Where Are The Grown Ups When They Are Needed?

By James O’Neill*

Before he became a member of Parliament, the current (who knows for how much longer) Prime Minister Scott Morrison was in the advertising industry. In one of life’s delicious ironies, he ran an ad campaign “where the bloody hell are you?”.

It was of course aimed at the tourist industry and designed to attract more visitors to whatever the location the question happened to be.

Morrison has been the target of his own long-ago advertising slogan because he chose to take his family on a week’s vacation to Hawaii. Of itself that might not have been remarkable. His Prime Ministerial schedule allows few vacation breaks that coincide with taking his two school-age daughters for a family holiday. It would also be a sorry state of affairs if the absence of one person caused the machinery of government to grind to a halt.

In the present case, however, what should have been a largely unremarkable family holiday turned into a public relations disaster, and the Prime Minister has no one to blame for the sorry state of affairs than himself.

The first self-inflicted wound was the secrecy surrounding the holiday. There was no public announcement. The Prime Minister was there one day and suddenly he was gone. To call that inept would be kind.

The second self-inflicted wound was that his official spokespersons, anonymous members of his office, denied that he had gone to Hawaii. That was worse than a lie, it was a stupid and unnecessary lie. In an error of instant photos on mobile phones, the lie was exposed within hours, yet his office persisted in trying to maintain the original fiction. In this they ignored the golden rule: if caught out in a lie the best defence is silence, or invent some “misunderstanding” or “failure to communicate.”

The worst response is to try to maintain the original, and manifestly false story, that he was somewhere else. That also revealed a further lack of judgement by his staff. No one really cares where the Prime Minister takes his holiday when the issue is whether or not this was the right time to take a holiday. As noted above, in my view the decision was defensible; the lies made it a political liability.

The next major error was to leave the leader of the National Party in charge. He has an even more limited grasp of the truth than the Prime Minister. In McCormack’s case, however, the stupidity is compounded by his making inappropriate comments that reinforced the general perception of the man’s idiocy and lack of political judgement.

Morrison’s party colleagues undoubtedly were grinding their teeth in frustration that the vagaries of the Australian political system inflicted this man upon them in such a prominent position. In the real world he would be virtually unemployable.

All of these shenanigans however pale into insignificance in comparison to the true horror of the situation. Australia is the hottest and driest inhabited continent on the planet. Scientists have been warning for years that the Earth is undergoing one of its periodic climatic shifts, in this case, hotter and dryer then it has been for a considerable period.

It seems equally probable on the available scientific evidence that human activity is influencing the rate of the current climatic change. Whether modifying human behaviour, assuming it is possible to do so, such as limiting the burning of fossil fuels will make a difference in the rate of change to my mind misses the essential point.

For all of its four billion or so years in existence, planet Earth has been undergoing climate change phenomena. There is no rational basis upon which to assume that this is likely to change. Climate variation is a fact of geophysical reality and humans are unlikely to do more than tinker at the fringes.

This is not to be taken as a rationale for doing nothing. Clearly every effort should be made to respond to and ameliorate where possible, the effects of the current pattern of climate change. This is equally true, whether applied to the inhabitants of Pacific Islands losing their ability to survive because of rising sea levels as it is of Australian farmers trying to persist with raising animals manifestly unsuited to a water depleted environment.

All of these changes demand an intelligent and informed response. Instead, Australia is governed by a group of men and women who seem actually incapable of grasping scientific
reality. It is not assisted, in this writer’s view, by a political leadership that swears adherence to an antediluvian view of the scientific world.

There are a number of potential policy initiatives that could be taken that will ameliorate the present crisis, although unlikely to solve it. Having a Prime Minister with a poor judgement about when to take a holiday is, in fact, the least of the country’s worries. The times call for original and innovative thinking and policy responses. It is unlikely to be achieved by the present reality-denying leadership.

  1. “The times call for original and innovative thinking”

My permaculture is still doing fine, although the grass is going brown. One of my ‘innovative’ ideas was that when i have to take a pee, I go outside and find a worthwhile candidate for a shower.

  2. One of my biggest gripes is the lack of water-catchment subsidies for the little guy
And the fact that it’s also virtually impossible to get finance
The level of fire-fighting technology also exemplifies what the Country is all about

  3. I’ve got water tanks on both my house and the shed. Both tanks are 2,600 litres. I drained both tanks watering my property just before the last bit of rain. I got about 1,800 and 1,500 in the tanks during that rain and now that is all gone.

Why aren’t water tanks required on houses, say in cities and towns (hello Sydney). Forget all the ‘Climate Change’ BS – just adjust to the Grand Solar Minimum so we can all work our way through it. The government is not the solution, our individual efforts are the solution.

Here’s an update from Max Igan. Apparently the water supply to Sydney will be depleted in another 2 – 2 1/2 years. – By the way, I’ve got someone coming over this afternoon that is hitting it hard and I’ll be gifting her some more food for the family. Crikey, what will it be like in another 5 years?

    • I once owned a batch in NZ(Kiwi for “very basic cottage”) that was situated on a tiny lot – with a 2000 litre underground tank. So why isn’t every Aus residence likewise equipped ?

  4. Firstly, it is astonishing that O`Neill of all (radical) people should not mention this set of facts:

    https://kangaroocourtofaustralia.com/2019/11/02/scott-morrison-left-tourism-new-zealand-in-similar-circumstances-to-his-sacking-by-tourism-australia-why/

Secondly, less surprising given the bizarre positions taken by the Anglo Regressive Left since ca. 1990 is his soft version of climate denialism,

“Climate variation is a fact of geophysical reality and humans are unlikely to do more than tinker at the fringes.”

Tinker? It is always cute when people who evince no sign of expertise or knowledge of maths, physics and chem (study any science subject at Uni, James, or was it straight Arts/Law?) pronounce upon Earth system science in the face of the numbers and eg. Prof James Hansen (“Storms of my Grandchildren”) Time for an obligatory denialist bash at Tim Flannery now,. James?

    • Does not matter what Prime Minister is in charge, they do what they are told. They are told to roll out the scientific alumni, enter the professors. Funny how they get it so wrong, all the time. They are all lying scum bags. Anna Bligh bought rain making technology from by memory the King of Thailand. Remember when Queensland flooded January 2011, with no cyclone.
So the government advisors know which scientists can achieve more than reams of wasted paper, if they can smell a dollar, or create mayhem to gain total control. Gillard hooked us with another operation mayhem, based on that softening faze, medicare levy for other things. Go women leaders, your indeed a sell out like your envied male scumbags.
Why scream for the UN, to save us, they have front run all of this. They are never going to scramble the RAAF, to ground and investigate some of these environmental manipulation operations, or even just look at their own hangers. Just going to wind you up so your happy with your resilient shipping container home, being mindful not to waste any soylent green that is rationed, by… the professors.
Till geo, haarp, gross nuclear DNA destroying and gmo chemicals are part of the discussion, your never going to get anywhere.
Its easy to solve global climate change, don’t scream for change, stop the crazy scientific “solutions” instead

        • The schoolmarmishmess reminds me of the unlamented Gillian Triggs. But then Bill Leak was a great cartoonist. I decide what is needed in what I write, not anyone else.

But I digress: O’Neill missed the chance to point out probable white collar crime by the current PM, which opens up all sorts of avenues of comparison: with other neoliberal politicians; with financial scams of Christian sects.

By the way, given that the climate denialism in the USA was heavily funded by the coal interests of the Koch Bros, as shown in at least 3 US books on this subject, one would have thought that self-styled Gumshoers would stop and think about where their own denialism is coming from.

Possibly it is due to a (correct) perception that climate scientists tend to be liberal Clintonite/social democrat/identity politics persons of the homoglobalist persuasion, as international Anglo academe tends towards the cosmopolitan. Look at what happened to James Watson of DNA fame (race) or Larry Summers (women) at their hands.

So the argument would be that Gumshoers, in tribal fashion, reject those persons and their science the same way that Joe Six-Pack rejects Al Gore as a silvertail.

Gumshoers are also much more aware than Bob Average of Deep State actions since 1945 and have got used to applying Follow the Money to all issues, which takes them down some strange paths.

          Who knows?

          • You may soon be inebriated, Duns. I am offering you a glass of heavily-laced eggnog for every instance you can show me of M Maxwell following the money.

Go on, try it. I am dying to see if I have ever suggested following the doughsie-oh-dough.

          • Almost as bad as climate change deniers are those who insist that the sun is the cause of climate change on earth. How silly is that? the sun is just a little disc in the sky there’s no way that it could cause climate change.
Climate denialism is as bad as holocaust denialism, if not worse, as the death toll from climate denialism could reach 16 million!.
Climate change deniers didn’t take us seriously in the 70s when we said the earth was facing global cooling, they didn’t take us seriously when we said global warming was a serious issue in the 90s and the noughties, and when we watered down the language by offering the term ‘climate change’ we were laughed at with invective likening it to the ‘nebulous’ War On Terror term. I felt so triggered. Not even my SafeSpace is immune from climate change.
Climate Change Deniers must be delegitimized by removing their facebook and twitter accounts, and should be shipped off to the salt mines in Siberia, along with all those racism deniers, and sexism deniers. How dare they!

      • “are you done?” – nope.

“Fork me” is a common exclamation, its used to express surprise, mirth, – I used it to express mirth, which should have been apparent from the context of the exclamation, it was not an ‘offer’.

The reason I thought the term ‘climate denialism’ was funny is the idea of ‘denial’ has been overworked in its attempt to shame people – like ‘holocaust denier’. After all, there are all those Hollywood movies and we had to read ‘Anne Frank’s Diary’ in High School, how could anyone doubt the obvious truth.

Then there was the attempt about 3-4 months after 9-11, when people started to doubt the approved narrative about the attack and trolls began to call researchers into the attack ‘9-11 deniers’. I thought that was a really stupid move at the time as by then my research showed me that the same ‘tribe’ that was involved in 9-11 was also the tribe involved with the Holocaust Hoax.

The reason I thought it was stupid was that information was quickly being assembled to throw complete doubt on the approved narrative of the 9-11 attack. As such, using the pathetic ‘denier’ insult in an attempt to silence 9-11 researchers would backfire and perhaps give pause to reflect on the Holocaust narrative. Was ‘the Holocaust’ also a hoax? What about Anne Frank’s Diary, was it also a hoax (yes) – opps, unintended consequences and within a couple of months the ‘9-11 denier’ tactic was quickly dropped.

Now we have the same tactic be used for ‘climate change’, a cheap attempt to silence the doubters by calling them ‘climate deniers’ – HOWEVER, your comment took it one step further into the SJW world of ‘isms’ by using the term ‘Climate denialISM’. Right up there with racISM, sexISM, mysoginISM.

I had never heard of ‘Climate denialism’ and find the absurdity of the term funny. Is that term ‘climate denialism’ something you invented or is it also being bantered about by the likes of Extinction Rebellion or Greta and friends?

        • Terry may like to use a search engine of his choice, one that tracks his every move or not, and will see the widespread use of “climate denialism”. I did not invent this term.

I confess that, likely due to Terry’s Solar Minimum underilluminating my head, I was thinking only of the denotation of this term, i.e. “denying anthropogenic global warming”, and not its possible connotations for Terry and others concerned with 9/11 and Judeocide.

To Mary; thank you, it is too hot for eggnog anway, can I have some iced coffee with a shot of coffee liqueur instead?

          • There’s plenty of information to ‘illuminate’ people about the Grand Solar Minimum. However, it appears that people are being intentionally distracted by the ‘anthropogenic global warming’ fairy tale. They won’t be distracted by 2021. All anyone can do at this point is offer the information.

‘Judeocide’, wow Duns, you keep expanding my vocabulary, there is even a separate word for these poor perpetual victims. Again, there is information available for researching the credibility of fairy tales – https://holocaustdeprogrammingcourse.com/

          • ‘Genocide’ – a word reserved for the Gentiles, like the Holodomor, where 6 million people died.

‘Judeocide’ – a word reserved for the Jews, like the “Holocaust”, where 6 million Jews didn’t die.

          • Duns, we do not accuse you of creating the term ‘climate denialism’. I, and obviously Terry, have seen how ‘The Left’ (communists IMHO) have coined buzzwords and narratives that are designed to divide society. They use the Victimhood Pyramid to advance their agenda. (They also need perpetual victimhood to continue implementing more of their agenda, thus why you will never see any of these issues come to a genuine resolution)

What is the Victimhood Pyramid? You can answer this question at the satire site Accredited-times:
            https://www.accredited-times.com/2016/11/17/the-oppression-pyramid-a-lesson-in-critical-race-theory/

    • “The Five Ages of the Universe: Inside the Physics of Eternity” by Fred Adams and Greg Laughlin puts into context the lifespans of ourselves, our species, our planet, solar system, galaxy etc … as a mere, irrelevant blink in time. It describes timeframes, temperatures, pressures etc that are beyond our comprehension and imagination. Which in a roundabout way brings us to the topic of myths 😊

  5. The Technology page on news.com.au says this:

“Tens of thousands of Aussies are lapping up a “ridiculous” conspiracy theory — that climate change is a United Nations-led hoax to aggressively depopulate the world.

“Social media platforms are being used to push the theory, known as Agenda 21, and, in the past four weeks alone, hundreds of Australians have engaged in posts about it.

“A joint investigation by news.com.au and social media intelligence agency Storyful over the past month has found only a handful of these posts take place on fringe sites such as Gab and 4chan.

“The bulk of Agenda 21 conversations are on mainstream platforms Twitter and Facebook — where tens of thousands of Aussies have liked and followed Australian-based pages dedicated to the conspiracy.”

I regret not having had more of a big mouth after the 2009 (or was it 2010) fires at Kingslake VIC, which I believe were set. That was the fire where Police Chief Christine Nixon went to the hairdresser’s — or so The Australian reported, as being a major aspect of the tragedy.

  6. LEGAL NOTICE

No eggnog will be awarded to the awardee in regard to the following follow-the-money item, as I am promulgating it only after the accusation (above) was made.

I have just noticed that in the fabulous video that Terry provided, entitled Drought by Design, the narrator points out that Murray waters are sent to private dams owned by megacorporate farmers.

    Take it away, Duns!

  7. The agenda is to build eight cities between Sydney and Brisbane. To accomodate fifteen million CCP elite and the global servants that will serve them. Hence the scorched earth policy. Manufacturing was destroyed and now the farmers are being forced off the land. All gadgets and food imported, free (slave) trade. Everyone herded into cities (concentration camps) under 24 hour 5G surveillance.

When I came here, seven yrs old in 1965, this place was 99% self sufficient, nearly everything was made and sold here. Most people held true to the teachings of Jesus. Now we celebrate secret santa. All that’s left is consumption in the debt/usury scam. The middle way has been erased to make way for a feudalist techno plutocracy directed by hidden hands. Politicks is a soap opera for infants.

Merry Christmass and happy Jesus birthday. Born in a manger, poor but pure.

    • Indeed. That is the agenda.
Relook up the forecast by Dr Day in his address at Philladelphia university in March 1969. Such agenda been on the toe from after ww11 at least.
Just read Mary’s article logged here at gs years ago. Or search ‘NWO exposed by insider’ at rense.com..
The fascist New World Order one government and religion want everyone’s body in servitude to the commie banker control freaks.
So Trump and his behind scene teams must be dumped to establish their evil sick agenda.

      • Think Kissinger’s observation that if they control the water and food they control the population. Then they can rid the world of the deplorables. Just ask the 20 million starved to death Ukrainians . Now that was a most effective HOLOCAUST, conveniently ignored in favour of much lesser evils.

        • Take a look at this heart breaking story about Australian farmers and what they are up against. It is hard enough out West to keep going without being screwed by the government.

          • The Water Act of 2007, which led to the creation of the Murray Darling Basin Scheme, created by Malcolm “Goldman Sachs” Turnbull is the culprit. High fucking treason by the banksters and their mates in gubmint. Makes one think they might be Satanists.

    • “David Berlinski was born in the United States in 1942 to German-born Jewish refugees who had immigrated to New York City after escaping from France while the Vichy government was collaborating with the Germans.”
      https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/David_Berlinski

Wouldn’t mind betting that the key leaders of the opposition share the same ancestry.
That certainly seems to be the case in every other area of major controversy
But for some reason or other, the dots are rarely connected.
