Dear Gumshoers and all Australians who give a damn,
In 1996 — which wasn’t yesterday — we had a great drama. Some say the purpose of it was to set the scene for gun control. Another possibility is that the Powers That Be wanted to knock off a few ASIO members by making them play the role of victims at the Broad Arrow Cafe. In any case the chosen patsy was Martin Bryant. He had been Tavistocked since childhood. He was “under the care of” Dr Cunninham Dax who had founded the University of Melbourne’s department of psychiatry. What more need I say? Martin is imprisoned in Tassie to this day.
Then in December 2014 — which seems like yesterday — we had the siege of the Lindt Cafe in Sydney. It was a slightly less gripping drama than Port Arthur, although the prime minister, Tony Abbott did manage to tell the nation that he could think of nothing more terrifying than being a hostage.
In 2016, I attended the Inquest and wrote it up at Gumshoe. It became a book, entitled Inquest: Siege in Sydney, and had a chapter by Malcolm R Hughes about the alleged mock-up of the Lindt Cafe at Holsworthy.
I have recently revised the book and while Mal was proofreading it, he advised me that he had looked further into the matter of the gun used by Monis (your basic Iranian terrorist who switched from Shi-ite to Sunni Muslim just before taking hostages, in order to ask for the right flag, an ISIS flag). This led to Mal writing to the Coroner — seven years ago.
To my amazement, I have now seen that the letter Mal Hughes sent to the Coroner pretty much rips up the whole story — he does not think it was Monis that killed Tori Johnson. Of course Mal hasn’t got a reply (yet, yet). I, too, had formally sent the judge a list of “99 things that don’t add up” and nothing came of it, though it should have. Anyway, Hughsie’s letter now appears as an appendix in the recently revised edition of my book “Inquest.”

Your Honour,
I sent an email to lindtinquest@justice.nsw.gov.au several weeks ago asking if I am able to acquire a transcript of evidence given by Mr Lucas Van Der Walt, but I have had no reply. So I will proceed as though what I have heard is correct information.
You may have already come to a similar conclusion as myself in regards to my observations below:
The news media has informed the public that Mr Tori Johnson died from a head wound caused by a shot fired by Mr Man Monis using his sawn-off shotgun.
We have been told that Mr Monis was armed with a weapon carried in a shopping bag. A weapon, signifies one weapon. Witnesses have testified that weapon was a sawn-off shot- gun.
However, I have heard that Mr Lucas Van Der Walt, in his witness analysis, stated that the head wound of Mr Tori Johnson was caused by a lead bullet fired at close range. Surely an expert would not make a mistaken statement to the court. Lead bullets are fired by certain rifles and pistols, not shotguns, which fire lead pellets.
Mr Van Der Walt’s assertion could be backed up or denied by the medical person who conducted the autopsy of Mr Johnson’s body, being questioned under oath.
I believe that had Mr Monis fired his shotgun at close range, Mr Tori Johnson’s wound would have numerous lead pellets inserted in his head or that there would have been much more extensive damage done to Mr Johnson’s body.
The point being that the police were using weapons that fire bullets composed with 98% copper, not the old-type lead nose. Pistols are capable of firing 9mm lead bullets. If Mr Monis did not have a pistol and the police didn’t use any pistols, who fired that lethal shot?
It had to be someone inside the cafe, as Mr Van Der Walt says the shot was at close range. Certain pistols, such as revolvers, also do not eject the cartridge case which would otherwise have to be recovered to conceal a pistol having been fired, if indeed that was the case.
My conscience told me to speak up, as if my assertions are correct, if Mr Monis did not fire the offending shot, neither did he plan the siege.

MM notes: Anyone who feels a coroner’s report is incorrect can file a complaint to Supreme Court. Per section 85 of the NSW Coroners Act of 2009:
“The Supreme Court may, on the application of the Minister or any other person, make an order that an inquest or inquiry that has been (or that has purportedly been) held be quashed and that a new inquest or inquiry be held if the Court is satisfied that it is necessary or desirable to do so in the interests of justice because of — (a) fraud, or (b) the rejection of evidence, or (c) an irregularity of proceedings, or … (f) any other reason.
“(1) If an application for an order under this Chapter is made by a person other than the Minister, notice of the application must be served on the Minister in accordance with the rules of court of the Supreme Court.” [Bolding added]
It appears that the Coroner took no notice of my letter to which I received no reply.
To add insult to injury I, on 24th Oct 2016 applied for a copy of the evidence given by Mr Van Der Walt in regard to the death of Mr Tori Johnson and after payment of $144.50 discovered that the information therein was worthless. Payment had to be made before documents would be released. There was no mention in Mr Van Der Walt’s evidence of Tori Johnson.
Information direct from the Coroner’s Court states that Scientific Officer Van Der Walt gave evidence on the 27th and 28th June 2016. I therefore again applied on 10th Nov 2016 for the other evidence from the same person. This time because there was a larger volume of pages the cost was $732.00. Once again I was scammed as there was no mention of Tori Johnson in the evidence given or questions asked. I did not wish to to be had once again,so left it at that.
Seeing that the Coroner appeared to take no notice of my writing and the Coroner’s Office refused to hand over the evidence requested, I believe the Coroner deliberately handed down a false finding in regard to the incident.

There was no disclosure has to how Monis managed to get hold of a shot-gun in any case.
How would anyone manage to get hold of any such thing “off the books” in a land that has such draconian restrictions? There are only two possible conclusions and they both leave the NSW Po up shit creek without a paddle
When I was in Sydney, I was offered all sorts of firearms. Nobody was willing to sell their semi-auto military rifles (SKS, M1s, SLRs or pump action shotguns, etc.), but if you wanted something like an old .303, shotgun or semi auto .22 they were available.
Just because the government passed draconian gun laws did not mean that the citizens obeyed. Since I was a barrister that did a lot of firearm cases, I was stunned at what people admitted they had stashed away. I kept telling them to “shut up” about what they had. The only people that were interested in that information were the police.
Yeah, the so-called ’96 “buy-back” was an appeal, there was evidently neither the will or the means to carry out a mass arbitrary confiscation of legally obtained property.
And of course guns don’t wear out like washing machines or motor vehicles

Now, in open defiance of India’s secular constitution, Modi fuses “Prime Minister” with “Chief Priest” to conduct the consecration of this controversial temple.
The “celebration” is not limited to Ayodhya. A holiday was announced in several states, instructing government offices, schools, and markets to remain closed for the public broadcast.
