Australian Foreign Policy Unlikely to Change With Any Change of Government

43

By James O’Neill*

By the time you read this the result of the election will be known. The polls suggest a narrow Labor victory, but with a large probability that they will be a minority government. Friday’s Sydney Morning Herald in a lengthy editorial suggested that Labor should be the winner, largely on the basis that an uninspiring coalition did not deserve a fourth term in office. The polls suggest that the general public share their lack of enthusiasm. The latest polls suggest that only a third of the electorate give either of the two main contenders their primary support.

This means that regardless of which party emerges the winner they will do so with 2/3 of voters not supporting them as their first choice. In the 20 years I have been observing general elections in this country I cannot recall any other election marked by such a scale of disillusionment. A plague on both your houses seems to be the most widely held consensus.

In most areas that the public rate as important, it is very difficult to distinguish any significant differences between the two parties. In my own area of special interest, foreign policy, the two parties are effectively indistinguishable. Yet that is the area that most demands a fresh approach.

Both parties are committed, for example, to the alliance with the United States. In 2021 the government signed up to a new security arrangement, the so-called AUKUS deal. This consists of an alliance of Australia, the United Kingdom and the United States. Insofar as one can judge, the alliance was cobbled together with two principal purposes: to provide a vehicle for Australia to gain nuclear powered submarines, and to represent a united anti- China front.

Let’s look at those two elements a bit closer. The decision to buy the nuclear-powered submarines was made following the decision to cancel the deal to buy conventionally powered submarines from the French.  The whole deal to cancel the French contract is clouded in mystery. There have been conflicting accounts as to when the decision was made and when the French were actually informed.

What is known, yet has received almost no comment or discussion, is that the cancellation of the French contract will cost the Australian tax payer around $5 billion. This is a huge sum to effectively throw away, yet it has received almost zero commentary. I for one can think of a lot of good things to do with $5 billion.

The new deal has been shrouded in almost total secrecy. It will certainly cost the Australian tax payer many more billions of dollars than has already been spent on the aborted French deal. The other factor which is shrouded in mystery is when Australia will actually take possession of these new maritime toys. It has been seriously suggested that it will be at least 20 years, and possibly longer, before the first of these submarines actually come into Australia’s possession. Quite why it will take so long has never been adequately explained.

Their purpose will apparently be to intimidate the Chinese. As Australia has made a decision not to acquire nuclear weapons, it appears that the main task of these submarines will be to patrol the waters close to the Chinese coast. That can only be with the intention of intimidating the Chinese and inhabiting the free movement of their own ships. That seems to me to be a frankly stupid exercise. What purpose is served by intimidating and threatening the free movement of ships controlled by your largest trading partner?

The policy also assumes that the Chinese government is not going to develop plans over the next 20 years to neutralise the maritime threat. Any attack on Chinese shipping by Australian Navy vehicles would be an act of war. Does the government, and the feeble “me to” Labor party not realise that the Chinese already have the capability of firing nuclear missiles on any Australian target of their choice. They are also capable of firing nuclear missiles on any United States target of their choosing, should the United States either act in support of any hostile Australian action, do something to defend Australia, or simply act on their own in support of the crazed notion that they rule the waves.

One of the most depressing aspects of this whole defence policy is that it seems both major parties are committed to it. One has only to look at the panicked reaction to the Solomon Islands entering an arrangement with China that will, inter alia, have those islands visited by Chinese warships. It would not surprise me in the least if the CIA were not already working on plans for regime change in the Solomons.

The thought of a Chinese naval base 2000 km from the Australian mainland is apparently an unthinkable horror. Has any of our defence establishment or their political masters paused for a microsecond to count the number of United States military bases a lot closer to China than the Solomons are to Australia. At last count there were at least 150 such United States bases, and taking the whole number devoted to a potential attack on the PRC the number is closer to 400.

These include major United States military bases in Japan and South Korea, both of which are a lot closer to China then the Solomons are to Australia. We also had the extraordinary statement of Australia’s defence Minister Peter Dutton solemnly assuring us that Australia would go to war against China in the event that the latter took steps to assert control over Taiwan.

The status of Taiwan is another example of the extraordinary lack of historical memory of Australian politicians and their military advisors. It seems completely forgotten by the Australian establishment that from 1949 to 1972 Taiwan occupied China’s seat on the United Nations Security Council. It was happy to pretend that it represented “China” on that body. Australia, incidentally, was one of the countries that voted in the United Nations against recognising the Beijing government as the legitimate representative of China in the United Nations. It seems that those old ideas have not yet completely died. Even though the PRC has been a major factor in Australia’s international prosperity over the past 30 years, it seems that Dutton and his ilk continue to cling to a long gone past.

This bloody mindedness extends to the Prime Minister Scott Morrison who refused to meet China’s new ambassador upon his appointment to Canberra. The Chinese do not forget such slights and the day will surely come when Australia pays an even higher price than the current $20 billions of lost trade for its boorish behaviour.

One might hope that a Labor government will be more enlightened than the frankly infantile behaviour of the Morrison government. Unfortunately, such is the level of Australia’s subservience to the United States it would be a very brave person who anticipated any real change with a change of government.

  1. I just got back from voting. I talked to a mate that had been there since it opened that morning. The local doctor had another clinic for people to get their FOURTH jab. He said most people that morning were coming from the clinic and most still had their masks on. – Pathetic

If there are such a large proportion of zombies in the community, then I fear the results of the election.

      • I went out this morning to get my name crossed off the electoral roll and noticed a Qld government dep’t sign saying “Queensland Government”, not Queensland State Government. Then it struck me that Australia is no longer one nation under under the Commonwealth Constitution but is a land mass divided by corporate jurisdictions no longer Constitutionally subject to Canberra. This then explains the unconstitutional ‘State’ lock downs.

        • A situation that’s just too scary for most people to contemplate
Hence the fact that the respective investors continue to have free reign

    • Episode 2780B X22Report.com.
The monkey pox scam is covered from about 30 minutes.
Recall the monkey truck crash earlier this year in the US.
Look back at Obama et. Al. In Ethiopia with Tedros in about 2011.
Yes and where is Tedros, now Mr Morrison, Sharma et al. You going to instruct G Hunt, this week in Geneva to kneel down to the WHO? Oops, sorry, he already has his riding instructions, hasn’t he, parliamentary ‘chairman’ of our committee on treaties?
Not mentioned is a report I recall that smallpox vials were lost from a fridge. Why were they not secured?
Remember the film Contagion? …… ha! they have to exhibit their intentions, it is a satanic rule to warn you.
I have noted a message that Biden has ordered millions of smallpox vaccine ( ref Epoch Times report)
James, think ahead please. T warns of Taiwan months ago…… it is going to be a new version of Ukraine…. A clean up….. more bio labs to be dealt with?
A deal will be made (happy?) and it appears Dutton is not in on it….. what is he going to do…… attack China by himself?
The US military is running the US and pretender Biden cannot use troops or go to war with no military, otherwise he would have US troops in Ukraine.
Look up the manual of law 11.1-12. > ‘devolution’ is under way.
James, I do not think you are in the loop💁

    • Hopefully I’m immune. I not only had a smallpox vaccination when younger, I also had chickenpox (typical childhood disease). In any case, I won’t be taking their vaccine.

  2. Russia and China are seen by the media to be making a mistake in trying to tone down the US which sees itself as the worlds policeman and arch nemesis to all those who challenge its arrogated authority.

Our drunk with power and at the same time scared politicians see it as their job to back the US all the way, or else.

  3. What is $5 billion
Between 25 million people, it is $200 each. I have so many government bills, I would barely notice another $200 disappearing from my bank account. But nobody is asking to pay the $ 5 billion.
The government is “printing” (borrowing from the RBA) $200 billion per year. The communist ALP always made a habit of running up the deficit and the spivs (“Coalition”) always told the public they were paying it off. The old people used to vote Spiv because they were from the “frugal” generation, rewmebering events of the 20’s and 30’s very well. But they are gone now so the Spiv party has decided to beat the ALP at their own game and run up a dizzying deficit – take that ALP, the poisoned chalice, rising rates, minority government, restless public, like last time (Julia Gillard) the Spivs will probably decline their chance, after all, if you can destroy the ALP in one term then win three on the back of that, it’s a win of course.
So we have no plan to pay the $5 billion, we will just go on printing (borrowing) money and paying interest until the entire ponzi explodes.

    • The Ponzi scheme has exploded.
Russia now has its own currency standard, 1 gram of gold = I ruble.
      Want gas? you pay rubies🤡
Bit complicated to explain the details but about three quarters of the world’s population are dumping fiat dollars.

As a aside, did anyone watch Her Majesty’s show on channel 7 last night.
Absolutely disgusting…… in reality it was a blatant advertisement for the Tom Cruise new movie.
How low can our mass media get to show such crap with so much advertising? Could not help wondering that there was a payoff somewhere with the whole spectacle???
Yes I only put up with it to confirm my thoughts. Will not have 7 election on tonight.

      • I see the gold sovereigns I bought way back when for A$186 are now going for around A$600. I don’t have any Rubles, but maybe I might still be able to buy petrol.

  4. Information lockdown?
Interesting that one person I usually listen to said today that the usual lot (intel connected?) who usually report developments/speculations re world white hat mysteries have been told\ordered to desist for a few days or a week or so.
Ref: Mary ? At situation update at beforeitsnews.com.she said that the ‘sshh’ was advised by a Judy Byington, so Mary had to dig for alternative bland reports/news.

  5. James writes fairy-tale lies of a make-believe world of independent sovereign countries in geopolitical wrestling match when what we have is JEW WORLD ORDER one world despotism that is starting to show deadly fangs and remove all rights and freedoms except for the privileged chosen tribe.

One would think that a nation of even average intelligence would have courage to boot out entire jew-run power structure of Coalition/Labor/Greens after suffering obvious lies and tyranny. But results are in and there seem to be almost none of the freedom parties gaining any senate seats. Did we just had stolen election or are Australians majority just hopelessly DUMB.

Victoria state ought to have had a complete routing of these traitors but instead nothing changed. Incredibly stupid and cowardly voters or election fraud? Maybe Stalin told us what inevitably happens to parliamentary democracy voting systems that is no different to communist rule. At least there, you are spared of pretensions voting freedom. If you disobey, off to the gulag death camps.

“People who cast the votes decide nothing. The people who count the votes decide everything.” — Joseph Stalin

    • I can’t argue against the notion that we have a one-world despotism, but as you know, Hanna, I can’t agree with you that it is Jewish. The CFR is a huge force in US government and its members do not identify as a chosen people — unless you mean entitled individuals.

As for your regret about today’s election in Victoria, did you do anything to try to make it go otherwise? It doesn’t happen by magic, you know.

      • The CFR? You think that definitely tells you who runs the world? Alright, here’s the hard evidence of even that minor subversive US group members, albeit rather dated circa 2010. Just imagine if they were that dominant then, what it means for where we are now. Don’t expect a parasitic group to ever loosen it’s death grip on the host.

Just to tease out some key members from these list.

        “Richard N. Haass(Ashkenazi Jew) – President

        Madeleine K. Albright(Ashkenazi Jew)

        Elliott Abrams(Ashkenazi Jew)

… a whole lot more jews with other shabbos goy as willing race sell-outs …

        Summary:
Of the fifty-five(55) Council on Foreign Relations think tank members, thirty-one(31) are Jews or have Jewish spouses. This is a numerical representation of 56%. Jews are approximately 2% of the U.S. population.* Therefore Jews are over-represented in the Council on Foreign Relations think tank by a factor of 28 times(2,800 percent).”

If anyone here with working brain cells doubts that jews absolutely controls America top to down, you must be so behind the curve as to be diagnosed brain-dead.

        Want more?

“Every time we do something you tell me America will do this and will do that . . . I want to tell you something very clear: Don’t worry about American pressure on Israel. We, the Jewish people, control America, and the Americans know it.” Ariel Sharon, October 3, 2001, to Shimon Peres, as reported on Kol Yisrael radio.

        • Not enough blacks on TV
          Not enough women in politics
Too many old white men running businesses
Too many rich white farmers in South Africa
          Too many Chinese in Sydney
          Too many aboriginies in Redfern
          Too many witches in Salem
Too many jews in the Fatherland
          Solution, depopulation !!!

Why did the pope allow jews to do banking, and not Christians, about 900 years ago. Why are muslims prohibited from usury, since probably the time of Mohammad. They knew the power of creating coin in Caesar’s time.
          Think about it.

    • Hanna, to answer your question, “Did we just had stolen election or are Australians majority just hopelessly DUMB.” After watching events all my life, (I’m 72) and countless elections, and the bullshit spouted during those periods, I have come to the firm conclusion, that Australians “are hopelessly DUMB”. No question about it.

  6. Reuters and other news in US are implying rhat climate change drove Scomo out. Also say Treasurer Josh probably lost his seat.

“SYDNEY, May 21 (Reuters) – Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison conceded defeat in an election on Saturday and the opposition Labor Party was set to end almost a decade of conservative rule, possibly with the support of independents who campaigned for greener policies.

“Partial results showed that while Labor had made small gains, Morrison’s Liberal-National coalition had been punished by voters in Western Australia and affluent urban seats in particular.

“The Greens and a group of so-called ‘teal independents,’ who campaigned on policies of integrity, gender equality and tackling climate change, put on a strong showing, tapping voter anger over inaction on climate change after some of the worst floods and fires to hit Australia.”

    • I was at a polling station for counting, in a very safe Blue party seat, and on two-party preference, the Teal won, everyone was mildly surprised. Globalists have got the masses fully worked out. They love to be scared !!! The sky is falling, or anything will do. By the time they catch up with reality, it will be decades later.

      • I guess “controlling climate change” is an open invitation for Bill Gates to aerial spray us with stuff, or other such whacked out experiments.

  7. Woke up this morning and decided to check the results of the election. It appears that not one ‘Freedom’ party (ON,UAP, etc) got in. All the BS over the last two+ years didn’t seem to make a dent in the consciousness of the masses. However, the ‘climate change’ hysteria appears to have worked for the Greens.

I’m glad I’m as old as I am, I won’t be around much longer and have to watch this beautiful country waste away.

  8. Seriously sizzled, who’s next?
With the green form alone, choosing candidates numbering them 1 to 10, not only took up time in the booths but can you imagine the process of sorting out the tallies. To get through it all would have used a lot of people and it would have taken a weeks.
    Not even considering the pencils.
In real time, the ballot boxes were never opened and went straight to the recycling bins. Three or so hours, to tally the votes, I call BS.

“If voting made any difference, they wouldn’t let us do it.” – Mark Twain

    • It was clear Morrison was going down, as soon as we watched him crash tackling, as in rugby, a minor playing football (soccer).
It’s their theatre of absurdities, telling us in advance every time. Things don’t look good here, fooled again.
Bioweapons are not for our safety and the vaccines are weapons for mass murder.

    • Well where I was it was legit, I went along to look and they were flooded with Teals. How the Teals did their marketing, apart frpom in the fake news, is a mystery to me. I can say I am vindicated in my suspicions that the Blue party didn’t want to win, because there were so many things they could have done about global warming (eg debunk it) but they chose toinore it instead. The independents suffered from the relentless negative press directed against Pauline and Clive, it all goes to show how the media achieves total mind control.
Independents should have been a bit braver on the injections, they should have come out as strongle, clearly united and anti-va666 in my opinion, they might have picked up double digits and run a decent campaign. But it’s time they let Clive and Pauline retire gracefully because the media has made them electoral poison, around here anyway. Just look what they did to Latham with just 5 secdonds of video. They gave him the Martin Bryant treatment. The public is very slow to catch on, most of them never seem. to, they vote on perceived self interest anyway. So the independents have plenty of time to unite properly, under one banner, the policies are all virtually synchronous already, they should use the next 3 years to debunk stuff, and as Trump is doing, set up their own media outlets.

      • People are just like robots around here, for example they have an “ambulance crisis”, the ambulances are queueing up all day instead of picking up customers. The hospital staff are overworked, including vet hospital where they are going nuts according to recent reports, they have each other on suicide watch etc. Alll this came about because McGollum sacked all the workers who would not take his injections (maybe about 10-20%), and he rolled over the “emergency” measures a few days ago, to continue through to after xmas I believe. McGollum created the problem, and now he is treating hte symptom, he says the fault is in the management of St John Ambulance service, and is picking on them ( a non-government organisation ). How can it be the ambulances’ fault if the hospital doesn’t take delivery of the new customers ??? You tell this to the mugs and they nod sadly and go and vote for the red party anyway. Some of them simply hostile, think their vested interest is being threatened. How they survive I can’t guess. I reluctantly agree with Globalists, the mugs deserve what they get. They are far too stoopid to earn any form of genuine respect.

        • “I reluctantly agree with Globalists, the mugs deserve what they get.” – I came to that conclusion a long time ago. Hell, you can’t fix stupid and you can’t have a rational discussion with an irrational person.

At this late stage in my life, all I can do is continue to build up the food producing capacity of my property. It no longer makes sense to keep banging my head against the corruption in society. Not only is there nothing in it for me, but the stoopids actively support the nonsense and will attack me.

We are going into hard times of famine. – I can actually do a small part in alleviating some of that hardship.

          • That’s right, the stoopids are cheering the mad doctors on, as they inject everyone, even babies, with sinister concoctions, it should have stopped at Thailidomide, certain people should have been made an example of, instead they brushed it all aside and went on this current white bread and injections crusade, which we are now in the middle of, and not only do the stoopids love it, they want to ram it down our throats. Damn them they are so insufferably stoopid.

        • Joe Bogun, Regards your mention of St John’s Ambulance and the issue of queueing at Hospitals. Recently, I acutaly had some personal experiences with St John, and those experiences led me to believe, not all is as we are led to believe from St John or the hospitals. For example, are you aware, if you injure yourself, and that injury is classified as “TRAUMA” by the Ambos in attention, it ATOMATICLY means you’ll be going to R.P.H. Doesn’t matter if the nearest hospital is just one “K” away, you WILL be going to R.P.H. If said hospitals closer to where the accident occurred do have beds available, that is of no consequence, you will still be going to R.P.H. Similarly, if you get patched up at R.P.H. and require extensive Rehabilitaion treatment, you ARE NOT GIVEN A CHOICE, as where that treatment will be given. Despite many Rehab facilities being closer to your home, and HAVE beds available, (I rang and checked to booked one) you will be IGNORED by R.P.H. and will still be sent to THEIR PREFERED rehab center. There is most definetly something wrong with our Hospital AND Ambulance system, and IMHO, from personal experience, it’s NOT a shortage of beds.

          • Do you remember Telstra Sensis, they were going to get the “Yellow Pages” onto the internet, but all the IT brains in Australia had joined the banks or big accounting firms, or gone overseas, nobody could get Telstra Sensis working, they sucked out the money and then just faked working until google took over.

  9. Exquisite planning!

Like with the Sars-Cov-2, early treatments/prophylactics appear to exist. Only to be banned from use. (UK and the US are in early to secure Quackzines!)

The below study has been peer reviewed.

Herbal extract may help treat poxvirus infections, study finds
A laboratory cell-culture study suggests that a plant extract used by 19th century Native Americans to treat smallpox may be helpful in reducing the effects of orthopox virus infections, according to a PLoS One study. Historical accounts say that various East Coast tribes successfully used the carnivorous plant Sarracenia purpurea to treat smallpox victims, according to the report.

In Australia, Nazi Swastika Ban Takes Shape as Victoria State Introduces Landmark Legislation
    The Age (Australia)

    https://www.theage.com.au/politics/victoria/victoria-introduces-landmark-legislation-to-ban-nazi-symbol-20220511-p5akbc.html

The Victorian [state] government has introduced landmark legislation to parliament to ban the public display of the Nazi swastika in a move described as a “thunderous blow” to white supremacists and far-right extremists. Victoria will be the first jurisdiction in the country to criminalize the display of the hate [?] symbol, enabling police to remove and confiscate items that breach the ban … The Summary Offences Amendment Act (Nazi Symbol Protection) Bill is expected to have bipartisan support. Symes said she expected it to be dealt with expeditiously. Once in effect, 12 months after the bill passes parliament, those caught intentionally displaying the Nazi symbol in public – including in graffiti – face a maximum of 12 months in jail and a $22,000 penalty. The ban does not extend to online displays …

    • What about the word ‘nigger’, am I allowed to use it in a sentence? I note that many black skinned entertainers use the word, am I prohibited from using the word because I am a lighter colored skin?
