There are some subjects in Washington that politicians instinctively avoid — episodes of history so politically sensitive that even mentioning them can invite condemnation.
Yet this week, Congressman Thomas Massie invoked the USS Liberty — the American intelligence ship attacked during the Six-Day War in 1967 — by the Israelis.
He paid tribute to the sailors who survived. In doing so, he reopened a chapter of history that many believe has never been fully confronted. The video: on the House floor, Rep. Thomas Massie (R-KY) slammed Israel over the 1967 attack on the USS Liberty.
He has about six months to open the flood gates.
