I’ve always been fascinated by old photographs of grand cities like San Francisco, where enormous buildings tower over streets occupied by only a handful of people and the occasional horse and buggy. It never quite made sense to me.

I years ago I could not understand why the building in Sydney burnt down and that many fairs were well lighted. – note the reference to Sydney at about 22 mins. I did not know that Melbourne had one as well.
The family has a few light bulbs from at least about 1917 and were still working when my wife’s grandma died . Around about late 1970’s
