all man/woman kind, these horrific events would not have eventuated.
Here we are at the coal face, living through St. John’s apocalypse prophecy.
They are mocking the Creator with their big bang deceptions of artificial insanity being the final solution. WAP – wireless access points.

  9. OFF TOPIC, AMY BARRETT

I am watching live happenings at the US Senate (odd for a Sunday). I want to tell you how appalled I am — if I have got the story correct — at the fact that the Senate Repubs, as you may have heard, on Friday, reported the issue out of the Judiciary Cttee, to the floor.

We thought they had enough warm bodies to do it — 12 out of 22 cttee members, while the Dems had 10. But THEY DID NOT FOLLOW THE RULE which says that, for a quorum, 2 members of the lesser party have to vote.
All the Dems walked out; none voted.

Now Mitch says by Monday night it will be a done deal. (Unless some senators die.) (Oops.) Dee told me that they found a way to get around the quorum thing. Senator Corryn, a repub, is making a stink — isn’t that nice. I am guessing that “Dee’s” “way around” is for the full senate to vote to change the rule to suit. Either chamber can do that.

    Signed, Appalled

PS I’m a dreamer. I want Amy-babes to say “I wash my hands of all this. I withdraw my name.”

  10. Rachel I’ve inboxed you the name chitral has meaning, the word chit in Latin is child/lamb/kid

I’ve found alot of evidence on it!

    Melbourne princes pier!
SS Chit-ral is on a seat…. There are 3 things I was led to including religious town in the ” former princedom of Pakistan”

  11. Rachel Vaughan…det paul lewandowski was one of four (4) named by barry standfield in a fax he sent to over 2000 media outlets in aust alleging he and the other 3 were paedophiles based on info that came into the speakers (Peter Lewis) office. Ted Mullighan wanted me to take my statement to the head of the Paedophile Task Force, which i agreed to until i spoke to barry standfield a few days later when he told me the head of the task force was LEWANDOWSKI. lewandowski was investigated after an allegation was made about him and the victim told about something to do with the appearance of his dick…he had to drop his dacks in front of other police officers…lol
