I don’t believe Pell did it, and I am looking for evidence on the case. (I am sure there are much worse things being done to people than what is being done to Pell).
I am thinking of doing a bit of gumshoe work myself. I got a list of choirboys who were witnesses at the Pell trial (this was printed out in one of the court reports). If I manage to phone 2 or 3 of them I might get some useful comments.
Mary I liked your creative comment asking if some American guy was involved in throwing someone overboard in Tasmania. It was complete fiction but you said you were making a point.
I had a similar idea about Pell. The prosecution wants us to believe that it is nearly impossible that Pell could not have opportunity to offend in the sacristy. I have been saying that there are millions of oeople who could have had opportunity to offend in the sacristy – whether they were there or not – all they would need is free time and money allowing them to travel. . For example, maybe someone decided to give Frank Sinatra a birthday treat and wheeled him out of hospital onto a plane and flew him to Melbourne to meet Pell in the sacristy.

• In 1979 or 1980, a parent reported what his children had told him about the warden’s behaviour with boys to a member of the Hostel board. This board member apparently made unspecified enquiries and reassured the parent that all was well (p.83-85).

I’m no fan of the Catholic church but it’s no worse than any number of protestant establishments. I am baptised and confirmed Catholic, and I am no fan of the church(administration executive) either. The Protestant break-away comes much later and has the hallmarks of “divide and rule”. The papal bulls, long before Protestants, showed a draconian way that clashes with my beliefs and freedoms the same way as government does.
Some earlier bulls are believed to be written on children’s skin, to esoterically push the words into law. The young goat is called a kid, to provide an acceptable answer to earlier papal bulls(cannon law) physical document. Vatican holds these things close for no scrutiny. I would love to see the references and the statistics as we know the Boy Scouts (there is a Catholic boy scouts as well) and the Salvation Army had child rape and molestation from 1940-1990.During the 2015 commission hearing it was revealed SAST paid on average $42,000 to more than 400 claimants and offers varied widely from below $10,000 to $50,000. Four abuse survivors received more than $100,000. had far less but nothing compared to the colossal amount from the Roman Catholics which goes into the $billions of dollars of claims world-wide and is still mounting. After I posted , Berry had added to the first post that has the reference I used at the end. Berry is a veteran GumShoe’r with a sharp mind and notable personal experiences like us all.
I’m a little surprised that you found anything positive I had to say about the Catholic Church in that post. Their are lots of thinking Catholic’s that believe that they are been taken down from the inside. They point to a lot of Catholic people standing against the vermin. Don’t forget that they mostly prayed(sorry sic joke) on their own.
I was trying to point out that the Papal leaders since before circa 500ad, had even been using human child skin for their parchments(papal bulls). Cannon law that never sunsets. The Protestants come some 1000 years later around “reformation”(give me the dark ages please). Now they make up for lost time don’t they and no guernsey for them or the Anglicans. Hugely outgoing charismatic person. After some 5 years, I saw the start of self destruction. I have several long standing life-long Catholic friends so I am not anti-Catholic. Unfortunately they are Bible illiterate. There was always going to be this highly ‘controversial’ court case with Pell being a cardinal. I have heard and read on the grapevine that because Pell kept all of the sexual molesting quiet and they moved these evil perverted priests around and were not reported and the Vatican rewarded him as the Treasurer and moved him out of country at the same time. Look at the length of time to finally convict after years of suppression. How many people committed suicide in this period and even before?

What is the wider context of this story?
Countries around the world have been holding inquiries into institutional child sexual abuse. In 2012, Australia’s then prime minister, Julia Gillard, ordered a formal inquiry into historical child sexual abuse within Australian institutions, with the Catholic church and its associated organisations coming under particular scrutiny.
Pell was one of hundreds of people summoned to give evidence during public hearings held throughout Australia. He gave evidence to the commission in person and via videolink, and was questioned about the structure of the archdiocese of Melbourne.
There had been no suggestion in these commission hearings that Pell was a perpetrator.
The commission asked questions about whether he knew of any abuse and what he did to address it. This is because in 1996, while Pell was archbishop of Melbourne, he was approached by senior politicians, judges and officials who raised concerns about historical child sexual abuse by clergy and church personnel.
More complainants were coming forward with their stories and historical charges were being laid. As a result, Pell established a scheme within the archdiocese of Melbourne to investigate such claims.
This initiative was known as the Melbourne Response, and those in charge of it, including Pell, have been criticised by complainants for an inconsistent and inadequate response to claims.
Pell also faced questioning by the royal commission about how the archdiocese of Melbourne responded to and investigated allegations of child sexual abuse within its institutions.

Regarding the evidence of the witness that led to the conviction of George Pell – news of the conviction was delayed until last week. Did even Dante, who features sodomite priests in his Divine Comedy, write such a bizarre story as the Count Dracula in bishop’s robes who sexually assaults two boys. This did not happen. It is a script for a horror movie. What was the script writer smoking?

Were you at the court proceedings? The jury that heard ‘all the evidence’ disagrees with you. The court’s benchmark is “Beyond Reasonable Doubt”. Evidence is supported by a number of facts and corroborated by others. There is circumstantial and forensic as well to support a case.
If you watched FourCorners last night here was a number of incidences and time frames that was compelling against Pell. It was their testimony of what they saw that brings people to their conclusion of guilty or not guilty. He is appealing it of course so we can see what will develop.
The Roman Catholic Church has taken far too long in dealing with these criminal acts on children by those perverted priests, covering it up and transferring them to other diocese. Their actions are also criminal in nature for obstructing justice, lying or perjury, lack of duty of care and Im sure Mary can add a few other charges that are in the criminal code.
Have you noticed the massive amount of police needed to shield Pell? What does that tell you? 24.3.2019. I bit of information leaked out two years ago in a youtube blog (comments accompanying George Weigel’s interview which discusses Pell). According to a blogger named Peter Cribbett, the so-called witness in the sacristy sex abuse accusation was a heroin addict at age 16. This is new information – information about the accuser is suppressed by the court – at least his court testimony is unknown even to observers at the trial. Before knowing this bit of information, I had suggested that if someone has a memory from 20 years of a Count racula in bishop’s robes appearing in a sacristy doorway and sexually abusing them, perhaps they ought to check their meds before deciding that their memories are real and not false. Now that we know that the witness was a heroin addict, he looks like a perfect choice for someone who could be fed a false story to induce false memories. I still don’t believe a word of his story but will humbly apologize if I am wrong.

In Joseph Conrad’s book Heart of Darkness, Kurtz has written a note, presumably to himself, which said “exterminate all the brutes”. Now we have a rewrite of this. “Exterminate the Darth Vader in black clerical garb”. Even the star wars movies did not paint Darth Vader as a sex abuser of boys. The story is absurd. It is more likely that a drug addled stooge has been got on board to tell his fantastic story against Pell. He may have been coached to induce false memories. Litigation law is big business.
I am puzzled by the Tim Miinchin song. I tried to find out who funded it and they said we are big company we don’t need fundijng.
