For today’s entertainment, I [DM] adjusted the 2011 poster for the movie CONTAGION to adapt to the real 2019 – 2023 story.

The original plot:

“Returning from a Hong Kong business trip after an affair, Beth Emhoff is feeling a little bit sick which she attributes to jet lag. Her husband rushes her to the hospital where she suffers a seizure and dies. Soon, several cities are placed under quarantine, causing panic buying. Meanwhile, at the CDC, Dr. Hextall determines the virus is a combination of genetic material from pig and bat-borne viruses and works on a vaccine.  Scientists determine the virus is spread by respiratory droplets and fomites (A fomite is any inanimate object that when contaminated with pathogenic bacteria, viruses etc., can transfer disease to a new host).

“Conspiracy theorist Alan Krumwiede claims to have cured himself of the virus using a homeopathic cure derived from forsythia. People overwhelm pharmacies boosting sales of forsythia. And then (drum roll) Hextall inoculates herself with the experimental vaccine, then visits her infected father. She does not contract MEV-1 and the vaccine is declared a success. The CDC awards vaccinations by lottery based on birthdates. By this time, the pandemic’s death toll has reached 2.5 million in the U.S. and 26 million worldwide. A Government official Sun Feng kidnaps WHO epidemiologist Dr. Leonora Orantes as leverage to obtain a vaccine for his village. WHO officials provide the village with the earliest vaccines, which were placebos. Meanwhile, people receive the vaccine and life begins to return to normal.”

    Plot is hardly surprising these days. From memory.
    Mystery virus needs solution.
    Find source …… a monkey of course, what else, escaped from somewhere.
    They track it down via a sweet child and our hero isolated the bug.
    Meantime some very large town is infected, so it is locked down and the medical team is working there. Including hero’s doctor girlfriend or whatever.
    The authorities need a solution, a pandemic may ensue. We must be saved.
    So the military turn up with its solution….. arguments ensue.
    Meantime our hero working on the problem and solution.
    The military have a simple solution load up a bomber and wipe out the town and all with a bomb, not nuclear, something just as effective….. one of those air things.
    The bomber crew area flying towards the city.
    Our hero has found the source and a treatment and tries to convince the military.
    But the military, Donald Sutherland I think, is determined to go ahead.
    Hero hijacks a helicopter and faces off in front of the approaching bomber….. they have a bit of shouting match with hero.
    Bloody hell, we are all in suspense.
    Anyhow the bomber crew overfly the target and there is a big fireball somewhere in the horizon.
    Sorry to spoil a viewing.
    Of course it was only Hollywood.

    Someone thought up a adaption, what if the scenario was for a world war with someone to blame for it?

    Not quite; I understand from several sources, including a local, that President …….. ‘Madprick’ ordered such a bombing of an East Coast US city. However the crew must have seen the contagion film, so they overflew the target and cooked some fish out in the Atlantic.

  16. Senator Lidia Thorpe is more representative than many of them and more in touch than the rest of her Greens former colleagues who think the planet is warming up when it’s clearly cooling down, and want to bomb Ukraina more, and inject us.

    We need more politicians who bring issues to the fore and less of these mumbling undertakers and realestate agents lying on camera. Who needs more laws yet that’s what they think they are there to do, endlessly create more laws. The best idea would be to spend time deleting laws or else just stop hanging around in Canberra, instead go and spend some time in the electorate. It’s virtually impossible to meet the politician and give them an earful, I have met a couple of moderately influential ones who simply did not want to acknowledge reality. They have their own agendas and the electors are just a necessary nuisance to be minimised as much as possible.
    Canberra is basically stupid, and bullshit. They could mothball it for a year and nothing would happen. Politicians just create obstructions and siphon off money as fast as they can. Some of their agendas are pure evil, others are deliberately ignorant. They pretend they are doing good things when they have got out of the way or removed one of their obstacles. They are mostly all liars and not worth the pay let alone the pension. When they ridicule and ostracise one of their own, that one must be onto something. We have seen it before. Anyone steps out of the red/blue/green paradigm gets ridiculed and ignored by the political class and media. If they want an easy ride they have to conform to the owners, even if they are not owned themselves. The useless herd turns up for work, to mess up our lives and get their hand as deep as possible into our pockets. They really are rubbish.
