An open letter to Mark Walter Scott, the Managing Director of the Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC).
Dear Mr Scott,
I watched Lateline last night with despair (video and transcript here). It was only on Monday that you gave General (Ret) Petraeus a platform on the 7.30 report to preach his version of success against “terror” and the need to continue their warmongering. (My report here). And then, not even 48 hours later, Elliott Abrams is given a platform to push the most egregious propaganda. Abrams is a senior fellow for Middle Eastern studies at the Council on Foreign Relations in Washington DC. (That is a bunch of private citizens who seem to be the source of much foreign policy). Abrams was an adviser to George W. Bush and the Reagan administration.
These commentators bleat about the Al-Assad regime (as they did about Saddam and Gaddafi), but the destruction of Syria (along with Iraq and Libya) was in the planning in 2001. Retired General Wesley Clark “leaked” this out in 2006. He was privy to an alleged memo in the Pentagon only days after the false flag that is known as 9/11.
Clark stated publicly (to Amy Goodman) that the neocons had planned the destruction of seven countries in five years. (Video below)
And Abrams and Petraeus – your esteemed guests – were part of that dastardly plan.
I applaud Emma Alberici for asking the right questions. As an example:
EMMA ALBERICI: As a former member of the Bush administration, how much personal responsibility do you feel for the rise of Islamic State?
Abrams answered.
ELLIOTT ABRAMS: Well, in all candour, not much. You know, president Obama withdrew American soldiers from Iraq, saying at the time, starting in 2009, “Iraq is now stable.” That was as a result of the surge that came in the last couple of years in the Bush administration….
They destroyed the country and over a million were killed murdered. There was not one al Qaeda operative in Iraq in 2001 and Bush’s “shock and awe” campaign of designed destruction vacuumed them in. (One must understand that al Qaeda was a CIA invention and ISIS has been funded by friends and allies.)
Abrams went on.
ELLIOTT ABRAMS: …And so you began to have these massacres: the barrel bombing, the use of chemical weapons. It is a reaction to that, I think, that the Islamic State grew so big.
The West perpetrated the initial unrest in Libya and Syria and weapons were “moved” from Libya to Syria. Syrian President Bashar al-Assad was then accused of a chemical weapons attack. But interviews with people in Damascus and Ghouta tell a different story – that rebels received those chemical weapons via the Saudi intelligence chief. US warships were stationed in the Mediterranean Sea ready to launch military strikes against Al Assad. They might have done so, were it not for an article published by Mint Press questioning the official story.
And what Abrams says and prescribes is INSANE:
ELLIOTT ABRAMS: ….And I think the other thing we need to do in addition to fighting ISIS is getting rid of Assad, because I think that regime which, as you say, is unbelievably brutal. I mean, it’s 300,000 dead, 8 million refugees. That regime is a jihadi manufacturing machine. There wouldn’t be an Islamic State if it weren’t for that regime’s attacks on Sunnis in Syria. They look around for protection and we’ve done nothing: we in the West. So they turn to the Islamic State, which is Sunni and which is saying it will protect them. So I think there’s two parts to this. The first part is attacking the Islamic State. The second part is doing something about Assad.
Appalling. Let us have the 9/11 discussion later – but it is the West that has attacked and bombed everybody. It is the West that has provided the fertile ground for “jihadi manufacturing”. In Australia, we remove passports and jail those involved in the terror there. But Abrams advocates that very involvement!
ELLIOTT ABRAMS: ….You know, even now, though we’ve given no help for years (they have) to these Syrian rebel groups that are not part of the Islamic State or Al Qaeda – its Jabhat al-Nusra affiliate in Syria – they exist. They exist in their thousands. And I think…
EMMA ALBERICI: But they’re also designated terrorist groups.
ELLIOTT ABRAMS: No. Some of them are and many of them aren’t. And I think that if we actually went to work there to build up a rebel force, which is what Obama’s advisers were advising him to do in 2012…
He concludes…
“But we need to train, we need to help, we need to arm, we need to advise, we need to finance. I don’t think we need many of our own people there.
Nothing will stop these madmen until they have removed Al Assad and leveled Syria.
And the ABC gives a platform to preach this terrible view to Australians.
The ABC is here to give us the real story – without fear or favour. At least provide a counter voice to this war mania. A Salon.com article, “Can Elliott Abrams be stopped?” describes him as “cooked from a neoconservative recipe” and he was indicted for lying to Congress about his role in coordinating the Iran-Contra scandal. Why is Australia giving these people airtime?
Petraeus was brought out by the Lowy Institute and Abrams by the Australia/Israel and Jewish Affairs Council. Thus on the question: Did the ABC invite these two guests? My guess is the ABC was “instructed” or “urged” to give airtime to these “esteemed” gentlemen by members of the board, or by someone high up somewhere – to further propagate a geopolitical agenda far beyond Australian interests. Their appearance, however, seems well orchestrated to draw the Australian people back into the the worst war crime since WW2.
These gentlemen should rather be questioned on war crimes – and preferably not be given such a prestigious platform to espouse their long-planned plunder and destruction.

Well Mary, there is your classic psychopath. Charming, manipulative and void of content. His Vietnam anti-war comments are mimicked from all the other thousands of other vets, nothing new or from his heart.
These creatures manipulate themselves into all sorts of positions, charities (stealing the funds), religions (power), environmental groups (global warming), children’s hospitals (paedophilia) – anything they see that they can take advantage of.
Most normies would look at that clip and think ‘what a hypocrite’, but in Kerry’s paradigm it is all consistent – what’s in it for me.
Well OK, Terry, but John Kerry was in Skull and Bones. Every year Yale chooses 15 upperclassmen to join. I wonder if they are able to locate 15 psychopaths in each class, or is it in their power to “turn” a student. Lately they have started to include females in the 15. “Co-eds” as it were. Should be an interesting experiment. They were able to get the men to bond; you can’t really get chicks to bond like that.

The video of the two John Kerry’s may cause a young person to say “How did he switch over from being so caring to being a dog?” (Oops I apologize to our canine friiends). The answer is: He was not caring, His whole involvement as a Vietnam protestors helps to show that he was instructed by the bosses to do that. Ditto Jane Fonda (I guess). (Ditto Dr Benjamin Spock, I am guessing.)
I take it that all the marches against Nixon and against war were orchestrated. Yet many participants were 100% sincere.
This has taught me to look for double motives in all protestors. Dee tells me that it is easy for an organization to turn our tens of thousands of protestors on the streets of Melbourne. If so, why do we not see a substantial number of those persons following through on the issue afer the rally?
This reminds me. When I ran for Congress in 2006 on the platform of “9-11 was an inside job” i received about 200 emails in one week supporting me. But none of those people ever got in touch with me again. They did sound very sincere and not machine-generated. A typical one would say “Oh Mary thanks for doing this. You are true blue; i wish I had your courage.”
Why on earth would the Big Baddies arrange for this? I noted that all those emails came to me in a very short period of time, as if an email had gone out to all of them triggering this?
When I was a candidate I also received stacks of pre-printed postcards asking me to legislate against abortion and against mandatory unionism. There, the writers weren’t hiding the fact that they were signing a mass-produced postcard.
Now don’t miss, please, my letter to Massachusetts governor re Tsarnaev. In it I am playing the constitutionalist and imaging that I sound normal. But where are my buddies? Why isn’t everybody saying what I am saying? Are any of my law teachers going to give me a pat on the back for this? No way. But why not?

Someone might work out the ‘broadcast cost’ of 133 seconds out of a one billion dollar budget.
So Mr Scott, would your organisation mind informing the public of the realities of the foundations of the problem in the Middle East and Syria by using up 0.00042174% of your broadcasting available time and show the public the interview by Amy Goodman with General Clarke as linked above in the article provided so that the public can appreciate how we were sucked into the last 14 years or so of; wars, killing and destruction in the Middle East.
Now please do not think that broadcasting the 2.13 minutes at 3 am one day will suffice. I think we would be awake to that little ABC trick………….Try during the ABC and/or SBS news broadcast. Do you think your people might be able to double the time allowed? Pretty please ………just so that it may be claimed to the parliamentary people at the next grovel for our money, that ‘our’ public broadcaster has actually informed their viewers of some reality…….at least on two occasions, since the interview in 2007!!
As an aside, then suggest that the presenter/s inform the public that the horrendous displacement of people and the continuing refugee problem is largely contributed to by the Howard government, their successors and all their warmongering international mates and bankers.
Try and inform the government also, before they start or continue bombing the crap out of another area of the Middle East. Definitely inform our prliamentary servants before the ultimate target, being Iran as stated by Clark, is being set up to be bombed.
Whilst covering the situation, perhaps some intrepid ABC journalist might investigate those who formed Al Queada and ISIS and how they have been financed and armed. Start with the arms supply through Benghazi resulting in the killing of Embassador Stephens (Stevens). Hilary knows all about it!!!??
Oh dear I nearly forgot, coming up, the 11th of Septrmber, don’t bore the public again with the official government 911 conspiracy lies and unscientific imaginery nonsense that the mass murders on 9/11 was done by those ‘mad muslims’. Amanda Keller broadcast her interview with him in November 2009 and had a huge reponse (From memory: Best ever to that time) ……………..just the thing for ‘our’ ABC ratings; a bit of objective discussion should do wonders for ‘our’ ABC and SBS.
Maybe there will be someone in ‘our’ Federal Parliament who will wake up that they have been well and truly suckered and some of our soldiers have been killed and maimed as a consequence.
Someone with your Minister’s intellect and integrity might even be impressed with some ABC competence, reporting and objectivity….He/She might knock up your budget a smidgen or two???

Along with a written joining of Dee’s letter I also contacted ABC by telephone and requested that I would like to interview any person at the ABC who claims they are accountable for their content and can answer to the information I could table that never gets interviewed or discussed. I made my case for as long as I was allowed and explained political desks and journalism desks are very alike when trying to find someone who can be accountable on the record in debate and both have the same technical format of “accountability” that is not accountable at all.

You mentioned that Eliott Abrams was indicted in relation to the Iran Contra scandal of the 1980s. Yes, but it went further than that. He was convicted. However in the great Christmas Eve pardon, 27 days before he left office, the older President Bush said “Don’t worry about it.” I assume the pardon, which included Cap Weinberger who had not yet been tried (!!) was intended to prevent testimony damaging to Bush.
Abrams, who has taken his wife’s surname, is the son of Norman Podhoretz, writer for the neoconservative magazine “Commentary.” On July 28, 2015, “Dad” wrote a Wall Street Journal article about Iran entitled “Israel’s Choice: Conventional War Now, or Nuclear War Later.” I pass over the fact that Rupert has until recently been the head of WSJ.
Podhoretz’s article got 1240 hits. I think you are doing great with 12 hits so far today, but I suppose it is all relative.
