This is a reaction to “what is going on“, plus “a prompt“ by an article in the magazine Slavic News. Also of course the reality, as far as I can find out, is not always the same as what is reported in our press and by the politicians.
This should be a “big matter“, moreover having two points of view: a political one, and an economic one. But, from both of them, it looks like one of the stupidities “taken over“ within the so-called “alliance“ – unfortunately by now almost a “standard stupidity“. As a kind of ground for sending some EU ships to the Taiwan region, we got an indication that “in case the people of Taiwan would decide to ‘turn free from the Chinese occupation’ the ships would help them“. By the above-mentioned article we were called upon by Mr. Borrell, the EU chief, and I have no reason to doubt that, as it is in no contradiction to my opinion concerning that gentleman. However: Slovakia, with a population of 5 million barking at China, would perhaps look more impressive.
This is also something that shifts the EU (further) into the position of a real vassal of the US, while officially the EU is an independent formation, theoretically legally competent (this once again seems to be just a theory). Would not a better move be to swap Mr. Borell for someone else and prohibit any ideology? Because this present behaviour imitates the ways of communism, and as far as I am informed we have not returned to that. As yet, officially, so I just hope such radical redefinitions do not occur. But the present comrades may not be aware of the fact, that communism is not produced by calling a system by that name, but by creating or running such system – quite straightforward. This means “as it functions/malfunctions, internally, or outwardly“.
I already got used to the stupidity of the “EU politicians“, but this is indicating “a serious malfunction“. During all those years I already got used to the EU being just a US lackey, so it just sits and waits for what the “Chief“ comes up with, so that it can “jump and support him“. The Chief has been speculating over Taiwan for years, we know the background. Taiwan has been behaving relatively independently, and China has let them be, long-term, but considers it as a part of Chinese land, which seems to be respected by most of the world. The present state is a result of a fairly long historical development. But China would never have it “stolen“, so what is all the ado about? Well, apart from the US having dreamt for decades of setting up Taiwan as an “unsinkable anti-China aircraft/rocket carrier“.
The question of the point of this “show“ is of course a rhetorical one. The first answer which popped up in my head was that the EU “politicians“ feel like “demonstrating their real alliance to whatever the US do – a kind of blind alliance“. But then it occurred to me that not all of them know that Taiwan is an island on the opposite side of the Earth and that even in relation to the US as well. But – a strong side-point – up to now I have not had an idea that the EU has a Navy. So – they may have enhanced the self-esteem of a European citizen: EU is a Naval Power, although to me it looks closer to wishful thinking. But I have to admit I do not know much about “navies“, we only have Danube-size ships (I am even not sure of the plural).
So, let us try to estimate the eventual damages to the European Economy, in case our “contemporary comrades ideologists“ manage to detach us from China. Here we have to include the related – although indirect, but in the context not quite improbable – possibility that Russia in that case would join China, eventually only partially. Russia and China have been – for some time already – sensing a certain unfriendly trend from our direction, and have already elaborated a (common) move towards Asia and Africa, plus South America (which seems to be in the phase of gaining speed). If that happens then Europe can suffer from the consequences of this “fawning under the US politics without respect to eventual impact on the economy“.
Thus we have – from a certain viewpoint – returned to communism, when the economy was secondary to politics, in this context even ideology, and we remember the extremely negative consequences brought by that. We could say “Those who ignore good advice can hardly be helped“ – we have such a proverb – but the problem is that this, in particular, happens to be about ourselves; we see these new “right-wing comrades remote-controlled across the Atlantic“ pull us behind them, just like the left-wing ones did before.
This has to be recalled at the next elections, we need to listen carefully what the “candidates“ will spin and promise in the election campaign, and compare that to what they do now. And also watch those who the “candidates“ follow. E.g the “COVID-vaccines case“, which has been rather quickly swept under the carpet; considering the number of victims (and damages), it should at least be investigated. Especially as the “history“, including “who has done it“need not be investigated; it is – just imagine – publicly known.
