Wow! A New world ahead of us. The U.S. can say goodbye to world dominance for now. They have brought the situation on themselves through greed and arrogance. When the banking industry write the laws for their own greed and criminally minded entrepreneurs like Donald Trump force their way into power, this is the result. The country’s economy reverses and the population suffers while other countries push forward using their financial resources to gain more knowledge.
I paid for my ‘off grid’ solar system with precious metals to a bloke that had figured out what and where things were going. I gave him a great deal of various denominations of metals and he was very appreciative. If I need some assistance in the future, I’m confident he’ll show up. I also told him if he was in the area on a job, to give me a call and I’ll tell him what is ripe and available. I have a similar relationship with a plumber, if I have a problem, he says “I’ll see you tomorrow mate”. Each time he comes by, he and his off-sider walk away with a bag of fresh produce in each hand. I doubt that they eat it all, however I expect they do distribute the extra goodies to friends and family. – I’m developing a working relationship with trades people and also the locals who also produce food.
As far as David’s research and what to stock, I have a number of jars of coconut oil (also olive oil).
Coconut oil provides the fat/oils David refers to, it also stores very well. The issue David brings up about calories is important. If people are too weak to even move, not much is going to get done. – Potatoes are a good calorie crop and don’t take much work. I’ve planted my raised gardens with the seed potatoes and am now in the process of digging seed potatoes along the back fence line. I’ll have about 100 meters of potatoes growing along the fence line to use as a back up food source. Better to be safe than sorry.
David also mentioned distilling alcohol. I’ve been making vodka for about 30 years. The bloke that mows my yard not only gets his hand full of cash, he gets a 1.5 litre bottle of quality vodka (and I think that is what he’s really working for).
The shelves in the supermarket are still full, so it is easy to continue to build up a reserve of long term storage food. I usually pick up 4-5 items for my ‘stash’ each time I go shopping. It starts building up quite quickly. I picked up another couple of cans of butter the last time I went shopping. Most people wouldn’t even think about making such a purchase, but if the SHTF having real butter to put on a homemade pancake or bread is not only a nice treat, but also good for your health.
Lots of ideas out there, the trick is to be PROactive and not REactive.
