Having packed a few belongings, a Palestinian family is off to the airport – on their way to a vacation in Bali (a favourite Aussie escape). Speaking to the mother, she said: “It will be a great relief for the children to have some peace and quiet – away from the racket. Their cousins were killed in a school the other day – so it will be fun for them to lie around and sunbathe on the beach for a few weeks. I am also looking forward to a good latte, my regular coffee haunt was turned into rubble a few days ago”.
Most of us here in Australia could not imagine our suburb flattened into rubble, and we mentally struggle to engage emotionally with such pain. This is truly HELL.
Israel is planning to hold its fire in most of the Gaza Strip for a seven-hour ‘humanitarian window’ – four weeks into its bloody conflict with Hamas. Now a short ceasefire to the most brutal bombing and killing of civilians is spun as a ‘humanitarian’ act. I wonder what spin doctor thought of that brilliant idea.
The civilian toll is edging up towards 2000 – so I wonder what it must have been like when the allied forces bombed Iraq back into the stone age. We have lost count of the hundreds of thousands of civilians who eventually lost their lives there. Are we completely insane?
I’m sure many watching the news don’t really see the Palestinians as people like ‘us’ living in privilege with so-called freedoms and the education that the West offers. But the death of a prominent physician and his family killed reminds us: The El-Farra family – they are us. We are all people. Below, Yara Abed Al Salam El-Farra, 8 years old, was killed
Below are some different angles on the conflict.
Who profits from this war? The Israeli (and US) war industry? This from The Real News Network
BE WARNED – Very Graphic Video – the death of journalist, Ramy Ryan, in Gaza.
Articles refer to the David and Goliath struggle. The mighty power of Israel, but this article is questioning whether Israel’s future is in jeopardy.
Another article on: Is Israel’s bombing of Gaza collective punishment? Three days after the Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu launched the current war in Gaza, he held a press conference in Tel Aviv during which he said, in Hebrew, according to the Times of Israel, “I think the Israeli people understand now what I always say: that there cannot be a situation, under any agreement, in which we relinquish security control of the territory west of the River Jordan.” The author of the New Yorker article says – What is going on in Palestine today is not really about Hamas. It is not about rockets. It is not about “human shields” or terrorism or tunnels. It is about Israel’s permanent control over Palestinian land and Palestinian lives. That is what Netanyahu is really saying, and that is what he now admits he has “always” talked about. It is about an unswerving, decades-long Israeli policy of denying Palestine self-determination, freedom, and sovereignty.
And – A deadly attack on a school in the city of Rafah in the south of Gaza has been denounced as a “moral outrage” and “criminal act” by the UN secretary general, Ban Ki-moon.
Yes we are not only corrupt, ignorant – but insane.
Hello down under,
I’m sorry to say that this type of deadly casual response is becoming all to common. We personally have experience the “why”, and are quit terrified of its implications. The energies being transmitted (via millitary? cell towers? satellites? magnetic field loss?, take your pick) are ruthlessly mind numbing. We have experienced being completely incapacitated for days, only to ask “what the #*% just happened… that cold behavior is NOT me!” A very eerie calm decends on our once beautiful town in Saskatchewan Canada, along with very subtle mechanical-like tremors deep in the earth. No bees, no plants flowering, no signs of life anywhere… other than freaked out pets, heart attacks, and incoherant neighbors. I kid you not. This is very real and when we snap out of the daze, we are paralized with terror to even speak about it.
