Prolonging the Agony — the Book To End All Wars

Please play this game with me for a moment. Pretend there is a bloke named Johnny living in Blandland.  He knows of a very rich man in his country. Johnny goes to him and says he has heard that the chemical rubi will soon be needed by everyone and he knows of the only land where rubi is found. He offers to do all the violence necessary to take over that land.  The rich man says OK, do it.

It takes many months, but he does it, under cover of false stories.  Thousands died, no one really cared. “C’est la vie.” Fabulous riches were subsequently added to the rich man’s coffers, via sale of rubi.

Then Johnny says, “I see that our nation, Blandland, has a competitor — Nation X.  It will soon become dominant and your position in Blandland will deteriorate. I know how to destroy Nation X. And I can arrange for X’s neighbor, Nation Y, to join our Blandland army in warring on X.  But there’s a hitch. We have to find a way to keep the war going for 4 years in order to reduce X’s resources and morale to zilch-o, so it can’t ever rise again.”

Rich man says “Fine, do it.”  Johnny does it (paying bribes to politicians and army officers and creating excuses for the war). It succeeds but this time millions die, including numerous Blandlandese. No punishment comes to Johnny or the rich man, as the public did not really understand. Folks laid flowers on the graves and give medals to wounded soldiers. End of story.

That’s my way of introducing a fantastic 2017 book, “Prolonging the Agony” by Gerry Docherty and James Macgregor. They had already told us about “Johnny” in their 2014 book, “Hidden History.” Johnny is Lord Milner — not born a nobleman but a self-made man, from Oxford. The rich man is Cecil Rhodes and the “rubi” is the gold from South Africa’s Transvaal.  Blandland is England. Pardon the crudeness of my sketch, but really the story is almost that simple.

So far, we had known much about it from Prof Carroll Quigley’s “Tragedy and Hope” book of 1966. We knew that “Milner’s Kindergarten” was the venue for imperialists, whom the Scottish authors here, Macgregor and Docherty, refer to as The Secret Elite. The goal was One World, with Brits in charge.

As for the competitor nation, X, it’s Germany, and to destroy it completely the assistance of France — “Y” — was needed. I noted “We have to find a way to keep the war going for 4 years in order to reduce X’s resources and morale to zilch-o, so it can’t ever rise again.”

And what was that way? It is very, very sad, and accounts for the book’s title, Prolonging the Agony, and its subtitle: How the Anglo-American Establishment Deliberately Extended WWI by Three-and-a-Half Years. It consisted of (I won’t blame you if you don’t believe me) FEEDING GERMANY so she could fight for all that time and use up her military supplies.

That consisted of feeding her with food, but also feeding her coal and copper and whatever else was needed for her — “our enemy” — to run the war. The supplies were routed through neutral Sweden. Think about it: feed Germany so Germans can shoot us Brits, Aussies, French, Americans etc. And don’t forget, men were in the trenches for months with no change of underwear. The authors mention that our soldiers’ winter kit did not arrive till early November, thus some men died by freezing.

The book argues well for the Lusitania having been hit by one torpedo from a U-boat and then “a second explosion.” It argues well for Gallipoli having been a suicide mission. It argues well for Lord Kitchener — a dissenter — getting murdered. The story of the Belgian Relief scandal portrays Herbert Hoover, pre-presidency, as a snaky character.

I have not yet read the chapter on “The Rape of Russia.”(The book is 512 pages long, plus 40 pages of small-print references). My goal was to see what is being said about the Top Boys, the secret elite. Quoting page 360:

“The men behind the carefully constructed conspiracy were Alfred Milner, Leo Amery Sir Edward Carson, Geoffrey Dawson (editor of the Times)… and Waldorf Astor (editor of the Observer). They met regularly on Monday evenings to formulate their alternative plans for war-management over dinner.

“Others who were invited to join them included Lloyd George [whom they soon made prime minister, without a parliamentary vote], Sir Henry Wilson (at that point a corps commander on the Western Front), Philip Kerr, another protegee of Milner [“Johnny”] from his days in South Africa [fetching the “rubi”] … and FS Oliver, a writer, who was fanatical in his disdain of groveling peacemakers.”

Palestine

I know that readers are eager to get information about Jewish influence. I’ll now summarize the main points of the Macgregor-Docherty picture of involvement by Zionists. This book doesn’t go up to the 1948 establishment of the state of Israel — it ends at the point of the Paris Peace Treaty of 1919.  Throughout the war, Palestine was part of the Ottoman Empire run by Turks.

To help Jews get a “national homeland,” the plan would have to be for Britain to get administration of all of Palestine, which is in fact what happened in Paris; it got a mandate.  (France got the mandate for Syria.) Some Zionists had been seeking a homeland anywhere, including in Uganda. The desire was to have the means to avoid persecution which had followed Jews since ancient times.

However, as the authors of Prolonging agree, most Jews around the world were not in favor of setting up a home for the Jews. If they were assimilated to countries such as England and the US, they would have no plan to move to the desert, and did not want, at home, to be defined as anything other than Brits or Americans. Many Jewish journals wrote in opposition to the Homeland idea.

However, once the Balfour Declaration was announced in November 2017, there were great celebrations arranged in all synagogues. The message was that Jews would not be left to fend for themselves; they now had a powerful state to back them, namely, the UK. Here is the wording, all in one sentence, of what was cautiously promised:

November 2nd, 1917

Dear Lord Rothschild,

I have much pleasure in conveying to you. on behalf of His Majesty’s Government, the following declaration of sympathy with Jewish Zionist aspirations which has been submitted to, and approved by, the Cabinet.

His Majesty’s Government view with favour the establishment in Palestine of a national home for the Jewish people, and will use their best endeavors to facilitate the achievement of this object, it being clearly understood that nothing shall be done which may prejudice the civil and religious rights of existing non-Jewish communities in Palestine or the rights and political status enjoyed by Jews in any other country.

I should be grateful if you would bring this declaration to the knowledge of the Zionist Federation.

I was pleased to learn the origin of the phrase “Bob’s your uncle.” It seems that Foreign Secretary Balfour was the nephew of Rothschild (his sister’s son). There is more than one Lord Rothschild; this one that the above letter is addressed to is Walter, but his real first name is (I think) Robert.

I have read elsewhere that the plan, dating back as far as the 1880s, was for the House of Rothschild to run three World Wars. The third one would be in the Middle East and one of the players would be the then-future state of Israel. This rumor is based on the story that Albert Pike wrote a letter describing this, in the 1880s, and it was supposedly catalogued at the British Museum. Today the British Museum denies this, so no proof is available.  However, a secret elite did organize World Wars I and II, and could, I suppose, organize another world war.

In trying to show how important it was for the secret elite to arrange this support for Jews, Docherty and Macgregor report an incident in which the Americans almost blew it, by mistake. It seems that US Secretary of State, Robert Lansing, was not fully in the loop.  He saw a possible way to make a deal with Turkey and sent the former US ambassador Henry Morgenthau to Switzerland for this in June, 1917. Quoting page 412:

“[US Supreme Court Justice] Louis Brandeis learned about the venture after the Americans had departed… He immediately understood the mortal danger which any such rapprochement with the Turks would bring to their ambitions. Brandeis alerted Chaim Weizmann. [It] would have destroyed the Zionist ambitions before the world war had ended….

“In complete secrecy, Balfour appointed [layperson] Weizmann as the British representative to meet Morgenthau… In America, Louis Brandeis succeeded in completely overturning the original position held by Robert Lansing at the State Department. … Realizing what he was up against, Morgenthau abandoned the mission.”

Americans should be shocked, reading this, to learn that a Supreme Court justice was carrying on in such a political manner.

This article does not convey the richness of the book Prolonging the Agony. It is a put-down of war and a put-down of a handful of men making war over dinner. The section on Rupert Murdoch’s father, Keith, and his top-of-the-top connections in London, is amazing.

I have neglected to say that throughout the war, a vital source of money was JP Morgan in New York.  However, as we know (from the work of Eustace Mullins), Morgan was a front for Rothschild. I think this may be true also of the Rockefeller family. More on that later.

Congratulations to Gerry Docherty, a former high school principal, for being sufficiently disgusted with history textbooks to run out and write his own. And congrats to both authors for never mincing words.
