The Sniffer Dogs Were Stood Down — Sydney Hilton Bombing 1978

by Dee McLachlan

Yesterday, 40 years ago on 13 February 1978, there was a bombing.

Exploding Rubbish

The bomb exploded  at 12.40am just outside the Hilton Hotel in Sydney, Australia, at the time of the first Commonwealth Heads of Government Regional Meeting (CHOGRM). Australia was host to twelve foreign leaders staying in the hotel.

At the time, Malcolm Fraser was the prime minister, and John Howard was the Treasurer. Fraser, who was staying at the hotel, immediately called out the Australian Army for the remainder of the CHOGRM meeting to act as protector.

Yesterday, the mainstream media provided reports of grief, and sought to pass on the following message, e.g., “We need to make sure that we keep in the forefront of people’s minds that this act of terrorism did happen and people did lose their lives…” [Quoting United Services Union boss Graeme Kelly].

The Mainstream Media Then And Now

The Sydney Morning Herald published this yesterday, and also back on 13/2/1978):

“An anonymous caller telephoned the Herald only five minutes before details of the explosion came through, and said: ‘You’ll be interested in what the police are going to be doing down at the Hilton soon‘.”

The ABC reported yesterday:

“Retired Detective Chief Inspector Gary Raymond was among the first officers on the scene… said the bombing changed the nation… [He mentioned] ‘the sense that our country was no longer protected from terrorism by its geographic isolation from the rest of the world’.”

This is a quote from The Australian:

“Exactly 40 years ago to the day, Mr Devries and Mr Lauder would arrive at the scene of Australia’s first domestic terrorist attack… which claimed the lives of three people and injured a dozen more.

“At 12.42am on the night of the attack, garbage collectors Alec Carter and William Favell were loading bins along George Street into the back of their truck, driven by Bill Ebb. A bomb, thought to have been targeting the hotel’s high profile guests, had been hidden inside a bin outside. Once it’s contents were thrown into the truck’s compactor… it detonated…”

Before you could snap your fingers — a radical organisation — members of the Ananda Marga organisation were quickly implicated. Two men connected to the sect (Timothy Anderson and Evan Pederick) were charged over the bombing. Anderson was later cleared, but Pederick confessed to putting the bomb in the bin, and served eight of sixteen years. But he could never have pulled it off.

Needless to say, the MSM declined to indicate the classic markers of a false flag.

An Accidental False Flag?

It seems that the whole thing was an accident. The bomb was never meant to explode. No one was meant to die. It was planted there, in order to be found later — and to be a “security showpiece”. But it didn’t quite unfold that way — as no one had checked the garbage run. They had been turning garbage trucks away for 2 days, but after midnight one came for the overflowing bin, and the bomb went off due to compacting of the garbage.

Let me go through a few of the standard indicators of a false flag:

A Stand Down — Any good false flag requires a “stand down”. Remember NORAD on 9-11. No fighter jets arrived, as they had been sent elsewhere. Keith Burley, a member of the Australian Army Bomb Detection Dog squad, claims that around two weeks prior to the Hilton bombing, they were told to “standby” for CHOGM, and to train for letter bombs. Late on February 10th, they got a phone call stating that they were no longer required. Who made the call that no sniffing around was required?

Protection of the Site — Was the bin prevented from being emptied? According to truck driver Bill Ebb, other garbage truck drivers had been told to “leave it and carry on.” The police had prevented three earlier trucks from emptying the bin that contained the bomb even though it was overflowing with rubbish.

Fast Fingering — One group emerged as the sole suspect within hours of the blast. They were tipped off that the Hindu sub-sect Ananda Marga were the culprits. It only took about 3 hours before Osamah bin Laden was wrongly fingered for 9-11.

Changing Paperwork –– The NSW police switchboard received a bomb threat, or warning that a device had been planted outside the Hilton. The message was never passed on in time. Sgt Horton stated that he saw an occurrence pad entry that showed the warning call was received at 12:32, eight minutes before the bomb exploded. At the inquest four other versions of this pad were shown, each timing the call at 12:40.

Destruction of Evidence — Like the dumping of evidence at the World Trade Center steel, the remnants of the bomb and truck were allegedly immediately dumped in landfill.

Wikipedia

Even the Wikipedia account seems to acknowledge to an inside job. Below are are some additional points, summarized from Wikipedia page:

  • There was a continuous police presence outside the building… This would have prevented anyone placing a large bomb into the rubbish bin.
  • The garbage bin had not been searched for bombs.
  • William Reeve-Parker provided a statutory declaration that an army officer had admitted planting the bomb by switching rubbish bins 24 hours earlier. Reeve-Parker denied knowledge of who the officer was, although he “had helped his son”. Reeve-Parker was never called as a witness at the coronial inquest.
  • The officer-in-charge of police immediately after the bombing, Inspector Ian MacDonald, claimed there had been a “cover-up.”
  • Former Attorney General of New South Wales Frank Walker and Federal Government Senator Gareth Evans had been told by a CSIRO scientist that under pressure from ASIO they had made two fake bombs in the week prior to the bombing. The bombs were designed not to explode but could do so in a garbage truck compactor.
  • The principal private secretary of a federal senator was told that the bomb squad was waiting nearby at this early hour of the morning. That would suggest that they knew about the bomb. The government would not permit people from the bomb squad to be called as witnesses to the inquest.

From Someone There

I spoke to someone yesterday who was around the corner when the explosion occurred. Two ASIO agents were stationed across the road, but never stopped the garbage guys. Military personnel were stationed in the Town Hall area, but never responded. Maybe they thought a secondary device might go off? And there were not 11 injured.

The explosion was massive. The force of the blast penetrated the shopping mall arcades below the Hilton. The wave of energy went into the shopping mall corridors — and was so powerful that windows and clothing from the displays were sucked out into the passageways, not in.

Compromised Inquest

To quote James Robertson of crimesofempire:

“When the desired evidence failed to emerge, it was manufactured by a succession of informants, the claims made by these informants are transparently false…

“The Inquest into the Hilton deaths marked a spectacular low point in this case. The Inquest was abandoned after the presiding Magistrate Justice Walsh deemed that the prima facie case against the three accused Ananda Marga members was so strong that to proceed with the inquest would jeopardise the Margis ability to receive a fair trial.”

Perfect deflection. To continue:

“The Ananda Marga were not involved in the Sydney Hilton Bombing nor any other terrorist attack. In the wake of the botched PR stunt, the Australian Security Services chose to frame the Ananda Marga group based on a conspiracy theory provided by the Indian Prime Minister Morarji Desai who claimed to have been the target of an assassination attempt at the hands of the group.”

ASIO and the “Special Branch” units of the State Police were under scrutiny and criticism in 1978 — and there is nothing like an “incident”, and a dose of fear to get more money allocated to the security industries — to keep us safe.

The Official Story was “Rubbish”

It is so clearly a false flag — a botched one at that.

  1. So government agencies can murder people with impunity?
Have to love our governments protecting our democracy, freedoms and keeping us safe…….. with mass media, shock jokes and ABC as aiders and abettors!
Must locate Howard’s fridge magnet reminding me to be ‘alert but not alarmed’.
It is pretty clear that it is the public who are really being bonked, by our bureacrats and politicians…….. as well as some staffers on the side.

  2. It was known by Government officials what organisation was involved, yet that terrorist group is still employed by we taxpayers today. Since then this group have planned the deaths of many innocent people at Port Arthur and in the Sydney Siege and I would say many others that we are not aware of.

I knew Keith Burley in later years. We were members of the same veteran organisation formed in the Rockingham area of W.A. He passed on several years ago with cancer. Another victim of the Vietnam War.

Our politicians should be very proud of themselves, sending young men off to die in the field, or later to die of battle field induced diseases and sickness. If they survive that, then there is the government agency that can finish them off with a planned false flag event that can kill any number of others with them. Doesn’t matter that civilian women and children will be killed as well.

Yes our politicians and some public servants have an enormous amount of EVIL in their portfolios to be proud about

  3. It always amazes me when one watches these “cold cases” that surface on television. Every little piece of evidence emerges to try solve the murder, a hair, a fingerprint, — or dig ‘again’ for missing children.

But for a false flag murder/s…. expect the evidence to be dumped, data changed, legal fiction to avoid it being heard in court, rotten coverage focusing on emotion, witness circumvention, and deflection. The usual “dodge-ditch-shuffle-subterfuge” is to be expected.
