President Obama signing a National Defense Authorization Act in 2012

Just before Christmas, President Obama signed the “Intelligence Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2017” bill into law. The law could make it illegal to run an alternative media website in the US — and criminalize Fake News on the Web.

“Last Friday it was announced by U.S. Senators Rob Portman (R-OH) and Chris Murphy (D-CT) that the Countering Disinformation and Propaganda Act legislation was in fact signed into law as part of the FY 2017 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) Conference Report which is aimed at countering foreign propaganda and disinformation.”
This is simply a crackdown on free speech and independent media. Investmentwatchdog writes:
“In Layman’s terms, the act will allow the government to crack down with impunity against any media outlet it deems “propaganda.” The next piece of the legislation will provide substantial amounts of money to fund “counter propaganda,” to make sure the government’s approved stories drown out alternative media and journalists who question the status quo.”
The First Amendment to the US Constitution is a foundational American value. It protects many other their liberties. But it is now endangered by this new law.
Congress incorporated (sneaked) this law into the annual defense budget. Now the Feds have the funding to take over the Internet, and thus, the mainstream media can force the “truth” on the American people.
Sites like Gumshoe, outside the US, might become more and more important.

I recall watching a submission back in about 2007, before a US house sub-committe chaired by representative Jane Harman, by a delegate from the Wiensthall Centre.
The representative addressed Ms Harman supported by large ‘Plackhards’ associating the architects and engineers livery with alleged terrorist sites. Thus attempting to associate 911 truth with terrorist paraphanalia.
I wrote to the spiv and asked him if those then listed at http://www.patriotsquestion911/ were associated with terrorists. There was no reply from the Wiesenthall centre.
As it is holiday time I cannot or know how to provide a report on the disgusting claims on behalf of the Wiesenthal centre but if one searches globalresearch.com there is an article by Steve and Paul Watson on the submission by the weaselcentre. The date is 16.11.2007. Part of the title is; ‘House Sub-Committee equates 9/11 truth with terrorism……’
The GR article I think also refers to a report at infowars.com and that may be the reference to the 16.11.2007 date.
Keep in mind that Law Professor ( of all vocations!) Cass Sunstein published his joint paper on infiltrating conspiracy sites, particularly of the 911 kind, with government misinformation.
At the time my respect for the Wiesenthall centre catching war criminals, was completely dissipated.
Now we know one reason why the fascist censorship spivs want to allege criminality by those in the alternative media who only want truth and to, as the weaselcentre once did, catch and prosecute war criminals and mass murderers.
Only by free discussion, investigation and independence from the controlled mass media can that cause be accomplished.
Further: ‘Dumbstein’s’ joint paper was in 2008 and dealt with by David Ray Griffin in his book; ‘Cognitave infiltration a Obama Appointees……………”.
Clearly, they were worried about 911 exposure and those responsible……….they still are!
